I am glad to see this mod get recognition and suggested as a part of STEP, deservedly so... In my initial post, the only reason I said that "I don't think this fits into STEP" is because it doesn't fix anything and simply adds extra music content. I have played with this everyday since release, and pretty amazed at how well it fits into Skyrim. The tracks are of extreme quality and well executed. Before adding this mod, I use to hurry to get to next quest or location I was going but now I find myself slowing down and exploring more just so I can listen to the music added from this mod. It definitely has my vote for inclusion, and will be in my modlist every playthrough from here on out whether it is in STEP or not. For testing purposes, however, perhaps we need someone who is more of an expert on the TES lore than myself since I have only played Skyrim and Oblivion. Thanks for moving this post rootsrat, anxious to see what others think of this compilation.

Hey everyone, I, like most others here, have played Skyrim for hundreds of hours. After so much time the vanilla music has become somewhat old and boring to me. This new mod, JDR Soundtrack Compilation https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/39012/? is really good if your wanting some extra Skyrim music. This is a standalone mod, so it doesn't replace any of the vanilla music. It adds 8 tracks total - 6 for exploring and 2 for towns. All the tracks fit in amazingly into Skyrim. So, if you want to add a few new (and great) tracks to your Skyrim adventures this compilation is for you. I don't think this fits into STEP, which is why I posted it here in general Skyrim thread. However, I know I will be using this compilation in addition to each STEP install from here on out - it really is well done.

Here are some comparisons of vanilla/current step/HQ Paper HQ Paper does not have an esp, it is just textures/meshes. Vanilla ------------ HQ Skyrim Map (current STEP) ----------- HQ Paper map Vanilla ---------- Realistic Paper Dark (current STEP) ---------- HQ Paper book

After doing some in-game comparisons between current STEP (Realistic Paper dark and HQ Skyrim Map) and HQ Paper this is definitely worth a review. Personally, I liked HQ Paper better than Realistic Paper for the books, but preferred HQ Skyrim Map over HQ Paper. I will get some comparison shots posted in next day or two unless someone else does before me.

Thank you very much Kelmych for that thorough explanation, it certainly clears up any doubts and confusion I had.

I am optimizing the larger landscape mods included in STEP, and the part that I am unsure about is what constraints to use for normal maps. I am going to use the "Standard Quality" constraint found in the DDSOpt guide for both textures and normals, but unsure if I should do the normals with the compressed or uncompressed setting found in the DDSOpt guide. Since you installed some things manually, I would do a complete uninstall/reinstall of Skyrim to ensure you have a completely clean installation. When I used to use NMM, the STEP guide reverting Skyrim to a Pristine (Vanilla) installation works but in your case might as well start completely from scratch. After uninstalling, double check that everything got removed (Skyrim folder is completely empty or not present anymore, also delete folder where saves are stored - documents>my games>Skyrim) Now you're ready for a fresh start and reinstallation. Mod Organizer does allow you to use "download with manager" for mods on Nexus that have this option. I think you will be extremely impressed with MO and everything it can do, I know I was (and still am). Be sure to read the documentation both on Nexus and here in STEP for Mod Organizer and Wrye Bash if you are unfamiliar with these utilities. There is a little bit of reading and learning incorporated with using MO and WB, but in the long run it's well worth it because of what these tools can do. Personally, I use MO to install and sort load order and just use Wrye Bash to create Bashed Patches. I can relate to a comment you made in OP. A little over a year ago I also felt "in over my head" trying to mod my game for the first time. The STEP guide and forums was the biggest help in teaching me how to mod the right way - very helpful and knowledgeable people here if you have any questions. Out of curiosity what are your system specs? You mentioned ENB - adding it to your game will effect performance quite a bit.

Is there a way to save the settings? Using the recommended setting from 1st post here, and having to reset them each time the program is closed & reopened is a minor inconvenience.

(solved) Playermarker and Questmarker gone
gwoody79 replied to Cyrusx's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If you installed Colored Map Markers that is in current STEP, try removing and see if problem is solved. There are udated versions compatable with current Skyrim version like EzEs -Colored Map Markers https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26556 -
Which files should we move from meshes/landscape/mountains to the rocks folder to correct this? I assume its all the ones that begin with "rock" that are in the mountains folder but want to make sure before moving stuff around, perhaps this question should be posted in the TPC thread since it has to do with that mod but it was brought up here which is why I asked...

Thanks for your help guys, that worked. Saved me from probably breaking my computer by doing stuff in the registry or reformatting. And ty Ethatron for this great utility.

When trying the most recent versions of DDSopt a System Error message pops up "The program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" This happens on the pre4 and pre5 versions, but DDSopt v0.8.0 (preview III) works fine and this error message doesn't appear. I use a shared computer, so unsure if something was deleted to get this error message. Searching online, most recommendations were to use a registry cleaner but I am having hard time finding a good/free one to use. Any advice would be really helpful and appreciated, kinda stuck and unsure what step to take to fix this problem.

https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23870 This nice lil mod does what title says, changes grayish color of the rocks and mountains into a more brownish color. There are different resolutions to choose from, also your choice of loose files or bsa version. Rocks and Mountains are so abundant in Skyrim and to me they look better with the more brownish color offered by this mod. It does overwrite three files in the current TPC, so perhaps Cestral can voice his opinion on this mod also.

Can anyone enlighten me on a setting in the ENB ini: "Fix Game Bugs" - some enb presets have this set to true, others false. I am trying to find what this actually does and have looked at ENB documentation, the ENB user guide by Tapioks in the Enhanced Shaders FX-ENB mod, and lots of comments pages with no luck. If someone can shed some light on this, or point me to right guide/site to find the answer it would be much appreciated.

In STEP 2.2 it doesn't mention the optional Mesh Pack in the notes of Thats Ice installation. I'm confused as to whether it is recommended to use the Mesh Pack or not because it was part of STEP 2.1 and no mention in notes section or any part of the Removed/Replaced mods section of 2.2 guide
