  1. I have a suggestion for the SR format. What do you guys think about leaving all the compatibility patching AFTER everything is already downloaded and installed properly? This would make the guide look a lot cleaner and streamlined. Download all mods, configure as needed, install. The area at the bottom can be a small introduction to TES5EDIT/ BUM with all the required patches following and descriptions. This area can also be used for links to compatibility patches that SR users can download for convenience. Something like; Mod name (link to mod) Author Version RR (Recommended Resolution) DDSopt Settings Optionals A * or little subtle sign can be added to the mod showing that it needs patching and we can even add in something else to show that the mod uses scripts. Alternatively, DDSopt settings can be left out and can be introduced at the bottom of the guide with a brief intro to DDSopt.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. Aiyen, I feared it was something like this :[ I've been doing some testing and it seems that when Skyrim's memory usage hits 3 gb the game becomes super unstable and I can count on a ctd within 5 minutes. With Neo confirming that the next version of SR will have recommended resolution sizes and ddsopt settings it looks like the best thing to do at the moment is just test things out and give feedback instead of trying to make the game into a playable state (over 900 hours logged on Skyrim and about 10% of that was actually playing the game lol). I think SR will reach a new pinnacle of godliness and stability with the addition of recommended resolutions and ddsopt settings. Thank you.
  3. Phazer11, I understand what you're saying but there must be a way to stably run 2k textures....I have a very high end rig and can't imagine going back to 1k textures (this is what I used with my old 5870 amd 1gb gpu). Aiyen, Is there a guide to using this program on site? And is there anyone here at all that uses 2k textures? Hopefully next SR adds recommended resolution for mods.
  4. Incoming noob question; After optimizing all vanilla bsa's (the 3 high rez texture packs, 3 dlc and normal textures bsa) are we free to delete the bsa? I think I've done something like this in a very old version of STEP but wouldn't that delete a ton of meshes and other files that weren't extracted from the bsa? Thanks in advance...sorry for all the q's...been modding this forever and wanna actually play asap ><
  5. Wow....using ddsopt on single texture by texture...I don't think I have the patience to do that O_o Judging by Phazer11's post I figured 2k x 2k resolution constraints would be good enough...hope so.
  6. Thank you, xiamthewalrusx. Would you recommend keeping the ddsopt resolution limit constraint to 2k x 2k or should I knock it down to 2k x 1k?
  7. Damn...and here I thought with my gtx 680 classy I could pretty much run everything 4k O_o I am optimizing all of my texture mods at the moment and left the 2 constraints at 2048x2048....is this optimal or should i switch both to 2048x1024? Also, all this does is bring the textures down to 2048 right? Think I've heard somewhere before that it actually splits the resolution of the texture. Thanks in advance. All I basically did was use these settings; https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt_%26_Texture_Overhauls#tab=Using_DDSopt But instead changed the resolution limits to 2048 x 2048
  8. Just curious to see how much memory Skyrim uses for you guys. I'm using SR + SkyRe and with no textures optimized I'm hitting around 3.5 million KB I'm about to optimize all textures using the 2k x 2k constraint on ddsopt and hope this fixes my random ctd and loading screen ctds. Also, is it worth running ddsopt on the vanilla and high res texture pack files as well?
  9. I have the same question as Ciccigomma, do we just simply remove the old unofficial skyrim patch hearthfire and install the new one or is there a more "specific" procedure? Thanks in advance.
  10. So after a full install of SR and following the SkyRe+SR guide I am wondering if I should have just waited for the SR Legendary Edition or of it's better to just update my current SR with the new one when it gets released. Also thinking about going with Skyrim Unleashed instead of SkyRe.
  11. Has anyone here gotten the infinite load screen/ crash bug? It stays on the load screen forever until you alt+tab and then it shows a skyrim has crashed message.
  12. Word...is this Legendary Edition SR going to be able to be installed with the current (additions/ updates) to some mods or would this be a case for a complete reinstall of SR?
  13. statmonster, SR - LE = Skyrim Revisited - Limited Edition? O_o?
  14. I would like to know the answer to the difference between SR and STEP's texture extraction. As for only the .dss files being selected, those are texture files and the only files that DDSopt can actually optimized.
  15. Awesome guide. There's a bug with the all in 1 reproccer patches installer where the postasispatch.esp does not install even when the box is checked.
  16. Yea, I meant Skyrim Revisited and ERSO. Sorry for the confusion, was sleep deprived due to so much modding @_@
  17. Anyone here use these 2 mods? Thinking about making a guide to integrating ERSO to SR.
  18. Thought you were referring to my post 112 lol :]
  19. Mod Organizer with all the programs that SR recommends.
  20. Hey guys, I'm at the Realistic Needs and Diseases part of the guide and making a patch for a few mods. This line loses me though; -Repeat this for the "0003133B","0003133C","00034C5D","000508CA","00085368","000C5348","000C5349","000F693F","080053E5", and "080053EC" nodes. The last 2 nodes, 080053E5 and 080053EC seem to already have no conflicts and every time I drag the values I get a green background with gray text. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.
  21. Is everything we need to know in the first post? Just got done installing SR and wanna get this out the way asap.
  22. Will do, Luinithil. Forgot that BoS was updated and now includes a bunch of stuff.
  23. Good reasons, root3. By the way, is anyone else getting "redundant" in MO for amidianborn glass armor and amidianborn tsun armor? These mods get completely overwritten by book of silence. I'm gonna give it a shot with SkyRe, hope it's not too tedious as I'm almost done installing SR.
  24. Over 600 hours in Skyrim and 95% of this was testing textures and bugs :] Anyone here use Skyrim Unleashed? https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25869/? I think it is a great alternative to SkyRe as SkyRe's scripts and general favor of new weapons and their perks sometimes seems unbalanced and cluttered. Requiem is great too but the main author may not be coming back and because of this it may never get Dragonborn support.
  25. Good news. Book of Silence was updated and the skyforgeweapons.esp was redone so it plays friendly with all mods it previously conflicted with (I checked). This allows us to skip all TES5EDIT stuff when messing with this esp and reduces our patches by 1, good games.
