I soooo miss the first 2 years of World of Warcraft, I was in a awesome RP guild that raided and pvp'd in character on ventrilo. Those were the days when loot was hard to come by, monsters hard to kill and pvp new and exciting. /reminisce I'm dreaming of a renaissance when TES Online comes out :fingerscrossed:

So far their has been no focus on new mods at all, currently cleaning up mod installation instructions, massively improving format and information, and getting rid of any problems or outdated material. We'll see how much gets released at once depending on how the testing goes. That said you can bet that I'll be pushing for many of my suggestions to be included as appropriate, in base or as an optional pack.

I think Ruins has been updated to include it now but I still think that burial urn retex was better, such is the nexus though.

SIS - Skyrim Installation Swapper This little gem of a utility allows you to install skyrim up to 10 times,  have 3 different versions of STEP running, plus an alpha version your working on, a vanilla version for testing out individual mods, etc... This will go into the testing wiki as mandatory until MIMI is ported to Skyrim.

Currently only being updated on Dark Creations all problems with 1.6 have been resolved at the cost of deleting a few hundreds dialogue fixes for now.

That is out of the box configuration no meddling on my part for this particular install.

Well those things are in fact true, but if there is a problem with a manual install you have to start over from scratch in many cases. The guide is focused on installation only and not uninstallation, updating, or fixing problems. Only the mod managers can help you can help with those problems, and to restart from scratch is easy as pie if you make a zip file of your Vanilla Skyrim folder before any customization. Its also good practice to make a full backup of the skyrim folder after completing a full STEP installation, these types of things are included in the Wiki but very few seem to be reading them, the wiki guides are featured a bit more prominently in the new STEP guide so we shall see.

The textures folder isn't gonna help you with any UI installs, you need a full vanilla backup. As for the guide glossing over stuff its made pretty clear that installing stuff manually is only for masochists, we have emphasized it more and changed it to a more positive wording in the new guide.

Uninstalling manually almost never works, you can try doing an integrity check and see if that helps. If not, I'd suggest reverting to a vanilla install (if you made a clean backup) or deleting skyrim and reinstalling if you didn't.

Clearly you are not getting clean uninstalls if you are having issues like these. Skyrim works just fine without any interface mods and will work fine again if you uninstall them.

I'm not opposed to a faint glow but that's ridiculous. Other than that a fabulous idea and implementation.

you need to completely uninstall each interface mod. might be easier to just uninstall them all and put one back at a time. If NMM is working correctly you will be left with just Translate_ENGLISH.txt in your interface folder.

For me I was running with all settings in steam set to do not update, and running in online mode, and Skyrim unplugged ver 1.4 set to disable. I haven't touched UAC or Administrator rights on this computer at all its a fresh windows install (2 weeks or so) with all defaults for the system and for files. Also a completely vanilla skyrim install. It occurred after literally dozens of launchings of the game from the launcher rebuilding the ini's in various configs each time and playing through the intro.

screenshots are the worst possible way to compare, as the effects look vastly different based on your system and installed mods. We'll eventually work out a standardized procedure that will at least make screenshots somewhat useful but for now testing yourself is the only way.

It's a known issue with 1.6 and interface mods, since it doesn't always occur their may also be a driver component, so upgrade your driver as a first step and test, then uninstall interface mods one by one till you find the culprit.

I'm not trusting anything but a full 7zip backup of the skyrim directory (which I have if I need it). I'm not actually playing skyrim right now anyway. Windows has never had any kind of decent file protections so its not very surprising.

I don't run anything with admin rights. It deleted them anyway. Its rather annoying but there is still no safe way to run the launcher :P
