Thanks guys.

Would you recommend removing those bsas since they are pure textures and not needed anymore because overwritten by optimized? Would it decrease load time if I was to delete it or move it to another folder? (out of Skyrim) Also, is there any reason why we switch the constraints on DDSopt back to 8092x8092? Is it just so we don't get confused when processing the next batch of textures or am I missing something? After processing both textures and normals, do the following: Select "8092x8092" in the available drop downs for "Resolution Limit". Close DDSOpt. Right-click the Mod Organizer mod list and select "Refresh". Drag the newly created mod Optimized directly below the original mod and activate it.

I'm sure the answer to this question is easy but I just want to verify. When we extract and optimize all dds files from the vanilla textures, dawnguard, dragonborn bsa etc; what do we do about the other files like music and meshes? I was under the impression that we could completely remove the bsa file after extracting and optimizing the textures but we would miss out on all the music, meshes and other files. Do we just leave the bsa alone and let the optimized textures folder overwrite the bsa textures while the game still load these meshe/ music files from the bsa? Thanks in advance.

No idea but if I were you I'd just wait for the Legendary Edition of SR.

resolution of textures in SR:LE
Luisangre replied to hellanios's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
@torminater Do you think 2k by 1k textures would work on everything? This will be my goal. -
installing based on skyrim revisited but using wrye

I love Wrye Bash but can not recommend MO enough. MO takes all thee great programs and makes them all synergize and work together. -

@jorg Endless loading screen ctd/ random ctd and ctd due to DSI can be a sign that you're reaching the 3.1 memory limit. Do you have mostly all 2k textures and are they optimized? Any 4k textures? -
resolution of textures in SR:LE

Think I may just go all 1k textures when SR comes out. The simplicity of having all textures at a consistent resolution/ knowing that you will be well below the memory crash limit all the time is a good positive. Or 1k textures for all and 2k textures for weapons/ armor/ npc. -
Yea, if it was confirmed that there won't be TOO many changes then I would go ahead and install current SR just to save me some time on LE update because I too am crazy to mod/ play already :]Another thing I'm excited about but kinda sucked when I found out was that Skyrim will have no more dlc and this means that these mods have a very low chance of being broken/ having to be updated in the future.

Good points all around. I curiously wait for what Neo has for us :]

@Iroha That's exactly what I'm thinking of doing. Do you have a top notch rig?

Any rule of thumb for SMIM? Is half texture install the way to go?

What do you guys think about this? Greatly streamlining the process of installing SR by uploading all the custom patches somewhere with a brief description so that SR users can conveniently download? Pros; Cuts down installation time by about 40% or more. Greatly decreases chances of making an error on patch/ messing up a file (it can happen to anyone...late night modding back to back repetitiveness endless click click check check). Cleaner SR installation interface (patches can have their own section/ links). Makes the process more enjoyable overall...download, install, BUM. Cons; Someone new to TES5Edit patching may miss a few things but this is completely optional. I understand you can learn a lot by making a few patches but for those of us who have done it "oh so much" this should be interesting. We can upload patches for SkyRe and other overhauls as well...let's take this to the next level. It would take no more than 3-4 people to comfortably upkeep these patches (4 heads revising patches, can't go wrong) I will happily volunteer.

This way I have a little extra headroom and my game is more consistent/ balanced out texture wise. There is a big difference in quality 1k vs 2k and I'd rather have it all smoothed out. Also, I'm using every mod in SR + SkyRe and Dragon Combat Overhaul. I want no ctd's from reaching the 3.0 ram limit at all. I know it's safe to remove the High Rez DLC esp's when we extract all the files from bsa and optimize but is it safe to remove the 3 bsa's as well? Would this save us load time? I keep all this stuff in a backup folder.

Yea, I meant I'd hate going 1k exteriors and 2k interiors because I'd rather have them both either 1k or 2k. :]
-
@phazer11 I'm running a 680 classy 4gb vram. Thinking of going 1k for all textures except unique stuff like armors/ weapons/ horses/ npc's etc etc. How does this sound? Hate the thought of 1k exteriors and 2k interiors lol.

What is the general rule of thumb for mod texture resolutions? I'm currently downloading the 1k versions of SRO, Skyrim HD, Serious HD in preparation of SR 2.0. Thought I could run everything at 2k textures but ctd and infinite loading screens are everywhere.
