Right, apparently this mod may cause horrible icky problems with your skyrim, maybe. I have no clue how to mod apart from some basics, but apparently the mod author is manually editing areas around skyrim to achieve the effect. And this manual editing is apparently not a good thing. I would not use it yet and consider it a very early WIP. But i would track it. Thanks, these re-textures look great!

If you dont have skyrim already, then nope :( As soon as you install skyrim from disc, or dl from steam and install from steam, the latest patch will be automatically downloaded. You could use SU, but then you would be on skyrim release version, 1.0, totally unpatched. There is no option to preferentially choose which patches to downloaded or not with SU, its either all or nothing. For SU to work with patch 1.5 and delay 1.6, you would need to already have patch 1.5 installed when using SU. And if you dont have a personal backup of skyrim 1.5 files, then there is no way to legally obtain the 1.5 files.

I am using 297.1, and it broke skse mods by removing .ini files. It also broke the Interesting NPCs mod, by removing a DialogueViews folder (or maybe its for the CK, cant check atm) from the Data directory. I think it also removed a folder called LSData from the Data directory. Again, cant remember off the top of my head where that came from. But yeah, thankfully i decided to check the Data directory after the clean data option before launching the game and notice it looked, very, very, empty.

uGridsToLoad Limit: maximum allocated RAM on 64bit < 3GB?
MadWizard25 replied to PatimPatam's question in General Skyrim LE Support
@ PatimPatam Yep, CTD with higher uGrids values is most certainly linked to how much VRAM you have. Actually just thrashed this out (again), with some other people, a week or 2 ago on another thread, here, https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1380897-ugridstoload-7-freezing/page__fromsearch__1 Short story was trade off between hi-res texture mods and higher ugrids values. I can run ugrids 9 on vanilla, with occasional ctds, and 7 is rock solid. However, using step mods, and even 1024 versions, i cannot use anything but the default ugrids value of 5. CTDs are always around areas that require a lot of vram. Removing all large hi-res texture packs (SRO and 2KHD) let me run on 7 again. And thats with a 2GB VRAM card. With 3GB you should be able to run hi-res texture mods and ugrids 7, lucky you :) One of my personal projects for skyrim it somehow achieve hi-res textures with and ugrids value of 7, but no time atm. Thats why your comment helps so much, I dont have to test so many variables in the future :) -
Ok word of warning, do not use the WB clean function! It will remove items that are required by the game and mods.

STEP v2.1.1b Bug Reports [Official]

Skyrim Modding Initiation Hazing Ritual Complete! Burned as well, 1.4 i think it was, and now i smile cynically while observing the mass of "1.6 Broke my Modded Game" post that are flooding in on nexus and bethesda forums. -
Ha, totally forgot about the EnableContainerCategorization file until this post, thxs for that :P ArchiveInvaidation.bsa can be removed, I think it was only for oblivion. As fri mentioned, verify integrity of cache should fix string issue, but I think you need to turn of skyrim unplugged as well? I have had issues if steam needs to download files after verify and SU is active. Could be wrong though, maybe SU is just for patches. Be careful though, it might just sneak in the 1.6 patch as well :) If you dont want to verify, then you can download the english strings here; https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2889

A little off topic, but regarding knowledge accumulation, a friend sent me an interesting opinion article if anyone's interested. Take it with a grain of salt though, the writer is an anarchist and anti-capitalism (bit of a fallacy to bring this up, but it shows; plenty of bias), and its melodramatic, but the basic message is intriguing. Basically he posits that we have shot ourselves in the foot due to bureaucracy in science and most knowledge industries due to the industrial age, more specifically since the 1960s. Knowledge accumulation could be much faster today, but institutions are so bureaucratic thats its slowed things. My assumption was we had just picked the low hanging fruit, we have discovered many simpler concepts, and now the more complex questions raised by the simpler concepts are being research. Allegedly, no matter how well you educate your workforce today, we wont be seeing the leaps and bounds of discovery that we had pre-1960s or even though we most certainly have people as smart. https://www.thebaffler.com/past/of_flying_cars I now suspect its a mix of both bureaucracy and low hanging fruit, but had never considered this argument before. Fits with what ive experienced in research though. He paints a pretty sad picture.

SKYRIMLE Vibrancy an ENB Series adaptation
MadWizard25 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Thats good news :) Later rather than sooner if more testing and tweaking is required! -
Short answer: It does not matter which program you use to launch skyrim, as long as you launch through SKSE. Long answer. I would recommend using NMM as a tracking/ download tool and WS as a installing tool. Why? WS lets you see mod conflicts and overwrites, while NMM does not. However, WS is more complicated to use. NMM is fine if you follow STEP guide perfectly, but as soon as you want more flexibility and wish to use other mods you may want to learn how to use WS. So yeah, since you mention "doing things", it may be better to bite the bullet and learn how to exclusively use WS. It will mean much less hassle in the long run.

