That's probably what's causing my high RAM usage, because even with a ton of reductions, I'm still creeping above 3 GB. EDIT: Although I don't remember if it was you or someone else, but someone who had made further reductions than me tested out the falkreath area and found that they almost passed 3 GB as well so perhaps that's not the reason. Is there any way that my game is fine? EDIT EDIT: The papyrus log should tell me exactly if it is trying to load scripts for a mod that is no longer installed, right?

So I know that what I'm about to say is pretty taboo around here but I've been using the same save file since Skyrim came out in 2011....it has like 200 hours on it and I've installed and uninstalled a ton of STEP mods at least like 20 times lol. I've never used any scripted mods that haven't been recommended in STEP though. The only CTD problems I've had are due to my system RAM creeping up above 3 GB. Could part of the reason for the high RAM usage be from scripts left from previous mods? I was under the impression that the "clearinvalidregistrations" command gets rid of unused running scripts but apparently this is not the case? I really hate to let this save go as Ive been working on it for like 2 years haha. I haven't seen any corrupted saves or anything of that manner but I"m just wondering if perhaps that is the reason why my RAM usage fills up so quickly or if I just need to keep trying to reduce textures. I gave up on Cleanmem as I'm pretty positive that it doesn't do anything.Â

STEP 2.2.5 followed to the last letter = CTD/Freeze

Can anyone confirm that wearable lanterns causes CTD? -

Textures to downsize to avoid 3gb CTD?
DoYouEvenModBro replied to DoYouEvenModBro's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Should I just uninstall and reinstall SFO? I didn't downsize anything. I just removed the high-res pines optional and reinstalled SFO and did anneal all EDIT: I reinstalled SFO. Does this look normal for the default pines? Seems like too large of a decrease from 4/2k to 2/1k. Honestly looks like vanilla textures. https://i.imgur.com/vw8BSmG.jpg I think you'll have that problem alot as you get closer to trees. I've noticed that up close trees leaves look like that no matter what res I use I assume the ones on the left are closer than the ones on the right. They are both right in front of me but the right one is a different type of pine. Might be a bush. -
SFO issue (continued from another thread)

Oh ok. But what you're saying is that there's nothing wrong with my SFO file and the default pine02 is just blocky? 4k pines look soooo much better but unfortunately it uses soooo much RAM :-/. -
Yea I agree, however if someone wants to get a "high-end" card i'd still recommend the 7970 ghz over the 680 or 670. I think it's the best bang for the buck. 680s (unless i'm mistaken) are still about $100 more tha 7970 ghz and about on par performance wise or maybe a slightly bit better. If bad drivers piss you off, I'd definitely recommend going with 680 then since AMD drivers often need to play catch up to new games. Also, games that use physx (like metro last light which I just bought recently) won't allow you to use it with AMD cards :-/. That was actually a huge disappointment for me.Â

So just to confirm what you said because I am a bit unclear: You are saying that your pines look like the ones in my screenshot and that those are the default ones that come with SFO unless you download the 4k or 8k high-res pines add-on? Also, if I delete vurt_pine02 and replace it with 01 (meaning I will have 2 vurt_pine01 files in the folder), it would make it look a bit less blocky? -

DoYouEvenModBro replied to DoYouEvenModBro's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Sure. That would be good. I'm assuming you aren't using any high-res pines. Just the default SFO file and optional 2k LoDs right? Let me know if it looks the same. I actually turned off edgeAA so I know it's not that. -
I'm honestly not upgrading until the new 8xxx series come out from AMD. I think AMD has an excellent opportunity to improve. If they improve their drivers as well then they'll be golden. I was considering buying another 7970 ghz but I honestly dont want to have to deal with crossfire ever again.

I'm gonna do that now. I actually am just gonna do a fresh install of S.T.E.P. That way I can rule out any of the archives or files being in the wrong place or corrupted. -
I honestly don't think the 770 or 780s are worth it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere that a 780 is only ilke 25% better than a 7970 ghz? Also, they cost about $250 more. If you overclock a 7970 ghz you can easily get a 15-20% boost which would make it slightly worse than a 780.

SFO issue (continued from another thread)
DoYouEvenModBro replied to DoYouEvenModBro's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Still can't figure out this issue :-/. Maybe a corrupt version of SFO? -
Just wanna point out that while extreme STEP does need a pretty good card, you are still limited by the 3 GB RAM limit of Skyrim so if you get a beefy card and download the highest res mods, you will end up crashing all over the place and will have to lower the texture resolution anyway regardless of how good your GPU is. Believe me, I bought a 7970 for extreme step and found out the hard way :-/ EDIT: Also, your links don't work

I did that already :-/. Uninstalled, reinstalled, "anneal all". Same problem. -
SFO issue (continued from another thread)

So I uninstalled the optional 4k high-res pines for SFO with the intent to decrease RAM usage, re installed SFO and then did "anneal all" in wrye bash in order to make sure everything was fine. I started playing, noticed SUBSTANTIALLY lower RAM usage (2.6 around falkreath vs like 3.061 with 4k pines) but I think something messed up because some pines still look really good and others look awful. Look at these screenshots: https://i.imgur.com/h3ZPwE1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vw8BSmG.jpg The pines on the left are incredibly low res (in the first picture) but the ones on the right are high res. What happened? It looks like vanilla textures. Seems too pixelated, even for 2k -

Also just realized that Rocks Ultra (btw this is the mod i'm talking about when I say that -Â https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1382/?) and AOF mountains cover the exact same 4 textures. Why are we using both? Just for the snow in the snow and rocks mod? They both replace: Mountainslab01 and normal Mountainslab02 and normal -

Aiyen, I think we're PMing and speaking here about the same thing so I'll just keep it here, haha. Which one is Langley's texture pack? -

DoYouEvenModBro replied to DoYouEvenModBro's question in General Skyrim LE Support
What do the 4k mountains do? Every single mountain rock? That's probably overridden by ultra rocks 4k and/or AOF detailed mountains, right? So I can probably get rid of SRO 4096 mountains then. -

I forgot to mention I am also using the ultra versions of rocks, snow, and trees. They are probably 4k versions. In addition, I'm running the 4096 SRO Mountains add-on. Would any of these be making my RAM usage ridiculously high in particular? -
I think you're right. I think it's just crossfire that doesn't work. Haven't had crossfire in a while though so I can't confirm.
