NetImmerse Override
Luinithil replied to xiamthewalrusx's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
AFAIK NetImmerse is in, but CharGen isn't included in the RaceMenu download by default-- I might be mistaken of course... -
The basic thing to remember when installing mods: read all readmes in full, make sure you know what version of a mod you're installing, check for stated conflicts with other mods if applicable (e.g. if you're going to install RLO, make sure you don't have something like ELnFX active as well) and then only use patches you need.
-
Crashing to desktop-- you probably have missing masters. Those ESPs you listed are patch ESPs that serve as compatibility patches for two or more mods, and need you to have both mods installed. Do you have ALL the mods needed installed? Are you using BOSS? What messages is BOSS giving you?

why does Mod Organizer have so many flags?
Luinithil replied to voridian's question in Mod Organizer Support
Depends on what is conflicting with what. Sometimes MO gets confused when you shift mods around in the left hand (installation order) pane, so that indicator's a good thing, since it helps you see if there's something being overwritten that shouldn't be. -
SKYRIMLE Prostitute of Skyrim, a no porn mod!
Luinithil replied to MannyGT's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
If this ever makes it into STEP, it'd probably be an immersion-centric pack, not Core; most people can probably live without any sight or sound of the world's oldest profession in game. ;) The mod is a nice idea though. -
Haven't we had this discussion before some 2 months back? The legal permission and hosting issues were deemed to be too much of a time sink to make uploading patches worth it, from what I recall.

He didn't mislabel it; back when that section of the guide was typed up the version of TES5Edit in use was 3.0.29, and that record's function was unknown-- now that it's been decoded, in 3.0.30 we know it's Max Height and that's what it is labeled as. Nothing new to see here.

Oh hey someguy, thanks for stepping in here and explaining. BTW, I think if you PM z929669 on the Nexus to confirm your identity, you can get a nice shiny Mod Author badge here. vfxninjaeditor, for sound and lighting changes, I'd definitely expand and look at *all* the Cell records in Skyrim.esm as well as the DLC ESMs-- if anything's been changed by SoS, CoT, RLO or that ilk, you'll see it there, and patching is pretty fast in TES5Edit, just very tedious. I recall taking about 45 minutes to run through Skyrim.esm and everything to patch every cell I could find a conflict in for CoT/RLO and SoS compatibility. SoS incompatibility, from what I've seen is mainly due to it changing the type of soundspace used in a given cell from the vanilla to the SoS defined one-- e.g. from vanilla LargeInteriorWoodenAcoustic (well something like that) to SoSLargeInteriorWoodenAcoustic, and which presumably contains all the extra background noises. CoT changes regional weather types and other things like colors, fog distance, RLO changes lighting, color, imagespaces. For perk changes-- I guess it depends on whether or not something else in the load order changes the perk as well.

Also, 8 ESPs? That's somewhat excessive.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Luinithil replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Looked at UDBP's changelog, don't think there's anything in there either that would need our SR installs as of now to be changed. Of course merged patches and bashed patches and SUM probably need redoing for safety's sake, but other than that I didn't see anything that would pertain to SR patches. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Luinithil replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Hmm. From the changelog, only fix that got reverted this time for the UHFP is a NIF/texture one; rest of it I don't think ever got touched during SR patching. Feel free to correct me if that's not true of course. -
[BUM]Nothing in the left lower pane
Luinithil replied to nubkratos's question in General Skyrim LE Support
MO 0.99 has broken functionality when using BUM. Revert to 0.12.9 for BUM to work. -
STEP-Should we clean dirty edits?
Luinithil replied to 1on1z3d's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Cleaning is usually good practice while running a modded Skyrim. And if you want to go a step further (pun not really intended), making those compatibility patches where you need them for the STEP mods in SR as Neo's guide does is also a good idea. -
My preference would be to avoid ENB actually since my card's performance is somewhat limited: it's not very low-end, but not what would be considered powerful either with all the texture mods and whatnot I have running. :P That and I want as much performance as I can squeeze out of my rig. I'm certain there are others like me out there too. Now, is it possible to find INI settings like these that will look good for CoT/RLO users? Logic says yes but the time invested might get tedious in a hurry. I can get what the RGB settings do, obviously, but what does the gamma setting do?
-
According to the modder, apparently the key INI tweaks here are [Display] bDo30VFog=1 bDoTestHDR=1 bAllow30Shaders=1 bUseSunbeams=1 [bLightAttenuation] fLinearValue=5.0000 SkyrimPrefs.ini [General] fBrightLightColorB=1.0000 fBrightLightColorG=1.5000 fBrightLightColorR=1.2000 [Display] fGamma=1.3700 I do think these INI tweaks might be something to consider for those who prefer not to use CoT and RLO.

