Great thanks. I think my load order is actually fine after looking at it...LOOT sorted it out and my rules doing work for things In eeded in a ceratain way. Now my problem is determing which mods are the most FPS hit and removing those (not from STEP but from the mods I added) Getting still 45-60 FPS but it's feeling bogged down...

ENBoost/Skyrim INIs recommended STEP settings wrong?
NewYears1978 replied to blattgeist's question in Post-Processing Support
Yah..frustrating too to have a beast rig and not be able to get the smooth 60..but hey compared to when the game was first released..it's a gem now...I remember drops to 5 fps back then ;) I just wish 30-45 FPS felt smooth for me..have sensitive eyes or something.. -
Anyone know where the LOOT META rules are stored when you create them? I wanted to redo my load order by clearing it, but saving the LOOT rules that I had already created for some mods.

I only have 60hz monitor and run with Vsync on..I can't play games without Vsync as it feels really unsmooth. I get 60 FPS most of the time..with no issues or stutter..it's only a few spots in the game where I get the issues..or heavy weather : -

Actually, It did it again even with SkyrimHD off... so not sure what is going on. Edit:// I did reinstall SKSE awhile back and I notice I missed the ini step. Added, testing. Adding the ini allowed it to load again, let me put SkyimHD back and I will know for sure! Edit 2:// That did it, loads with SkyrimHD and SDO installed..no issues now..so the whole problem was about 50% through my initial STEP install I started over because I wanted to organize some stuff and had messed up..when I redid SKSE I had forgotten to remake the ini. SMH. Thanks for helping me troubleshoot !!! Now too bad I don't have 30-40 FPS drops at Whiterun and Markarth etc..haha. My problem is on my rig, or my eyes, when I have 50 fps or lower..it feels really choppy to me instead of just a playable lower FPS. -

Well I installed Stable uGrids, and did the Bash Patch..but I still Crash (infinite loading) when I have SDO installed. Even start a new game..I am fine until I exit the cave then infinite loading.. Further testing, disabling the 3 optional ESP files it still doesn't load so the problem is not in those. I think I figured it out, when I load Skyrim HD textures AND SDO..I crash..that's not a STEP mod I added that in AFTER I had finished with STEP but I put it up with my STEP mods..so..something conflicting there?????? -

Yeah, even with CoT and ELE and ELFX which is what I use now, days are just not right. Indoors and Dungeons EXEPTIONAL but outdoors just has this overcontrast yet drab look. ENB's bloom (which normally I hate bloom) really tends to just soften it all and make it look proper! I am using Skyrealism ENB which I just found, and my old 1.2 FXAA injector (I prefer it due to how it sharpens) and it is bliss for me :) -

Yah I didn't know that til today when I was told here. It may have been what caused my game to act up too. I mean it's running fine without SDO right now..I might have to NOT use SDO anyways due to FPS loss...since I have 200+ mods and I use ENB as well. I mostly get 60 FPS though on my rig even as such..except during weather or in rough spots (Markarth, Whiterun top, etc) I am OCD and sensitive eyes though so trying to tweak for best visual experience AND best performance :) -

Gotcha, thanks for the tips, I am going to try that tonight and also Stable uGrids. Will recheck my Load order too since I used that goofy FIX button in MO. Thanks for the help! -

Ahh I didn't know that! I will install it thanks for the tip. I never understood Bash either and never saw in STEP where I needed to run it, maybe I overlooked it, I will check into that also! I guess I thought WB was an installer similar to NMM or MO and that I didn't need it as well. The guides that I read don't talk about using WB with MO...is there a specific place to read how to use it with MO? (Edit: I see the detailed portion regarding MO and WB now, I will try this tonight) I don't see anywhere how to actually use it. I see the WB guide but I don't know which portions I should be running for my MO Step install. Is it just the bashed patch portion that I am wanting to run? -

I use Mod Organizer, LOOT, TES5EDIT. I have not used DDsopt but I use Ordenador (or will when I get done installing all my mods) I use SKSE (with Mem boost in it) and ENBoost (actually I use a full ENB now..but before last night was using only ENBoost) I don't use Stable uGrids because I don't edit my uGrids at all, and I haven't ever used Wyre Bash (have to read up on Bash tags, no c lue what they are or do) The infinite loading screens I tended to have when installing and removing mods which I heard was normal..but with SDO..it happened and I couldn't solve it with new game or anything...would get infinite loading (Skyrim stopped responding) any time I loaded a game with SDO checked in MO. I don't have issues right now just playing the game...when not messing with mods. If I just play the game it tends to run fine, no issues. The loading happened after I finished all of STEP..was moving on to my own mods (Climates, ELFX etc) and at some point it wouldn't load saves anymore or certain areas (even from a new game)..I disabled all my mods and added them in sections of 5 at a time til I narrowed it down to SDO..and it was SDO...definitely..check SDO, infinite loading, uncheck, loads fine. I think tonight after work I might reset my LOOT rules and my load order and let it default back to normal then re go through ust the detailed portions of STEP to set Load rules and make sure that MO's FIX thing didn't mess my order up..I know one thing out of order can cause crashes. -
LOOT + MO - Two Questions (Load Order / LOOT Version)
NewYears1978 replied to NewYears1978's question in Other Utilities Support
I think I used the fix button early in my install of STEP..wonder if that's what made SDO start crashing..could have been. I wasn't using it but then noticed the errors so I clicked it..don't know that it moved SDO anyways but it does move CCO like you mentioned..I guess I need to go back and double check my load order..doh. Wish I could "undo" what the fix button did..going to have to go through all the mods with detailed instructions and meta rules one by one and see whcih ones are off. Check Al for update, I will try that...all my mods I downloaded via MO and they have meta so was confused why Info didnt work..will try update all. Thanks. -

