Quick Stability Test Question
flyingspatula replied to flyingspatula's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks, I'll try seeing if I can find that thread if its on this forum. That does sound logical, maybe running around on the ground fast but slow enough ai will spawn in each cell would work better. Yes, further input is always hepful. I may try testing the crazy way on a mod-less setup and see if it crashes too. -
I am working on a partial STEP setup no further than "2.G. Landscape & Environment" and I just wanted to get some insight on my way of testing for stability. I basically use god mode, no clip, 1500 running speed, timescale 10000, and fly around low enough to load in textures until it crashes or freezes. This is usually lasts 15-30 minutes. Given the speed at which I am moving around Skyrim, is it reasonable that I get these kind of crashes eventually or do I have some further fixing to do? I am not running out of vram and I am typically using about 1gb of memory for both Skyrim and the Enb running. Rather than asking someone to look at my load order etc, I first want to make sure this is a valid way to test for stability or if it's a far too intense way to test that will always result in a crash. Thanks

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
flyingspatula replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Sorry, I only read back a few pages from here... Is this still technically pre-release or have you officially declared it completely tested and ready? I have been going through the updated one and am impressed! I just have to figure out what mods don't play nice with SkyRe outside of the compatibility patches for the proccer. -
Hey, I really wanted to refrain from making one of these kind of threads for help since it tends to require someone to look through a rather large list and log which sounds tedious but I have tried just about all I can at this point. I am using MO and have the Baseline setup. My problem is that my game seems to CTD anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes by just running around the world rather than any real interaction with anyone and doesn't appear to have any relation to where I am during the crash. Using RealVision ENB with everything disabled for the time being. This still allows for my VRAM to be separate from the game and never peak over 2.5GB usage.Skyrim.exe has yet to use more than 1GB of memory before crashing. As stated above, my VRAM averages around 2GB leaving quite a bit left for my video card.Have cleaned the listed ESP's from the guide and am using (Baseline) HRDLC Optimized.Tested with multiple vanilla only fresh saves and .INI's not part of MO.Thanks! Here is my mod list and order. Active Mod Files: Here are 3 logs of CTD's just by running around the world. The only thing I see before the crash is BIRDS and DUALSHEATHREDUX, but I can't say if they occurred during the CTD or a few seconds prior each time. Just showing last few lines on second and third log due to post limit. Full of log 1: End of log 2: End of log 3: Windows 7 64bit 8GB RAM Intel i5 3570k @ 3.5GHz GeForce GTX 780Ti Samsung 128GB 840PRO (Skyrim & Mod Organizer installed)

Mod Install Limit? (not esp limit)
flyingspatula replied to flyingspatula's question in Mod Organizer Support
Wow, I could almost swear it would not install any mods past 255 when I tried. It would install but simply not show up on the left. Seems to be working now. I feel pretty stupid then considering I had been using MO for so long. Not sure what I did but all seems to be working after reapplying my mods. Fortunately I am not even close to the plugin limit. Thanks for the replies. Thanks! -
Hey, installing all the mods from STEP seems to almost reach the maximum allowed installed mods on MO. I understand why the ESP limit is 255, but why is MO also limited? Most of the mods do not even have an ESP. Will I need to combine texture/mesh only mods to have more than 255 mods installed in MO? Thanks

Thanks for the reply! Good to know it's not from my game capping out on memory usage. I have 3GB VRAM and never cap that so I should be okay with the STEP textures. I may have to make a new thread for help with a fresh STEP installation causing CTD's (even after removing my ENB). I usually test the CTD by running around the world for a while without any interactions and it will eventually crash even in the middle of nowhere with less than 2GB of system memory being used. Papyrus always shows a lot of errors with the main STEP setup.

Hi, I have a simple and perhaps stupid question but when using an ENB, you have the ENB and Skyrim running. My ENB usually consumes about 800MB of system memory (not referring to VRAM), while Skyrim currently sits around 2GB. I have been having CTD's and just want to make sure I am not getting crashes due to the 3.1 cap. The ENB and Skyrim are completely separate in terms of the 3.1GB cap correct? My game should still be able to use another 1GB before it hits the cap, or are both combined meaning I am hitting the 3.1GB cap due to ENB? Thanks

ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
flyingspatula replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I just ended up putting it at the end of Sound letting it overwrite everything, but I also moved Improved Animal Footsteps to the bottom after AOS so I don't hear footsteps from animals looping. -

flyingspatula replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I currently have AOS + Legendary DLC patch + COT patch, but I was wondering if it would be logical to use a majority of the STEP sound mods, but overwrite them with AOS. Then any sounds AOS doesn't touch would still be useful? Edit - I noticed a majority of the files do not get overwritten. Does this mean AOS doesn't touch some sounds, or that it leaves some vanilla but the mod itself alters the way they work? I just assume if I had some sound mods, and then overwrote most with AOS then I will have some leftover sounds but they simply won't sound quite the same as most of the AOS sounds. Is this correct? Thanks -

flyingspatula replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have been out of the mod loop for a while. Is this mod still in an unfinished state, or is it a well recommended sound mod that is save to use? I don't mind not using the Immersive Sound mods for this if its actually finished. -
wanted Installing ASIS and SkyRe with some additional stuff
flyingspatula replied to Iroha's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
What is the main difference between SkyRe with and SkyRe without ASIS? From what I understand, I should use everything on SkyRe except the Enemy Level Scaling and use ASIS instead? Also, how important are the compatibility patches? The Balbor one is easy to use, but the compatibility patch has so much stuff that I don't understand any of it. I am using mostly STEP mods right now, but I don't see how most of them can interfere with SkyRe anyway. -

