Main Menu won't appear - 2nd time reinstalling from scratch >_<

Question

Posted (edited)

Hows it going forum? To start out with, i am not a forum person and dont know where things should be posted or know how to do certain things, so excuse me if my post is messy, sorry in advance! >_<

So, a week ago I installed STEP 2.2.9 extended, and I had an issue where the main menu wont load, all I see is a non-spinning emblem. I tried looking at other posts similiar to mine but I cant see/find the issue, I found one post where someone mentioned that it was Bring Out Your Dead mod, and said for me to disable it, which led to missing masters everywhere...(Step extended patch, Step requiem patch, Step REGS patch (I think) and Skyrim consistant older People.)

So I decided to put my skyrim CD again and go for a clean install starting from scratch. I followed, re-read everything as carefully as I could to make sure I wont miss out any information. after 2 days I have finnaly re-did my skyrim, just to find out that I got the same exact result... This fusturates me beyond belief. I hope you guys can help me find this issue, I have no idea how no one else is having my issue ::(: .

(I cant find the spoiler tag anywhere, sorry for the clutter im about to send below, once I find out how to use spoiler I will re-edit this post for less clutter, im sorry about this >< )

Not sure if you guys need my logs from loot or not, having a hard time finding it. :huh:

Again, I'm sorry for the mess.

Edit1: added spoilers, thanks Xaviien ^_^

Edit2: Solved :D! For those of you who are having the same issue as me, try disabling Requiem - Wyrmtooth from patch central as this is what led me to this bug.

You had the Requiem - Wyrmtooth.esp after both any Requiem and Wymtooth ESPs? It should be placed right after Requiem.esp.

Yup, its placed under requiem.esp, no requiem patches are loaded before requiem, wierd, right?

I apologise, that's my mistake. I failed epically in my google-fu when trying to find that. That will teach me for trying to help with things I know nothing about.

No need for apologies, you were right! I was the one that failed on reading, I assumed it was from STEP since it was under step packs, but according to TechAngel85,

Thanks for tellng me! I assumed it was part of an optional modpacks since I got the link from the 2.2.9 guide. English really isn't my strong points, so even though I try to read everything, I must've read past that somehow. ><

Since I posted this in the wrong section you guys may close this thread, my menu bug is now fixed thanks to everyone, and any further questions about requiem ill take it to their support forums. You guys have been a great help to me and I wouldn't have found out how to fix it without you guys. Have a great weekend ^.^

I can't really help with your main issue, but spoilers are posted as follows:
Text goes here.
Usual troubleshooting is, Does Vanilla Skyrim run fine?

To assist anyone else that may actually be able to help, can you also post your inis, from the MO Profile you're trying to use, in spoiler tags?

Requiem or REGS?

The REGS thread is: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/4152-a-real-explorers-guide-to-skyrim/

you may get more assistance there, either by reading the thread or posting your issue there.

If the problem is Requiem, you may need to post on the Nexus, as Requiem doesn't appear to be affiliated with STEP.

Have you followed the guides to the letter? I would suggest removing mods until you have just STEP, or load up the STEP Extended profile you should have created before moving on, and try to narrow down exactly which mod/pack is causing the problem.

Having the main menu not appear means one of your esp files is not having the correct values for a certain record (or more).

Basically, I'd bet my money on the fact that you have a patch that's not being used with the correct versions of the mod it's meant for.

The easiest way to troubleshoot it is to disable ESP plugins gradually until the main menu appears. I'd recommend disabling the 5 last plugins, then the 5 after that and so on until you've found the offending plugin.

Then you'll know what causes the issue and we'll be able to help you further.

 https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Requiem Im not sure if its affiliated with step or not, but at the end of the STEP guide I clicked on step packs and followed my way through requiem, which supplied me with a step requiem patch, so is it not reccomended for step or something? Sorry for the dumb questions, im not very smart with skyrim or mods yet :(

Well, you were right about it being a patch, disabling the Reqiuem Patch Central fixed my menu. I have to go to work now though so I'll pinpoint which esp is giving me the main menu issue once I get home

Maybe you're using a different version of the Requiem mod and the patch central. I know there's 2 patch centrals for Requiem, one is for v1.7 and the other for v1.8

I forget what causes this but let's lower some stuff in the enb.

ReservedMemorySizeMb=128
VideoMemorySizeMb=4096
EnableCompression=false
AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false

Thanks for that! As I was doing my enblocal i knew it looked wrong, I just didn't know how to fix it, i figured I just add my VRAM(2gb) + ram(12gb) would be good. Thanks again ^_^

edit: If it helps, I have 12 gb of ram with Radeon R9 270x. Intel i5 2500k Processor

So I toke off some patches 1 by 1 to find out which esp is giving me that silly no main menu bug and finnaly found the culprit (thanks to you guys ^__^). It was Requiem - Wyrmtooth.esp. I have no idea why its causing it, but I disabled it for now and got my menu back.

So now that we found the culprit, what should I do? Is there a fix? And if not should I disable wyrmtooth all together or just simply play without the compatibility patch? I think its wierd that a quest compatibility patch is causing this
