Fifth1620 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Hi everyone! Hope you're having a good new year so far! I picked up modding Skyrim (again) and was dismayed to see a bug I've been having for a couple of years still existing. There seems to be a consistent noise and shimmer to textures that's really distracting in-person. My load order's getting larger and I have quite a few texture mods installed, along with Community Shaders, but I can confirm this effect appears in vanilla Skyrim as well, and has done since SE. I'm showing this with Community Shaders' Upscaling on and off because Upscaling both hides the far-off black shimmering that makes grass look horrific, and exacerbates the close-up noise that makes moving foliage feel like a dream sequence. I found a similar topic on this forum Foliage noise/grain issue, but it was never answered. If someone has any more info on what causes this and how I could fix it, that'd be great! I really can't see any issues besides some of the grass shadows flickering. Stabbing in the dark, I will guess that you are on a true 4K setup. This exposes issues that would otherwise go unnoticed. Use max/highest quality ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, and antialiasing. Avoid setting conflicting values in ENB/CS/gameINIs/video drivers. Use only one source, and disable in the others. Prefer CS/ENB sources. Upscaling likely resolves, because you are looking at a lower resolution when you `upscale`.
