And just like that a savior appears, TechAngel!!!!! Thank you, got tired of bashing my head trying to do this. :D

Hello, fell in love with Tetrachromatic ENB recently and being a core patch user - I also have ELE, and that messes with the interiors in ways that I don't like when combined with Tetra. I want to remove the dependency for ELE from the core patch, even though I have no idea how, wonder if JUST removing the dependency will do, or I will have to edit further. Anyway, the thing is, I can't even try, when I tick STEP core in tes5edit to open it, I receive an error and editing is disabled. Hopefully this isn't too much of a stupid question and I'm not missing something. :/ update, lol: JUST opened the patch again and no error this time, all I did was restart my PC.. very odd. So I guess my only question right now is what it would take to remove the dependency. Going to manually check all the ELE records and see where STEP core is mentioned, so far nothing under cell. I suspect that worldspace is where the records needed are. Hopefully this is the right way to go about doing something like this. Found cell records, but there are subrecords for some other patch, so by deleting the ELE record I'm deleting those as well... guess it's not possible?

ACCEPTED Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul (by kryptopyr)
varulv replied to darkside's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This is by far the best cooking & alchemy overhaul, two features that really really need an overhaul in my humble opinion. I thank you for this Krypto! I had this mod in my previous playthrough and I encountered a strange phenomenon, I noticed at some point that it took longer for me to save the game and decided to check the size of my saves, it was around 50mb, checked with save cleaner and found out many, MANY active instances relating to this mod. At that point I was bummed, mainly because of some other things about my game and performance issues (major hardware problems with my PC) so I ended up formatting my PC and upgrading a few parts, that is why I didn't bother saving some kind of report about this. I am sorry, I wish I could help in a real way, this 'report' of mine is shameful, but I thought I'd give it anyway. Under what circumstances scripts don't stop themselves properly, has it happened to anyone else? I don't know, perhaps it was the combination with some other mod that caused this, though I didn't have any other cooking/alchemy related mods, not even perk altering ones. -
Modding, bad scripts and the inevitability of bloating
varulv replied to varulv's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I see, so I guess a game that starts from 6mb and reaches 20 after ~70 hours of gameplay is rather normal. And yeah, second case probably means that some scripts are running rampart, guess it's always good to check the file size from time to time. Curious, has anyone here ever used a mod like: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64413/? There was another one in the past, but many people reported issues with it, corrupted saves, saves that could not be loaded etc. This one looks okay. Any opinions? I do wonder how exactly this one works though and how lightweight it is. -
Modding, bad scripts and the inevitability of bloating
varulv replied to varulv's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Nice! script-heavy mods are those with, well, heavy scripts that constantly run in the background making checks, injecting, cloak-type etc. right? Not those that activate only when certain conditions have been met. I assume the mods that belong to the first category are the ones causing the bloating, or scripts in general that don't clean up after themselves after they stop. Looking at my load order I have Ordinator for example, it has scripts with certain perks, but never had any issues with this mod alone, the creator looks like some script master, it's very light. But then there's something like Footsteps, frostfall and wet & cold or enhanced blood textures. I got rid of both W&C (also has some issues with the latest version of W&C) and EBT, oh, iNeed is also out, though I'm pretty sure that 'needs' mods are pretty lightweight in general. Hopefully having just Frostfall around won't be a problem, combined with Vivid Weathers, which happens to have some scripts to check for time (changes brightness) they can't be too bad. -
Modding, bad scripts and the inevitability of bloating
varulv posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Helloo! Hopefully this is the right section to talk about this.. Hello! So seeing how I'm relatively new to modding Skyrim, I wanted to educate myself a little bit, and what better place to ask than my favorite communities, of which I'm not an active participant, but hey, this doesn't deduct from their sheer awesomeness and the amazing people in it. Looking at you @TechAngel85. :3 Hopefully there are some creators that see this and know a thing or two about scripts and modding in general. So, bloating, what causes it? Rather, is it mainly bad scripts that don't clean after themselves properly, or those that run constantly in the background? I assume the only way to properly identify culprits and solve things is by using one of those saving game cleaner, like scalpel. Recently for example I installed all the Immersive Wenches mods, sheer hilarity and makes fights an AoE fest, spawn spamming enemies, but boy oh boy does it have scripts. Uses a bunch of scripts to summon the NPC's you fight it seems, but of course there's no way to tell if something is volatile just by looking at it, at least not without some knowledge. I have to say, no matter how many heavy scripts I DON'T use, the file size keeps getting bigger and bigger, but seems to stabilize a bit at certain points, so I guess file size increase can't be helped, and any save eventually becomes a big mess. I guess such is the engine of Skyrim? :( I wonder when problems start happening with a heavily modded Skyrim, some say when the save file reaches 20mb+(while others are fine at much bigger sizes *shrug*) others mention the .ess file and that this one plays a bigger role. Any kind of info regarding this is more than welcome!!! -
STEP guide for cognitively challenged individuals
varulv replied to kittytessapuppy's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hmmm, overall it was rather easy for me, but sometimes (maybe because English is not my native language?) I feel completely dumb. For instance: I have installed all of step core, patch fomod recognized everything and the core patch was also installed. However, I have also installed some mods from extended, so what do I need to do now? I thought that I needed the individual patches for said mods (which will result in extra .esp's, which is fine in my case) but then I see some mods that I don't have, others that I thought CORE patch covered, like AOS2 patches (realisticwater two, GDO -- which I recall reading it is redundant if I am installing WAF patch?) some mod that's not on STEP at all like Disease Descriptions.. then at the bottom I see the "Combined Plugins" and I'm like "Cool, I'll get those, then!" then I read that the only requirements for these plugins are SMIM, HF & Dragonborn, but then I see in these plugins patches for mods I haven't installed. Won't that cause problems? I decided to try them and see anyway, only to find that these STEP combined plugins are nowhere to be found for download. ... help me -.- lol, yeah, I really find the STEP Patches Requirements page confusing for some reason... -

