Install SKSE with MO - SKSE.ini not regcognized

Question

Posted

I install SKSE 1.7.0 with MO per Step 2.2.8/2.2.9guide. I copied all .dll and .exe to the skyrim folder. I created SKSE folder and SKSE.ini per guide (added memory fix) then repackage and install with MO.

The memory fix was not active when I check with memory log. SKSE seem to work fine. Please help to see what may need to be done. I can use SMME, but would like to make sure SKSE is working properly.

I had a couple of problems getting this sorted out as well - no idea why.

Try right-clicking the SKSE script mod folder in MO and choosing "open in explorer". If the file isn't there, copy it into the filer window. If it is there, make sure it's in the right place.

I think it is in the right place. Will double check.

Having the exact same issue, when installing SKSE I archived the data folder and installed with MO, but I copy and pasted the other 6 or 7 files (following a tutorial on youtube) so could this be the reason my SKSE.ini isnt changing my blocks memory?

Whenever I check the log it always says

256 256

Even tho its set to 768 (I think...currently in work and cant even remember) and its definitely not a text doc. I wanted to be sure and downloaded the SKSE.ini from nexus.

Yeah I know im rambling and everything, but im just making sure my/our problem is fully understood :)

I've seen this happen before when I had file extensions hidden. When you make the original ini and you name it SKSE.ini, if you have file extensions hidden, that'll often append a .txt extension to the file name, ie SKSE.ini.txt.

You should know you're doing it right if you get some form of warning about changing a file's extension.

Not saying that's your issue, but just something to double check.

Yeah I thought of that aswell. So to be sure I downloaded it off the nexus. And when I check folder details it tells me its a configuration file, with a little cog on the pic.

Just been looking around online.... is there a "mempatch.dll" or something similar that is also needed to make this work. I didnt totally understand it but somethimg about ssme? ... do I need more than just skse installed?

"Ok. For the people that struggle with this I found a work around, I deleted the [memory] section from the SKSE.INI and installed SSME. At first I couldnt get this to work correctly but it turned out it was my interent security deleting and blockin the dll file. So you need to stop that happening. Ans SUCCESS! My blocks now say I have 512.... now I just need to figure out how to increase the value
Now im sure alot of you people are going "duuuh!!" But for the people that dont know its very frustrating."

ok so thats what i did to get it working....happy now :)

Security software, DRM or otherwise, causing undue hardships... Who'd a thunk it. lol

I know right!! .. it kept deleting the .dll and telling me that it was not compatible with windows, which only confused me.
