Can anyone tell me why we are supposed to check "Automatic Archive Invalidation", why we are supposed to UNcheck it when running BethINI, and when we are supposed to REcheck it (before or after Applying the INI Tweaks)? I am trying to follow https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Kelmych/Fallout3_INIs It says "Note that in addition to re-entering the INI tweaks, Archive Invalidation needs to be re-enabled for each MO Profile." But it's not clear whether to do so at that point in the guide or to do it after re-entering the INI tweaks, or if it even matters. Thanks in advance to whoever is willing to waste their time explaining this to me....

In the posts section of the nexus page, there were a couple of mentions of conflicts with DC Interiors. One post suggested to either remove 2 of the guards from Reilly's Rangers mod, or remove Seward Square from the DC Interiors mod. I haven't yet downloaded the DC mod, but I thought I'd take a look at the Ranger mod. WOW. There are about 6 errors that xEdit initially complains about, before xEdit is even finished loading the mod. Those errors basically refer to 6 instances of guards that had been placed in Seward Square. When I went to the Seward Worldspace to investigate, xEdit threw all kinds of errors anytime I moved my mouse over the records of the guards in question. I don't know enough about NPC records to know WHY xEdit didn't like those guards, but I am curious. If anyone has a chance and takes a look at the mod, please let me know what was wrong with those guards! For now, I just removed them.

Installing DarNified UI
danielleonyett replied to danielleonyett's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
i had to use the alternate download, which came as a fomod. i did change it to 7z before installing. i think i got it installed fine. i'm at the part of the guide where i'm done installing UIO and have started up the game to test it. i see the little vault boy head at the bottom left of the screen, so that's supposed to mean that DUI is good, iirc thanks, Kelmych! -
I just want to make sure that I installed it properly. The instructions in the guide state the following: Installation: To install this mod with MO click [Manual], then [Okay] during the installation or the default installer will skip a very important file. Unfortunately, I don't get the option to install it manually. A window just pops up asking if I want to have my FALLOUT.INI modified for the fonts. I clicked "No" since I recall the guide saying that the ini values for the fonts will be handled by UIO. After I click "No", Mod Organizer then just installs the files. I have also unzipped the fomod file in a separate location, just to compare the files there to the ones that Mod Organizer unzipped. It appears that all of the same files are there. So my main question is regarding the installation instructions that I copied and pasted above. What exactly is the "very important file" that might accidentally be skipped? I'd just like to make sure that i have it!

INI Tweak Guide - Fallout INI
danielleonyett replied to danielleonyett's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
i wasn't referring to BethINI in this post, just referring to Kelmych's INI tweak guide and the edit page of said guide your value for fRenderedTerminalZoom is the same as mine = 36 I tried to do some research on the setting but didn't come up with much other than people who have ultra wide screens like to increase the value drastically (like 75 and 88). so i guess i'll just leave it as it is. it is probably hidden (left out) for a reason. thanks Greg! -
There is a section that looks a bit out of place, so I thought I'd try to clean it up by going to the editing page. Looking at the editing page, it seems that there are quite a few settings that are hidden. Most are settings for DarNified. There is a section above that says that none of them needed (due to UIO). There is also a [RenderedTerminal] setting that is hidden: fRenderedTerminalZoom=33 Is that also handled by UIO? Or hidden for some other reason? Or is it accidentally hidden and maybe I should actually include it? thanks in advance!