Yeah I used the guide just recently so I didn't install any of the swamp options. But for some reason even still I started getting infinite load screens when I would leave an interior cell. Or just go to specific locations like BleakFalls..no clue why. It worked fine..then just stopped without any mod changes. Removing the mod was the only fix..even a new game didn't fix it...so not sure what happened. ASUS Maximus VII Hero Z97 Mobo i7 4790k GTX 780 Corsair Vengeance 8gb DD3 2x Samsung 840 250Gb SSDWindows 7 64 Bit So my rig is decent too. Had to do the same. I really like it but couldn't figure out why it was causing CTD. -
ENBoost/Skyrim INIs recommended STEP settings wrong?
NewYears1978 replied to blattgeist's question in Post-Processing Support
Found lots of helpful info in here. Appreciated. I had a question, I wanted to limit my FPS just to smooth out the framedrops in some areas..but if I set ANY fps limit below 60..I get this very odd bounce/stutter..like the game is pausing every other second..hard to explain? Any idea what that might be caused by? For reference I run 200+ mods (including STEP and other mods) and also Skyrealism ENB and I still get about 60 FPS in MOST cases..obviously not Whiterun, Markarth, etc..or when heavy weather effects I may dip to 50-55 (Markarth I drop to 30-40 in that spot we all know) i7 4790k GTX 780 Windows 7 64 Bit 8Gb Corsair Vengeance 2x Samsung SSD 840 250Gb So just curious if I have another setting wrong not letting me use the limiter properly. -

Definitely frustrating. I have 300 hours in Skyrim and I have probably only 40 hours of ACTUAL gameplay. No joke. I've gone on these modding rampages before usually ending up in endless loading screens, crashes, etc..then I quit. But I can't play this game vanilla, it's just too beautiful and amazing with all the mods. All the new memory patch stuff has seemed to solve the CTD's...WHEN using mods that don't conflict and break each other. STEP guide helps for that, but even then there are problems. SDO I crash when I use it so I had to remove that..no clue why..it gave me infinite loading screens. But yeah, I am with you..it's frustrating. I have all of STEP installed, the patches, and then a myriad of my own mods now..by using GEMS and my friends installed mod list. I am near the bottom of his list which is my last step before I actually begin to play...lol. Not noticing and crashes or issues so far so that's good but you never know once you get in a real gameplay adventure =D I then got sidetracked by ENB which I normally don't use..but I want everything perfect (which in Skyrim is very hard lol). My nights and indoors were perfect..but day times were a bit..funky...always were to me in Skyrim..using ENB with bloom tends to make the days look proper...like properly lit like I like..so then messing with enb settings to get that bloom only during days, not indoors or night, and getting all the settings right without huge FPS drops..been a chore aha. Okay I ranted on too long =D -

Anyone else have crash issues with this mod? I installed all of STEP, no other mods..it was working then randomly it just stopped. When I would either COC into certain locations outdoors it would lock up OR try to load saves in those locations and it would lock up. Thought it must have been some conflict or other mod but never could sort it. I enabled one mod at a time (very time consuming) and it never crashed except when SDO was installed. Unchecked SDO and have played flawlessly since. And ideas? -

I should clarifiy, I wasn't intending to berate you or anyone who wrote the instructions. I have tried to make my own PERSONAL mod list Excel file once and it was so much work I quit. I have much respect for the makers of this guide..I just got confused here because something didn't behave how it said it would. Once I understood it though, it made perfect sense. :) I finished STEP but later had to remove the Skyrim Overhaul mod though because it was crashing my game (without any mods not in STEP)..I need to make a topic on that. -

