So does Skyrim still load the the .bsa even tho it's redundant? (I'm not talking about my mod.)

 

It will load the textures it needs out of the bsa. Loose files take priority. Ideally you will pack all of your mods into a bsa and load it through a dummy file, or in the case of a compilation like SMC let it do it for you. The only time its really ideal to unpack bsa's is if you are using mod organizer because it doesn't actually touch your game folder. I do not use it yet, but most (especially around here) recommend it.

The BSA is not redundant, as is evident by the fact that you extracted needed textures from the archive before replacing it as blank. You are not improving performance by doing this.

Glad, you brought these a across I thought TESV.exe loads all resources through a list rather or not it was being replaced causing a longer load time.
