Hello,

I've been playing my game with the current STEP 2.3 build for some weeks now. On top of the complete STEP build, with all of its optional mods, I also installed several other mods, which you can see in this topic.

For a few weeks now, I've been suffering random crashes related to this XAudio2_7.dll file. I've tried a range of measures to try to fix the issue. I've also excluded both the game's folders and MO2's folders from Windows 11's native Antivirus. I've also manually set the size of the pagefile on the game's drive to 40000 MB. Nothing seems to really fix the issue. While it's not game-breaking, at least until now, it happens frequently enough that it's getting on my nerves, really.

An online crash logger analyzer has suggested verifying the game's files with Steam. I wonder... Is this something that I can safely do without worrying that it can break my mod setup? It took me several days and many hours to follow and complete the current STEP v2.3 build for Skyrim SE to put it at risk with some unfortunate decision. Not to mention that I've been playing my current game for tens and tens of hours and I would hate to break anything.

Do you have any suggestion for me? Thanks in advance.

Do you have large sectors (> 512 kb) on the drive you are running the game? If so, it's likely related to that and can be fixed by this mod (also see the first post on that mod).

Hi z929669,

Thank you. To be honest, I didn't know the answer to your question. Luckily, Google has helped me know that with Windows System Information tool I can check that information. And so I've done it. According to that tool, the SSD where I have the game and Mod Organizer 2 installed has 512 bytes per sector, so I guess that means that mod wouldn't help, right?

I've also read the first post of that mod. The one thing that I've tried very recently and that it's also mentioned there is putting my audio device quality to 16-bit. Normally, I leave it at 32-bit - 44Khz, but since in the Crash Logger online analyzer was also suggested trying lowering that to 16-bit instead, I've tried that as well.

The latest news is that in my most recent gaming session, which has been pretty long, I haven't experienced any CTD. That's something.

I've got a couple of new CTDs in the last hours.

I'm going to try that mod you've suggested, z929669. Worst thing that can happen is that it does not help, I guess.

One thing that I've noticed since this issue started to happen to me is that most of the times it does happen soon after I enter combat.