INI Tweak Guide - BethINI instructions
danielleonyett replied to danielleonyett's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
i ran the launcher the other day and selected Ultra. it only created the prefs ini for me in the My Games folder, so then i ran the launcher AND clicked "Play", but exited the game. Only then did the other ini file show up in the My Games folder. today i ran BethINI. i just now checked and can see that it did create ini files within the profile folder of Mod Organizer. and the screen resolution is correct. so i guess i'm good then. thanks! -
INI Tweak Guide - BethINI instructions
danielleonyett posted a question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
the instructions under the BethINI section state: "When the new INI files have been created the Fallout Launcher will run to complete the generation of the INI files. Make any changes needed, including ensuring that the screen resolution shown in the Launcher corresponds to the resolution used for monitor being used for the game. Exit the Fallout Launcher, which builds expanded versions of the INI files." the problem i have is that the Fallout Launcher does not automatically run when i save and close the BethINI program. should i run it myself then? if so, i assume that i should run it from the Fallout 3 goty folder and not Steam or Mod Organizer, right? -
GUIDE General Feedback
danielleonyett replied to Kelmych's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
reporting in I just tried downloading LOOT from the link in the guide and Norton AV removes it, says there's a problem. On the nexus LOOT comment page, pStyl3 says it's a bad call on Norton's part. The nexus file downloads just fine, though it's a later version than what's called for in the guide. I figure that's just a result of the guide not being updated every time a new version of something comes out. I'm assuming that standard procedure is to download the latest version of files unless otherwise stated in the guide. what are the guidelines regarding going in and editing the guide? With Neo's Skyrim Revisited guide, I would go in occasionally and make little corrections, with no complaints from Neo. Is this guide also open to that? I see some editing on the history of the page that is done by non-staff members, such as fixing small gramatical/typing errors and other such edits. Would it be acceptable for me to also make such changes? -
Games for Windows Live link
danielleonyett replied to danielleonyett's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
ok, i was misunderstanding the intent of that instruction in the guide, then. so, the way i understand it now is that ONLY windows 10 users should download the GFWL files because they might have problems otherwise. since I use Windows 7, then GFWL is not necessary for me, right? and therefore, the mod GFWL Disabler would also be unnecessary? edit: eh, nevermind. GamerPoet's video says "even Windows 10 users" (should get the GFWL files). thanks, folks! -
hi I've started following the guide and I've noticed that the link for "gfwliveetup.exe from Microsoft" does not work. GamerPoet's link (under his youtube video) works. So should I just use that one? I am running Windows 7 and have Fallout 3 goty from Steam. thank you

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

haha! my husband got skyrim with our xbox 360 three years ago for x-mas. I watched him play for a few months and then couldn't stand it anymore. for the next month I played more hours than I have played to-date. but I was frustrated about things that I wanted to change so I started looking into it and found out about modding. funny how it started out as "if I could only do A, B, and C then I would be happy." haven't really played the game since.... we even got me a new 'puter just so I could mod (well, my husband says it was so I could actually play the game, but I disagree) -

you could always donate some moola to him on the nexus, too! I don't actually use his dual sheath or coin mods (please nobody skewer me for this :P ) but I donated a bit to him anyway for this guide :) -

ah. yeah that makes sense. I just hadn't looked into it and didn't know if the conflict resolution esp changed anything from the coin replacer esp, like, back to vanilla or something. -

by the picture posted, it looks like another esp (skyrim coin replace redux) also has those records. probably means that it makes changes to those records as well, though I can't see any in the picture. but if you were to scroll down then there might be some changes from the coin replacer mod. if that's the case and those are the only records that caco shares with the conflict resolution esp, then I would think it would just be a matter of removing caco as a master, no? someone please tell me if I'm wrong! edit: well, I think I should've said "it would just be a matter of removing caco's changes within the records and THEN removing caco as a master," right? -

one of the features that I really like about iNeed is that it sets ownership to a lot of items that didn't previously have ownership. does anyone know if Last Seed will have that? -

on one hand I thought that the folder name shouldn't be a big deal, but on the other hand I thought maybe if it was default installing into Program Files and not Program Files (x86) (as Neo's instructions indicate), then maybe it wasn't installing properly or maybe I wasn't getting the right stuff. anyway, I haven't tested it out yet, but I'm thinking that there is a slight possibility that maybe perhaps I shouldn't actually type "<Full Skyrim Path>" and instead replace that with some other stuff, like, the full skyrim path, could be. I'm so embarassed -
