Mod Organizer & Dual Sheath/New Idles
DoYouEvenModBro replied to drannos's question in Mod Organizer Support
Can you give directions for new idles in Wrye Bash? I read the directions but I don't understand which file to download or what exactly to do. -

Well I was getting graphical artifacts from time to time in skyrim and the problem wouldn't go away unless I restarted my computer. My card also overclocked pretty horribly and I was unable to hit the overclocks that many other users were able to get with the same card (7970 ghz) so I RMAd it. Also one of the fans was making a grinding sound. I had to RMA it anyway so it doesn't really matter at this point lol. I'm waiting for the new card to come in. Should take another week. -

FurMark is another good gfx card stress testing tool. Furmark doesn't really stress memory at all so I wouldn't consider that a good test for VRAM. Oh? I wasn't aware of that... Is it more for clocks testing then? I believe it is more for testing for temperature related problems and core clock, yea. I tried the Video Memory Stress Test that William mentioned above but I can't get it to stress my full 3gb of vram. Apologies for confusing the matter then! Should have really read up about the tool before recommending... No worries at all. It's hard to find stress testers that really stress your full vram. I usually use Furmark/Heaven/3dmark11 to test for stability but I think those all test for overheating and not really memory so I"m not sure what to do for memory. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I guess the best test is really just games. -

I tried that but it wont let me use more than 1 gb of vram on the test so it's kinda useless. -

So you're saying I should have CCC AF set to "let application decide", launcher AF set to "none" and then just use the ENB? Do you think my graphical artifacts could have been caused by having AF forced three times? Or do you think it was due to bad VRAM memory. I think it was the VRAM. -

I'm only forcing AF from CCC. For AA I use SMAA injector. Well sometimes I try to force 2x Adaptive from CCC but I can't tell if it does anything. If I'm using ENB, should I only use ENB AF or is ENB AF OKAY to use in addition to the other AF? Remember I was getting graphical artifacts before with my 7970? I wonder if the double AF had anything to do with it. Either way I RMAd my card so I'm waiting for it to return before I give STEP another go. -
Why do we need to change the timescale value if STEP already includes the "travel timescale fix"?That mod corrects the disparity between the time it takes to walk to a destination and the time it takes to fast travel to that same destination. The timescale change alters the relative time difference between game time rate and real time rate (game time rate defaults to 30x real time. We suggest slowing to 10x real time.)Ok cool thanks.

Replacement for Realistic Crime Radius?
DoYouEvenModBro replied to Zarggg's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I'm confused too. So I go into INI tweaks in WB, select my value, then rebuild patch? You don't need to touch any ini-settings whatsoever. Just rightclick on the file Bashed Patch, 0.esp in WB's mod list, choose rebuild patch and then under Tweak Settings check the Crime Radius box and set the value to 1000 Gotchya, thanks Vond. Are there any other tweak settings I should change as well? -

Well I use SMAA injector so I shouldn't have to test it with AA. -

I agree with that notion as it's the rule of thumb for most of the games. However, Skyrim is one example where the in-game AA and AF options aren't the best standards of quality. Whilst it's not so evident when it comes to Anisotropic Filtering, AntiAliasing is one area where Skyrim really lacks grunt, hence why most people resort to other means, such as post-processing AA or various forms of SuperSampling. Anisotropic Filtering, on the other hand, has little performance impact, so it's best to just compare it yourself and see if the performance hit is significant (it's not from my experience). If I force it through CCC then I DO NOT need to also force it in the skyrim launcher, right? -

I dont see anything at the bottom for WB. -

Well as long as driver-forced AF doesn't use any more system ram (which i dont think it does) i'll just keep using that. My fps seems fine. -
I would download the 1k version of the big texture packs in order to save system RAM. 2k versions will put you over the RAM limit at 1080p in certain areas like windhelm and falkreath.Â

Also if there is one less .esp then there is probably less RAM usage. I'll give this a try. Has anyone been able to use the optional 4k/8k high-res pines without a HUGE increase in RAM? I had to remove the 4k version and saw a giant decrease in RAM. Unfortunate because they look great. -

Well I can use all the reductions that I can so as long as there isn't a clear decrease in quality between the two mods, I'm game. Will it use less RAM? -

So should AMD users just leave it at "let application decide", put it to 16x in the launcher, then also have it enabled in ENB? Or only use ENB? I apologize but I've seen at least 3 different instructions on here for AMD AF and I honestly have no idea which one is recommended. I know more people use Nvidia around here. No. There are three ways to force Anisotropic Filtering: 1) In-game, leave the catalyst alone, 2) ENB, turn it off in-game and leave the catalyst alone, 3) Driver's AF, set it to 16x (or 8x, since the difference is minimal, but so is performance hit) and disable it in the game and in ENB (if it's enabled). The in-game AF is a bit inferior in quality. Especially visible in the distance. ENB should be the best performance/quality trade off in theory. It's up to you in the end, the differences are mostly negligible. Last time I checked, ATI cards had better textures filtering than GeForce, so there's that. Gotchya. Where did the directions to mirror the AF in CCC and the launcher come from. It came from the RCRN forums, right? People were saying that driver forced AA/AF don't work unless you force it in the launcher I think (at least for ATI) -

Why are we recommending the basic SFO 181 version ONLY instead of the 179e version? Should users with good rigs still not use 179e? -