Unclear Instructions and STEP:Extended???
NewYears1978 replied to NewYears1978's question in General Skyrim LE Support
That's exactly what I've done. Made a copy as a back up and a new one to start adding new stuff. I was putting mods in the categories as well...but was worried it might conflict. Others have said to put them at the bottom of the list but before the patches. Doesn't matter much I guess as long as I put them where I want with overwriting files (by my preference) and run BOSS/LOOT. -
LOOT + MO - Two Questions (Load Order / LOOT Version)
NewYears1978 posted a question in Other Utilities Support
Hoping for a little clarification here. I just started using LOOT on this run of modding and I like it quite a bit. My issue is with LOOT and MO. First, in MO the SORT button uses an old version of LOOT, making it not worth using, is it possible to "update" it to use the proper LOOT version? Or should it not just be removed since we can have our own LOOT button in the toolbar anyways? Second, When I use LOOT, sometimes MO tells me via warnings at the top that some things need load order changing. Should I use that function to "Fix" those load orders or leave it to LOOT to do that. Why are they different? Thanks in advance. Edit:// One thing I forgot, why does the Endorse button in MO not work? None of mine show as being endorsed..but yet when I click the Non Endorsed filter no mods show..has this been removed due to all those complaints about the button? -
Unclear Instructions and STEP:Extended???
NewYears1978 replied to NewYears1978's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I actually finally figured it out right after I posted. Just got so frustrated but once I started comparing the Extended guide mods..I notice dthey ewre the ones not in green. What was confusing is nowhere did it tell me that the non green ones were extended. Now I have to go back and fix some things that were specific to using extended..but shouldn't be too bad :) Thanks. Was using the wrong patch as well, had core, I need CombinedHF instead. Woo. Now my next dilemna is, installing mods not in STEP...where ot put them in the order, etc..going to be confusing. (And just because I don't want my posts to come off wrong, I love STEP and am only frustrated when I can't understand things which is because I have been working on STEP for nearly 5 days now when I have free time..and am in the READY to play the game mode now..but still have mods to sort out..lol) -
Unclear Instructions and STEP:Extended???
NewYears1978 posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I apologize again for another "dumb" topic. I find that STEP is very hard to follow and confusing because of lack of information, directory and misinformation in parts. My specific problem this time is that I hvae finished (finally..witth some trouble) installing STEP:CORE, and I kept reading about this STEP:EXTENDED. But when I click on STEP:Extended it takes me here: https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:STEP:Extended This is nothing more than a small portion of the already installed CORE mods...so..what am I missing. This happens a ton where a link takes me to some old info or old page and it gets REALLY confusing. This is exactly why I have never fully used STEP in the past, nor any of my Skyrim playing friends. Upon Further looking, is it that the GREEN labled ones are part of CORE and the others listed in the original guide are the "Extended" mods. I installed ALL of them at once, is that proper? And if that is true does this mean I should use the EXTENDED Patch ONLY and not the CORE Patch? -

NewYears1978 replied to NewYears1978's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I finally understood what it was saying. The problem (IMO) is the instructions are poorly written. I finalyl figured out that when you Edit them it makes a backup of them. STEP wants you to create a NEW mod with the cleaned file. So you make a new directory in your Mods directory with the appropriate name (update.esm cleaned, for instance) then you put the Cleaned file (in your data directory) into that folder. Then you take either a copy of the original file that you made OR the TES5EDIT created backup and put it back in the Data directory. In other words you keep the Data directory for steam/skyrim with the DEFAULT non edited files (in case you ever need to go back etc) and you make a NEW MOD in MO with the cleaned ones. Still lost in many othe rplaces with this guide..sometimes it's cleal others it is jacked up. Like telling yo uto create a LOOT rule for mods you have not installed yet (you can't) Yes, in MO you use Profiles, which each profile has it's own Ini files. If you look in the MO folder you'll see a profiles directory. However within MO is a button (the wrenches) at th etop click that and choose "edit ini" and you can edit both ini files right in MO. These are separate from your Documents files. MO keeps all files from your actual Skyrim install, incleading steam and documents files, separate. The great thing is say you just finished instally STEP:Core afte rdays of work (like me). Now you can go into the profiles editor, make a copy of it named "STEP: Core - Backup" or something. Then change things in the profile fo rtesting. If you mess something up you have the backup. Very nice. The part that confused me is that when I cleaned Update.esm, no files were put in overwrite like it says they will. I don't know why..but with that file, they never were. Once I did the next files cleaning it DID put them in the overwrite..so then I figured out what I was supposed to do with each. Maybe some error just on my end or something..but eventually sorted it out. Not really STEP's fault here. -
STEP extended, when to install Falskaar and Wyrmstooth?
NewYears1978 replied to DapperDan's question in General Skyrim LE Support
The more I try to follow STEP guides the more confused I get. That's why all my friends do not use it. I just finished STEP:CORE, (took a bit because there are issues and bugs in there that I should have written down) and now trying to move on "STEP: EXTENDED" but I cannot find a proper guide for that..the guide that pulls up for me looks like an old, unfinished one..that only has like 5% of the mods already installed with CORE. Where's the actualy EXTENDED guide? On the page I find this: https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:STEP:Extended And that can't be right. I need to post this in my own thread, sorry didn't mean to hijack yours. Ignore me. -

Furthermore when I cleaned the Dawnguard.esm, it put the backup file in my overwrite folder.. Really confused what is going on here? Actually, it says it will do this in the guide... and I should move it then create a mod with the fixed file. But the update.esm did no such thing (nothing in overwrite), So a bit confused :)