Is this mod complete in terms of no sounds that still need added/changed? Like, I may just use this instead of SOS if all the sounds are tweaked and is no longer a *work in progress*. I see there is a COT patch which is great, but will I have any issues with what other people mentioned RLO or any combat sound mods? Will other mod sounds just sound a bit different and have no reverb? As long as they would actually work then that isn't a big deal to me. -
Need Advice on MO Overwrite
flyingspatula replied to Raptaur's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I actually just made a similar thread about this. Basically, ensure that both mods have appropriately extracted the files into the overwrite and then drag the associated files/folder from the overwrite onto the mod itself and just hit merge. It is that simple as far as I understand. -
ACCEPTED aMidianBorn Book of Silence (by CaBaL)
flyingspatula replied to EisDrache's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I seem to be getting purple textures for the Skyforge weapons/armor. I have the Skyforge esp loaded after GDO and have tried re-installing it several times. Anyone else actually got it working? -Edit: Just realized there is an actual optional fix download for this specific problem. -
Wow, thank you for that informative post. I understand what it's all about now. I sort of figured it out shortly after posting too, so I'm not sure why I could not previously drag over to the originating mods. It all makes sense now. Every time I run any kind of non BASHED patcher, I just merge it back into the original mod folder again. I leave the bashed in the overwrite so it always at the end I assume. Appreciate all the help. Thanks!

Hey, I have watched a few MO videos and tutorial links but none seem to go into any detail regarding the Overwrite folder. When I try to install STEP, I end up with a few mods in the Overwrite folder and never know what to do with them. It will say to drag them on top of a mod, but that never does anything. Then if I reinstall a mod that had something previously in the overwrite folder, it will now no longer be there. Could anyone somewhat explain or link me somewhere that explains this? I am just not sure if something is not installed correctly if it appears in the overwrite folder but then other times reinstalling causes it to no longer be there. Skyproc/DSR seems to always be in the overwrite folder as well. Thanks

Hi, I'm setting up my Mod Organizer with 3 separate profiles and I realized I won't be able to effectively fit Skyrim + mods all on my 128GB SSD. Has anyone tried installing vanilla Skyrim on an SSD, then Mod Manager on a HDD with all the mods? I assume this will work, however, will I benefit in any way with faster texture streaming? I have heard in the past having a game on an SSD and textures on a HDD is faster but not as fast as if both were on an SSD, of course. Has anyone tried this? Thanks
-
That sounds very reasonable. Would it be productive to go ahead and download a majority of the current STEP selected mods? I do have Mod Organizer set up with 3 Skyrims. Default/Modded Game/Test Mods. I could just try all the mods I find interesting until next STEP. Good idea. Thanks

Hey, I have noticed quite a bit of new mods being released in a more finished state the past few months since the last STEP update. I am just wondering if anyone might have a somewhat accurate estimate of the next STEP update? I have been waiting a few months for the next version to start playing again for a fresh restart. My main thought was that if I do it now, I would download everything get it installed and then a new major STEP update comes not long after and I will want to change it all again. Thanks

Hey, just curious what most of you use between Wrye Bash and Mod Organizer. I have used both, but never really got a complete and finished STEP installation alongside other mods. I noticed both are not really updated anymore so just wondering what you guys prefer to use. I understand Wrye just fine due to Oblivion days, but some mods are a bit more difficult to install with it and require some manual directory editing. Mod Organizer makes installing extremely easy, but I still question its reliability with installations due to how it moves files around. Do many of u use both perhaps? Thanks

Baseline - Memory Usage?
flyingspatula replied to flyingspatula's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well crap, seems it does it on other games as well... Sigh. I already uninstalled, cccleaned and re-installed all drivers multiple times. Gah. -
Baseline - Memory Usage?
flyingspatula replied to flyingspatula's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I ran some FRAPS frame render tests to verify if it is caused by micro stuttering but I don't think that is the issue. I logged approximately 3 seconds of the game moving forward along the same road watching as I snapped back every second. I tested both with and without an fps limiter as well as in windowed mode. All still had the same stuttering. I ran my first test without a limiter. I was averaging about 100fps in 120hz. Graph fluctuation COULD be due to 5fps fluctuation. Second test here is with an fps limit of 60 in 120hz. My average fps was 60, with min/max of 60. As you can see, the graph is near perfect. However, the screen was still stuttering in game. I ran a third test in windowed mode, but did not upload the graph as it was identical to the second graph. I really don't understand what could be causing all this since it can't be micro-stuttering or video card struggling to render frames. If this is a software issue (Skyrim), I cant understand how most people are fine but some (like me) are not. The exact feeling of the stutter is similar to what the above poster stated except it feels as if you are being jerked forward a step every second. That alone made me assume it was because a frame was rendering too slow which would make sense, but any test I have done says otherwise. I really am lost here. *Render Frames Ahead* had no change as well unfortunately. Thanks