Awkwardly bright ENB - Maybe gamma issue?
MadWizard25 replied to Holymartyr's question in Post-Processing Support
I cant seem to view your pictures anymore, but overbrightness is an issue ive run into with most ENB configurations. Its actually fixable via tweaking certain values from ENB. Its not quick, as you have test out changing values of several settings by small increments. For what values to specifically change, I would recommend downloading Skyrim Enhanced Shaders FX ENB, and reading the pdf that comes with it. It is by FAR the most detailed explanation of ENB settings i have ever seen. He covers almost all tweakable values, and includes pictures as well, especially when concerning brightness. I have also found that ENBs that use RLwC also tend to be overbright. I switch RLwC for URWL usually. -
uGridsToLoad Limit: maximum allocated RAM on 64bit < 3GB?
MadWizard25 replied to PatimPatam's question in General Skyrim LE Support
No excuses, if you can write a forum post you are certainly capable of some punctuation intellectually. Your grammar does not "suck", you just willfully choose not to apply it, even when politely asked to do so. No one expects perfect spelling or grammar of you. You are correct that not every action in life is courteous. However, when courtesy is asked for and still rejected, as you have done, especially when regarding an easy action such as pressing a few more extra keys, some may take that as an insult and/ or impolite behavior. So get punctuating :) Edit: Must remind myself, do not feed the trolls! -

Im struggling to choose between this mod and the Claralux + shadows striping fix combo. Just starting modding again and tried out both sets, and its a hard choice. -
SKYRIMLE Vibrancy an ENB Series adaptation
MadWizard25 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have tried about 15 or so ENB setups, and they never looked good to me, always came back to URWL in the end. That was then. I downloaded and tried at Vibrancy ENB v4.0, and thought, hey, this is actually close to what I would like! So after some extensive testing (re installing Skyrim, redoing STEP, bla bla etc etc), and tweaking, I finally have a good ENB setup :) Using High Performance version with no DOF or SSAO, 8xSMAA coupled with 8xTRSSAA, 1920x1080, weather effects, sun rays, and shadows. Dropped CLO and RLwC; still decided to go with URWL. Some more tweaks such as lowering color saturation and decreasing washed out brightness look and voila, magnificence! However, when toggling the ENB on and off ingame, I get a 20fps drop when activated. Thats with high performance version and no DOF or SSAO. Thats fine because I was at 60fps average beforehand, but its still seems a little steep considering the options I chose. Oh well, cant have everything in life -
Help - Exterior World Space Freezes and CTDs
MadWizard25 replied to MadWizard25's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks, I was getting freezes at exactly the same place, but i had already DDSopt-imized the vanilla textures, the DLC textures, and the Hi-Res packs textures. I did optimize any other of the textures mods though, such as armor of foliage. Maybe i should :) -
CPU affinity - two different approaches
MadWizard25 replied to Vond's question in General Skyrim LE Support
So if I have an i5-2400, which has 4 physical cores but no hyperthreading, I would also expect to see around 20% cpu utilization for Skyrim? This seems a bit low, but understandable if the load is spread across 4 cores. However, doesnt Skyrim only use 2 cores? Even if it works only 2 cores, the cpu utilization still seems very low for a game... Ill follow sb4n's instructions using PerfMon and post results as well. -
Sluggish FPS, gpu-z and SPM reporting high VRAM use still sounds like you are running out of VRAM. Also be aware that VRAM use measurements are not really accurate, i think +/-5% is a good range, and in addition windows itself can take up to 100MB VRAM so you still might be hitting the ceiling. The new beta drivers should offer improvements for skyrim, especially if they are nvidia. How many other background processes are you running as well (apart from SPM or gpu-z)? You can use a program called gamebooster to ensure that all other programs and services are shut down allowing skyrim easier access to your computers resources. You can also use a program called CCleaner to clear all redundant files from your computer, as these can also have an effect. In addition, the same program will also clean up your registry. You should also defrag the driver that contains skyrim fully. These things may help. Regarding the Hi-Res DLC from Bethesda, they state an absolute minimum of 1GB VRAM required to run it, and strongly recommend 1.5GB VRAM. With only 900MB VRAM you should consider Vano's Hi-Res Optimized DLC pack, and pick the lowest settings, this might give you the effects of the DLC with less a hit on performance. In any case im happy to hear its not crashing anymore :)

CPU affinity - two different approaches
MadWizard25 replied to Vond's question in General Skyrim LE Support
80C-85 shoudlnt be an issue, i would get worried if you start hitting 100C. Just to clarify, you have a quad core and you force skyrim to only use 2? -

Help - Exterior World Space Freezes and CTDs
MadWizard25 replied to MadWizard25's question in General Skyrim LE Support
@ z92 Yeah i think your correct, messed around with the setup too much now, probably done some damage :D Just need some good time spare for that. @Monty Ok, when i do the reinstall ill switch skyrim to my SSD. Will uninstall bf3 for a bit. Important question about this though, i will need to use steammover program for this, would not have space on the SSD for other steam games. Ive read somewhere that there are issues with the junction files created during this procedure with Skyrim and/or WB. In addition, i would also not be able to move the WB Skyrim Mods folder that contains all the mod archives due to space constraints again, would moving the Skyrim direction break WB in this regard? Or is a simple step of tweaking the bash.ini file? @auroreb, nice comp :P I did try raising the exterior cell buffer value as a fix, but it didnt work. However, ill test out an increase again with my new setup to see if it helps reduce stuttering. I also tried without any SoS mods, even the fix, and the CTDs/freezes persisted.