CTD related to Enhanced Blood Textures
varulv replied to varulv's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you! However, I'm convinced that EBT is a huge problem for my game, crashes happen mostly during heavy fighting, and the log contains countless EBT errors and warnings, not saying that EBT is necessarily bad, just that having such a mod with a heavy script... does things to my game. I know the console commands to stop the scripts and uninstall the mod, I'm just too afraid that the STEP extended patch, which I believe contains the DB & DG patch and something for Improved Combat Sounds, will cause trouble if I do uninstall EBT. So if anyone does know how to remove any traces of EBT from said patch.. please let me know! :) -
Hello! First of all let me say that I've followed every step of.. STEP correctly, checked memory blocks log etc. etc. I am experiencing CTD's with STEP extended, and almost every single time, the last line in my papyrus log is: My character is a breton vampire, by the way, I assume it matters. I don't know what to do at this point or how to fix this, so what I plan on doing is to uninstall the mod (first using the option in MCM then proceed to disable) problem is -- the step patch has enhanced blood as its master, so I guess I'll have to remove some things using TES5Edit, at least I hope that it can be done with said tool. Could someone please, PLEASE give me a tip or two on what I need to tweak? I realize that this may not solve my problem, but I want to at least rule Enhanced Blood out. Bit of a shame, really like the mod.

SKYRIMLE Any thoughts on the SkyRealism mods?
varulv replied to jasonstory44's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Whatever. :p Nope, haven't tried any of his gameplay mods, but they do look pretty good. -

You think .119 is unstable in some way? Well, personally -- I haven't had any crashes with .119 & SkyRealism. -
DROPPED Project Reality - Climates Of Tamriel - Weather - Lighting by JJC71
varulv replied to EisDrache's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Ah, I see! Thank you. :) Will probably end up joining the Dawnguard then. Let's wait for Farlo to confirm, see what his experience was. A tiny question that just popped: Do you advice against the removal of mods in general ( during a playthrough - done with the qasmoke waiting method etc. ) Guess it depends on the mod, SkyRe for instance would break everything if it got removed, that stands for lighting/weather mods as well? -

So, it has absolutely nothing to do with Please, PM exactly what it does, I don't care about spoilers at this point, I just don't want my overall gameplay experience to get ruined with some bug stuck in my save. Also, would you be comfortable uninstalling CoT before that very moment? Then installing it again. Just an idea, hopefully uninstalling CoT in itself doesn't break more things than the so called Dawnguard bug. :D Also, I'll be beta testing the Dawnguard patch, that knowledge will probably help the creator, it's all for ze greater goot! Regards!
