SRLE Extended: Legacy of The Dragonborn
JUNKdeLUXE replied to Darth_mathias's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
ahh sorry.. Everything was working okay up until after I killed the Arbiter the first time. I did have some minor issues with quest steps not showing as completed in the Journal (like give Habiq back the ring), but after I killed the Arbiter and reset the timeline (first one for me btw) the automatons were still "awake" and attacking everyone. The tunnel to the arbiter would block off every time I entered it etc.. I "solved" it with MarkForDelete on the automatons and I TCL'ed through the rocks that were blocking the tunnel to the Arbiter. ps. I tried to reset the timeline several times in a row but it didn't fix anything. -

I just completed The Forgotten City (around lvl 40ish) and it was rather buggy and I needed to use a few console commands to complete it. Whether this was Skyrim being Skyrim, TFC being buggy or incompatibilities in the guide I don't know, just thought I should give you a heads up :) -

Thanks for the link Darth. I can't use it though, as I was very enthusiastic told to never mess with an ongoing game, as it would destroy it. Literally... ;) -

At lvl 40 I became the Arch Mage of the College of Winterhold and all is fine and dandy.. expect I get a CTD when I use the orb in the Arch Mage quarters. 1. Have common soul gem in bags 2. Click orb 3. Accept teleport 4. Get teleported to some high mountain. 5. Game autosaves 6. Info (top left corner) says "Dais Unlocked" 7. CTD (with no info from crash fixes) -
Random CTDs - Usually when saving and traveling
JUNKdeLUXE replied to JUNKdeLUXE's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hi Phazer, thanks for your reply, but I think I (mostly) have it fixed. I was/is on a new save, but I was running win 10 and according to Skyrim Performance Manager I used upwards of 4.300Gb of VRAM. I still have some random CTDs now that I migrated to Win 7, but not nearly as much. -

@Darth and that's totally fine :) I was just thrown a bit by the rhetoric in this thread when I mentioned I was having some issues and wanted to install a few bug fixes and ppl told me to start all over - Which I'm not gonna do. Should I encounter a non-fixable problem I'm finally done with Skyrim (Oldrim) after 6 years of fun. Regarding the Orphan Tear Mine/Cave it was a case of Skyrim being Skyrim and/or the possibility that I was in combat with some wolves half across the map when I tried to enter. I reverted to an earlier save before I was near the cave and proceeded from there making sure to kill everything I encountered. That fixed it. -

I'm around 75 hours in (lvl 31) and have (only) gotten some random CTDs and then one uber bug with a cave in the Helgen Reborn quest line.. I managed to fix that though. -

I possibly could build my own load order, but it would take a lot more time than following this one (which also have a lot more users for bug hunting). The problems I encounter in making my own load order, is that patches for compatibility between mods are all over the place and not always easy to find. It's true that I know enough of dyndolod, wryebash, merge plugins etc to do a lot of these steps myself, but one thing that all the guides on STEP don't really give you the tools to do yourself is TES5EDIT. Yes, I manually created the CR Neovalen made for his SRLE, but all that taught me was to follow an explicit guide and yes, I know how to do simple things in TES5EDIT, but I didn't learn how to really troubleshoot something. I have no idea what the various fixes I made in CR did or changed or why they were necessary. I could get the TES5EDIT bible, watch hours of Youtube videos on how to do stuff.. or I could take the easy way out and follow this otherwise amazing guide called SRLE Extended: Legacy of the Dragonborn. Don't get me wrong, I love that someone has made an effort to make this guide and moreso to keep it updated. But if it's not expected that you can do a 100% completed game with this guide, maybe tell that to the users thinking about installing it? :) -

Well problem is that the game is not stable.. it's stable enough for me to enjoy it (until I run into some gamebreaking or irritating bug) but there will always be 'something' that needs to be fixed either with a patch, TES5EDIT etc.. and it just sounded that if I encountered any of those bugs, I should download the fix and restart my game... which I've done for far too many times to care remembering. I'd like to finally complete not only Skyrim Vanilla (never played Dragonborn as I've had to restart before getting ther) but also enjoy all the mods that we've installed in this behemoth... and that means bug fixing existing games. -

