Yea RCRN plus definitely has some black smoke which is a little annoying, but my fps hit was on the order of 3 or 4 fps which is trivial. Â Especially since I found ENB redundant with RCRN plus (and most ENBs are ~10 fps hits for me). I tried tweaking the sun rays and bloom in the .ini settings but I found a rather annoying trade off between the quality of the image and the size of the sun. So yea I went back to regular RCRN with fxaa (Still haven't tested ENBs with vanilla rcrn).

Personal preference 4 > 1 ~~ 3 >>>> 2. Â I think I prefer 1 to 3 a little bit, but since i've used it a lot in action it does tend to make a few too many crinkly faces and it gets old fast.

RCRN plus is ridiculously beautiful, but it has a few things that are downright weird. Â The sunglare and enormous sun in the sky is great for the lighting (it makes everything so crisp -- perhaps a little too crisp), but is totally distracting when you actually look up.

Curious why did you remove Rainbows? -
Hmm, well I had a similar issue. Â There is something going on with smoke textures and DDSopt but I left for xmas vacation before I could test it more thoroughly (curently without computer for another week or so) although I only saw it when I had RCRN active. eg: Some pixelation and compression artifacts using the current settings posted in this thread. Â Anyway, its likely a user error, but I was wondering a bit about whether it might be a version difference as well.

I'm almost positive the problem is only in one or two textures in the HRDLC set if at all. Â The biggest thing that the guide needs to change is to update it with the new settings that is in the forum posts (zgradients etc), otherwise replication will be impossible. It is also highly probable (>90% chance) that it was some installation mistake on my behalf to begin with, since in the other thread Z mentions he has no problem with the same setup. I am not in front of my computer now, but I will try to isolate the specific texture, repeat the process and see if it goes away if I have time before xmas.

That is what I thought as well, but unfortunately the artifacts disappear when I remove the HRDLC packages from the install.  So, I have no STEP install at all, just pure game with RCRN and HRDLC 1 + HRDLC2.  If I remove the latter the problem goes away.  If I include unoptimized HRDLC1+2 instead the problem doesn't reappear, so it's clearly the DDSOPT textures that are causing the problems and RCRN isn't rewriting over those particular problematic textures.. In fact, the artifacts look very much like some sort of standard compression artifact. Now, since I have been playing with the DDSOPT textures for awhile without any problem using a different lighting mod without noticing a problem, I strikes me as some sort of incompatibility, or perhaps some sort of weird graphic card glitch. Of course it is also very possible that I bungled the DDsopt install at some point

Hi i'm having issues with the fog, certain sunray and grey sky textures from the HLDLC1-2 packs (after the DDSOP procedure listed in the Wiki and in z's posts) using RCRN 3.6. Â This is a perfectly clean install, no additional mods and fresh ini/saves. Â Using a Nvidia 680 4gb. I have been using these optimized texture packs for the past week with no problem using any other lighting mod, but for some reason RCRN hates them. Â The artifacts go away when I use the original unoptimized DLCs.

So i'm pretty sure I have just isolated an incompatibility/glitch between RCRN v.36 and DDSOPTing the HRDLC1 and HRDLC2 textures as explained in the DDSOPT section on these forums.  (I used Z's settings and method etc) I have done a clean install/clean save with fresh .inis.  Absolutely zero additional mods.  When using RCRN classic, there is some pixelation in some of the textures, in particular grey skies, certain sunrays and in some of the fog textures. Disabling those packs removes the artifacts, and installing the usual unaltered DLC packs also removes the problem. It's rather sad, b/c I have seen absolutely no problem or graphical artifact with these altered DDSOPT packs with any other lighting system.  All the textures look perfect, and the performance boost is significant.  Nevertheless something about RCRN is picking out tiny 1*1 textures and amplifying them. It's possible of course that I have screwed up the DDSOPT process, but I can't seem to pick out anything wrong in the textures perse by inspection.

I had issues with the beta as an FYI. Â Project ENB + .119 would periodically turn green. Â I'll upgrade and try these out eventually.

[q] small snowy rock/dirt/ice texture - [SOLVED]
haelfix replied to haelfix's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yea those are the correct textures, and in fact they look great in almost every circumstance and by inspection (high res etc), except when there is some sort of very bright night sky (like an aurora or when the galaxies are out). Â I've even tried installing the blue and black variants to see if that fixes it. With a vanilla STEP install, do you not get the same problem? Â I'm genuinely curious. Â The only other thing I could think off, is that its some sort of ini or graphic card setting that i've bungled somewhere. In fact, with COT present and absolutely no other MOD I can replicate the same pattern. -
[q] small snowy rock/dirt/ice texture - [SOLVED]
haelfix replied to haelfix's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yea, so I have isolated it. Straight forward STEP install via the guide, all the way to 3.10 climates of Tamriel + dawnguard where I pick a vanilla nights package (unlike STEP recommendation). That's the culprit, and it only shows up afaics at night during certain weather systems at eg bleak fall barrows. I have dynamic snow installed, and it still shows up. I'm not quite sure how to proceed in getting rid of it. ENB or no ENB (project ENB for COT), its still there. So disabling the CoT - VanillaNights.esp file fixes the issue? Negative, i've tried all 4 variants as well as simply not selecting any. The only way the problem goes away is if I disable COT entirely. For reference, the picture at the bottom of the following link is what it looks like (only even more visible at night). It's some sort of illumination problem on that particular rock. https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/686605-project-reality-climates-of-tamriel/page__st__1930 -

[q] small snowy rock/dirt/ice texture - [SOLVED]
haelfix posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have been going through texture packs for the past hour or so and its driving me nuts, b/c there is one texture that I can't seem to find. Scattered throughout Skyrim are these small rock like textures. Â For instance in Bleak fall barrows, right before the steps they appear and make a sharp contrast with the snow. Â At night, they appear blue, and its incredibly distracting. I'm pretty sure these are not related directly to snow textures, as I have uninstalled most of my snow packs and they remain. Anyone have any suggestions about what it is, (and if you know, which textures do you use) -
question regarding Wrye Bash, installer tab and install all - [SOLVED]
haelfix replied to haelfix's question in Wrye Bash Support
Thanks, that helped a ton. -
I'm probably missing something really obvious, but I can't seem to select all the packages in the installer tab in Wrye Bash and install all at once by load order. You can uninstall all, which I frequently do in order to generate new clean saves, but its weird that I have to manually go through each package and install each one manually 1 by 1. Â IT becomes quite a hassle when you have 200+ mods. Is there a way to do this? Â Thanks!
