I'm looking to see if anyone has any advice.  I understand that Skyrim is heavily dependent on the cpu and not so much on the gpu as other games are (though granted, a decent gpu is a must for skyrim)

My question is, how do we get the most out of our cpu and gpu for maximum performance?  Or is there anything we can do?  I look at my gpu and it's running pretty fair at average 85% load, but my cpu hits between 40-55% usage on average.  Is there a way to help my cpu run a little more efficiently in the game?  Or am I chasing after rabbits here?  :p

Step 1: Go to Bethesda, Maryland.

Step 2: Break into Bethesda HQ.

Step 3: Steal source code for the game, and source code for the other games, you know while you're there and all.

Step 4: Optimize the code.

Step 5: Release the optimized version as a mod for the rest of us.

Step 6: Wake up and start cursing because it was all a dream. :P

figured as much. I'm just infuriated that with enb, SRO, dawn of whiterun and windhelm, and any sort of riverwood mod I use to make the place less bleak, I hit 25fps and below in whiterun, windhelm, and riverwood. and there are areas in the game where if I happen to swing the camera around at the right point in time i'll dip below 30 fps. All textures are optimized, and the enb is not heavy. the enb only costs me about 5 fps average. almost everywhere else in the game I can hit solid 45fps outside and 60 fps inside.

And the reason this is so infuriating is because I can run almost every other game for pc on the planet at a solid 60 fps maxed out. the exceptions are crysis 3 and metro last light, and even those I run near max settings comfortably.

Actually, they moved to Rockville (still in Maryland), at least according to Wikipedia. Wait, why am I helping you with unlawful things? I'm not going to be suprised if someone rings my doorbell and then yells "STOP! YOU VIOLATED THE LAW!" at me.

You could turn off SkyLighting and I bet you won't even know its gone. Probably give you a nice boost while using ENB. It is in enbseires.ini under [EFFECT] line EnableSkyLighting=true -> set to false.

I lived in the DC area for a summer, it was insanely humid for someone that only knew the dry desert heat, but it gives me an idea. Maybe we can shut off their central cooling and flush them out of the building. We pretend to be the AC guys and that is our in.

well, I might turn off skylighting. Idunno, I think that I wouldn't get the fps boost tbh because i'm using realvision performance edition. the skylighting is already set to low.

mwuh hah hah let's do it >;) I think it's safe to say that quite a few of us here are more than capable of getting the data once we figure out where to look.

Well I did a battery of tests today on my cpu and I have actually come to find that overclocking my cpu from 3.3 ghz to 4.0ghz like I had it before was not giving me the performance boost that you would expect. I was seeing maybe a 1-3 frame rate increase in some areas, and still dropping down to 25 fps in others.

I admit that I have not attempted to overclock my evga gtx 760 SC 4GB edition though. Not sure where to start on that one, and I have heard it won't really amount to much for skyrim and does not play well with enb.

Overclocking has never been worth the tiny bit of performance increase you get from doing it, IMO. I'd rather keep my warranties.

@Deathneko

There's not much you're going to be able to do unless you're will to drop the ENB, drop the game settings (such as AA) a little or the resolution you play at.