So every time there is a bug fix or update to the guide we're expected to restart the he game? No wonder no one ever completed the game then ;) I'm sure there is a solution that won't break an ongoing game for us that have already started. -

Is it safe to use LOOT in an ongoing game? seem to remember that it might fubar something? -

so which version of the "animals no long run around the earth" do we use? SirJesto's or Darth's? and how should we install it? last in loadorder or just after skytest? -

No worries Lexy, you at least gave me some options to try. Anyways.. for some reason reverting to an earlier save fixed it for me.. so I probably didn't need to go back to win 7 - although that might help me with the random CTDs I've been having. Time will tell. ps... btw I'm not "raging".. just getting frustrated. I believe there is a difference :) -

As I mentioned a minute ago.. no one gave me any advice before now (when I started "raging") even though I've described the problem. Only possible solution that DarkLadyLexy gave me was to try out Win 7 as I was having high VRAM usage. These are the steps I've done so far: - Cleaned Save - Convert til Win 7 - Checked Helgen Reborn for errors in TES5EDIT - No crash reports from Crash Fixes (although I do get a random FootIK error once in a while when loading a save - not this particular save though) - I'm in the process of trying from an earlier save before I got to the cave and see if that somehow fixes it. -

I tried with and without ENB (shift F12 to disable it). -

I'm quite willing but so far none has responded to my other thread (I created just for this problem) so you're the only one that's given me some actions to actually take. Thanks for that. -

ARRGH!! I'm about to give up.. I KNOW I can enter the cave (when I was in slow motion mode - It wasn't brute force as I tried that) - but now I can't... ARRGGH !!! -

Seems the slow motion was related to me forgetting to setup the Nvidia Inspector profile for Skyrim.. but after the changes I can't enter the cave again.. trying a reload and see what happens.. very strange. -

so !! I finally migrated from Win 10 to Win 7 and I successfully exported and imported Skyrim, Mods, Tools etc to Win 7 and the game starts perfectly and I can now enter the Orphan Tear Cave that I could not enter in Win 10.. BUT.. everything is in slow motion... not sure why but there has to be a fix for it? -
I'm sure you know, but the wiki pages are down. 504s and 503s

I am making a backup of the following folders: Steamapps/common/Skyrim Modding tools folder (with MO and all other tools) My Documents/My Games/Skyrim those are the ones I know about, but I also know that Windows have a nasty habit of saving various files in hidden folders and I'm not sure if I need to backup those (or if Skyrim and mods even install these hidden files). -

I'm in the process of making a Win 7 USB dongle... so I can install Win 7 instead. Anyone know if it's possible to save Skyrim, mods, savegames, MO and all their individual settings and restore them again? Problem is my Skyrim is installed on my C: drive (which I will have to format to install Win 7). I have a 4TB backup disk though I could move stuff to - but I'm not sure if everything would work when I restored it. -

I know this sounds a bit harsh, but I'm getting frustrated with CTDs (most I guess is from VRAM. See my other post: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/12068-random-ctds-usually-when-saving-and-traveling). But I'm also getting what I expect small errors with scripts not working, CTD'ing when entering certain places etc. Latest example is constant CTD when I try to enter Orphan Tear Mine (Helgen Reborn)... Has no one ever play-tested this PACK in the fullest? why are there constant errors and CTDs? And if you know about them, why not inform your users about them so we can make an informed decision on whether to use the PACK or not? I'm slowly loosing my interest in playing SRLE Ext LOTD in the current iteration due to constantly having to restart the game. -

anyone got any ideas on how the best actions to reduce CTDs due to VRAM in an ongoing install? Getting a bit frustrated... grrrr :) -

Just a slight correction... You mean the right pane.
