Is there a way to limit the number of threads that DDSopt uses?

With Ordenador (Optimizer Textures) it gives me an option to limit the number of CPU threads used.

I need to be able to do this both for responsiveness, and for overheating purposes. DDSopt is one of the few programs I run that actually utilizes all of my 8 cores, and my cooler is slowly dying. I keep crashing every time I run it :/

There isn't any way for DDSopt itself to regulate core use. There are some general purpose tools for doing this. I think there was a discussion about this on STEP a while ago that mentioned a way to reduce DDSopt core use.

Could you just change windows Power Options in the control panel temporarily to limit it?  I know when I set mine powersaver for doing a download overnight (don't need the CPU) and forget to change, I'll be heavily limited in CPU heavy applications, like say Heroes of the Storm.