The color balance differs (more red and blue than vanilla), and shadows are softened, as a friend commented earlier. More red in the color palette, and outside lighting has a more blueish hue than vanilla. If you go to the album with the other comparison pics I uploaded, you can tell from the pictures taken inside Bleak Falls Barrow.

is there a chat or something like that ?
Luinithil replied to schrecksekunde's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If you can get to Mibbit, that might work for IRC... -
General Support Thread
Luinithil replied to Solist's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Thing with these types of programs is that in my prior experience is that they're finicky; when it says it wants C++ 2008 that's exactly what it wants, and it won't work with 2010. Try installing the 2008 package alongside the 2010 version and see if the problem with 303 doesn't clear up. Odd though. The Bashed Patch is where it's supposed to be when running under MO, so that's fine. -

Luinithil replied to Solist's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Been on 303 eer since I started using WB and all works. Hmm. C++ error sounds like you may not have the right Visual C++ package, or that got messed up somehow. the read me says you nee the "MSVC++ 2008 redistributable at https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?familyid=ba9257ca-337f-4b40-8c14-157cfdffee4e&displaylang=en". Otherwise, maybe it's where you installed Wrye Bash? Not sure otherwise. -
conflicts with unofficial patches !?
Luinithil replied to schrecksekunde's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Conflicts with the Unofficial Patches is mostly fine, really, just relax. It's why they are meant to come early in the load order, so that anything that needs to override the patches can do so. Texture conflicts aren't a big issues unless they're popping up in game at the wrong places. Crashes at startup usually means you've a missing master; have you looked at Wrye Bash to see if you're missing anything some mod in your load order needs? -
Comparison settings: No other texture packs were used in all test pictures except the HDDLC (optimised version). Vanilla pics taken at default ultra settings. All pics taken with 4x AA in Skyrim launcher, in game brightness at default, iMaxAnisotropy=1 in all INIs used. I sadly forgot to enable 8x AF via Nvidia Inspector, d'oh! Pure vanilla> Vanilla INI with COT/RLO > Vanilla with tweaked INI > COT/RLO with tweaked INI Vanilla > Vanilla lighting with tweaked INI. Â Pure vanilla> Vanilla INI with COT/RLO > Vanilla with tweaked INI > COT/RLO with tweaked INI NB: Full test screenshots album, with all 14 sets of comparison pics here. Linked earlier in my last post-- in-game outdoor screenshots in various weather conditions and lighting, taken outside of STEP testing process, again with no other texture packs or mods except the DLCs, tweaked INIs, 8x AF from Nvidia driver enabled; apologies as I can't remember whether AA was on or not, but possibly no-- with COT and without COT. I would suggest that anyone who wants to contribute more test shots do so with AF at 8x enabled (8x is recommended by the modder) particularly for outdoor shots.

Too many to list. But one of my all-time favourites has to be Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells and Music of the Spheres. For others: well have my Last.fm profile: https://www.last.fm/user/ArianneG

Can't even run Vanilla anymore...
Luinithil replied to Phyrre56's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well, I did calibrate my monitor beforehand. I've tested the INI changes with CoT and without, and while acceptable, I think the INI changes look better without CoT, so I definitely have to mess around with the values on my own to find a better setting for CoT. Note to mods: Not sure why I ended up with a double post here when I thought I was editing my previous post: apologies, please delete the previous post. Thanks. -
Can't even run Vanilla anymore...
Luinithil replied to Phyrre56's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I did recalibrate my monitor before testing the tweaks out. I'm going to post some links to screenshots over at the mods' thread to avoid off topic here. I do see some nice improvements to the colors in vanilla from those tweaks, but if you're using CoT it's not as apparent, so I'd say that tehse tweaks are a good place to start from. I do still need to figure out the right RGB balance etc. for CoT-- at the moment the settings as is make for slightly faded/washed out colours in the sky when CoT is installed and active.
