Just installed STEP Extended + Explorer Guide pack, now what?

Hey guys as the title states I don't know what to do now regarding the packs, wheather requiem or revisited, ect are compatible with explorer guide pack, as there is nothing mentioned in their respective wiki pages and I don't want to go installing something that will break my current STEP extended + explorer guide installation.

 

I want some sort of gameplay overhaul that makes combat more deadly, makes loot less common and more rare, and increases immersion as much as possible.

Um there is some guidance on the Requiem pack about going with STEP and REGS. Unfortunately many of the quest mods do not have compatibility patches as yet, but then again may not need them it all depends on the keywords that each mod uses - vanilla etc... Which is why I suggest not using them as Requiem presents enough challenge as is. That said I am using them in my current play through. Not using Fight against the Thalmor mods but everything else. Which means ETaC complete with Dragon Bridge South and with Inns as RRR is not compatible with Requiem. Looks good so far. I will report back if I find some compatibility issues.

 

Though mot necessarily soon.

Ok thanks for the heads-up on Requiem, had another glance at it's Wiki and indeed it states it is perfect for installing over STEP + REGS.

I have been using the MO profiles, creating one for STEP, another for REGS and now one for Requiem. Obiously using the "copy profile" option rather than "create new", so all mods are brought forwards.

 

Regarding Requiem, I'm stuck at this part of the guide (highlighted)...

The load order shown on the page is from Azirok the author of the patches. Personally I would manually place the plugins in the order shown make the patch and then let LOOT sort it.

 

 

 

 

I could use some help again, please.

Do not Merge Requiem.esp but everything else after it here is part of my load order for Requiem. This is based on SR:LE plus REGS (most of) and Requiem, plus a few extras hopefully it will illustrate what you are looking for.

This ordered by BOSS with many BUM instructions. When SR changes to LOOT then I will. I do not have STEP installed at present but when I get around to that again I will have a LOOT order and new patch. I need to do that soon as I want to build updated patches for use with STEP, SR:LE and REGS These will be based around LOOT but would not account for extra mods being used.
 

 

 

 

There are few self made patches for followers and my own Requiem Conflict Resolution patch which is an evil necessity (hard work but worth it), this is something you need to learn how to do. But first make sure you 

 

a) Have a fully working version of STEP Extended.

b) Have a fully working version of STEP Extended + REGS.

 

Before getting busy with Requiem.

 

I am making some more changes to the guide with respect to REGS as some of the quest mods may well be worth having as they are still extremely hard, just got my arse handed to me in the temple of black rock OUCH that mod does exactly what it says on the tin.

I did however download and install (merge) all the requiem patch central patches that the guide said I needed, so I reckon I'm not far off from completing everything (i hope!)

 

Also is there a guide for using LOOT instead of BOSS/BUM as I would prefer not to have to learn how to use a completely different tool is at all possible.

Remove the plugins in red you don't need them, can't find Requiem - Hard Times but there is the Requiem - USKP Patch so if that is the case also remove Requiem - Hard Times - SCRR Patch.esp (in yellow), I can't find the patches for Interesting and inconsequential NPCs.

 

Please only use the plugins shown on the pack page, these patches often come with more than one patch in them and the purpose is to then choose which one / ones you need based on what mods you have. If not using Hard Times then don't have any patches with Hard Times in them. If not using Skyrim immersive Creatures then don't use patches with SIC in them.

 

AS for LOOT I have sent you instructions for that. See yellow part in above post.

Thanks again Smile44 for the help. My STEP Extended is running fine, so is STEP + REGS. I made a list of all the Requiem patches that my STEP + REGS build requires (not using hard times). Can you verify that it is correct. I've expressed some concerns regarding the patch requirements in coloured brackets where I'm not 100% sure.

Remove the plugins in red you don't need them

Ok but in the Requiem wiki it states that if you have STEP Extended, then you are to install X patches, but you're telling me some of the ESP's within these patches are unnecessary? In which case do I right-click Requiem Patch Central in the left pane of MO then go to information>optional ESP's and then move the unnecessary ESP's up in to the optional ESP's window?

Yes those are fine but you have a few missing. Please compare your list to the one on the pack page, leave out the SR only ones but you need all the rest.

Ok I'm pretty sure I've downloaded and installed all the required patches, however the final section of the guide Load order and changes for both STEP and SR:LE is something I have no clue how to do. I've launched B.U.M and cannot make any sense of the UI and features. I really do not know what I'm doing at all!

 

p.s there is not Skyrim/Userlist directory, either.

 

edit: I've just had an epiphany; I'm to use MO plugins pane to drag the load order rather than BOSS B.U.M as your guide says?

Use the load order on the pack page, just manually move all the patches into the same order that is on the page missing out the ones you don't need (SR only) do this in the right hand pane, then launch TES5Edit and select and merge all the patches. Only merge the ones in the top list not the ones for Interesting and Inconsequential NPCs and of course not Requiem.esp itself. Then right click on Requiem Patch Central in the left hand pane, and select Information, in the Optional esp tab move all of the merged plugins up into the optional folder, this will remove them from your load order in the right hand pane. Move your new merged plugin from overwrite into Requiem Patch Central. Then run LOOT and all will be fine. LOOT will place the merged patch after all of it's masters and place the other un-merged patches in the right places for the same reasons, after the file's masters. Then you will be golden.

Ok finally some progress!

 

I've just dragged my Requiem load order within the plugins pane of MO but have no idea if I have interpreted the guide correctly. Maybe I did it wrong. Would appreciate if you would let me know a. if I've missed any plugins that I need and b. if the plugins are indeed correctly ordered. (requiem plugins marked red at the bottom of the list)

p.s I unticked (disabled) the plugins that you red marked in my last load order list that I posted above. I guess once my requiem load order is correct then I can disable these plugins via left-pane information>optional ESP's? Baby steps all the way for me, I'm afraid!

OK I have put together the list of plugins you need in the correct order with instructions for LOOT. Make sure that what you have matches this exactly. Manually move all your patches into the correct order and then merge them.

Many thanks for the concise list.

 

TES5Edit now lets me load all the plugins without that previous error, however when I get to the "merge plugins" stage, I do not see  any "Renumber Form IDs" checkbox, and clicking OK brings up this window, which does not allow me to type a name for the merged plugin...only a couple of drop-down menu's?!
