madskyrim Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I installed step by step STEP EXTENDED using LOOt and its rules. The Loot Rule for the Step Extended Patch.esp is to give priority of 989000 .. so that the esp is always in the end of the list. The problem now is with The Explorer pack. Installed all and when I came for the REGS PATCHES I got completely lost. A userlist for the Regs patches is given for BOSS only. Also the Step Extended patch.esp is always at the bottom of the list (below the Regs Patch - Extended.esp). I think the Regs Extended patch should be below the Step Extended Patch. Which are the best LOOT rules for the Regs Custom patches ?
Greg Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Make the REGS Patch - STEP Extended.esp priority some value larger than STEP Extended Patch.esp. Given that STEP Extended Patch.esp has priority 989000, you could make the REGS Patch - STEP Expended.esp something like 989100 or 989500. I don't think the actual value really matters that much. The other REGS patches should sort correctly in LOOT without any additional rules.
madskyrim Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Thanks for the answer. I have another question. In step-extended, when installing skymills and skyfalls should the falskaar and Wyrmstooth be selected as well in the options ? or is this taken care of by the REGS STEP EXTENDED Patch ? Also considering MO, should Falskaar and Wyrmstooth be installed before SkyMills and Skyfalls ?
Greg Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Thanks for the answer. I have another question. In step-extended, when installing skymills and skyfalls should the falskaar and Wyrmstooth be selected as well in the options ? or is this taken care of by the REGS STEP EXTENDED Patch ? Also considering MO, should Falskaar and Wyrmstooth be installed before SkyMills and Skyfalls ?Yes, I think you should check Falskaar and Wyrmstooth when installing SkyFalls and SkyMills. I just double checked and I have "SkyFalls + SkyMills + DG + DB + FS + WT.esp" so I had both checked. Install everything in the same order as in the REGS guide such that all mods in REGS are below the mods in STEP Core+Extended. The difficulty is keeping track of everything that needs to be installed because you may have to do some backtracking if you want to test everything at the "Benchmark" points. If nothing else, learn from my idiocy.... I installed all of STEP Core+Extended then all of REGS and then spent hours trying to figure out what the bloody ^##$@#$ I mucked up. I think the biggest problem is that I didn't note which patches/optionals needed to be installed (like the Falskaar and Wyrmstooth patches to SkyFalls and SkyMills) so I ended up with a huge pile of mess that didn't work. When I went through this the second time (after starting from scratch) I created a spreadsheet that listed every mod to be installed by STEP Core+Extended and REGS in Column A. As I installed each mod, I noted in Columns B+whatever which patches/optionals need to be installed for this mod but I did not install these patches/optionals just yet. When I reached the Benchmark point (at the end of each section), I installed the patches/optionals for mods in previous blocks for the mods in this block. (In other words, don't install Falskaar and Wyrmstooth patches until after you install Falskaar and Wyrmstooth). I then started a new game with a new character, ran through the Helgen sequence, and walked to each city to make sure everything looks good. It is a lot more time consuming and (painful) to do it this way, but at least you'll know with some certainty that any issues you run into are limited to small block of mods. I think it took me pretty much an entire weekend to install STEP Extended+REGS this way and I haven't noticed any significant issues yet. When you get to REGS, treat each heading as block of mods and test thoroughly after installing all mods in each heading (Cities, Outskirts, Settlements, ...).
madskyrim Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Hi again. Thanks for the previous answer. The problem is the more I ponder on this STEP-REGS the more I am getting queuries popping up in my mind. The REGS wiki says that REGS should be installed right after ALL CORE-EXTENDED has been installed. But the last patches block is again worrying me. So should the order be: Core-ExtendedStep PathesBashed PatchDual Sheath ReduxBetter Shaped WeaponsFNISREGSREGS Compatibility Patches .... ? Because if this is the case, will Dual Sheath Redux Patch Proccer and FNIS Patcher work on the REGS files ?
MonoAccipiter Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) If referring to the sorting order of plugins, I believe it should be something akin to this: STEP & REGS (as sorted by LOOT)STEP PatchesREGS Compatibility PatchesBashed PatchSkyProc Patches & FNIS (LOOT should be sorting them last AFAIK) If referring to the sorting of mods in MO you can simply put the REGS mods after the STEP mods. As long as the SkyProc patches are run from within MO they will patch all the mods you have active. Edited December 9, 2014 by MonoAccipiter
hishutup Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I think they are talking about install order otherwise, I concur with mono. Move regs stuff after step extended…

I agree this is something REGS could be improved upon, hopefully we'll get to it in the future.
