In short, Skyrim Unplugged allows you to enforce the Automatic Updates setting in Steam, allowing you to choose when you want to update Skyrim.

FYI

Just saw today that my TESV.exe has been REMOVED. It is not present in the Recycle Bin either. I DID NOT delete the file; however I cannot say what application or event was responsible.

Any other reports of this behavior? I simply restored a backup of this file (the ONLY file missing BTW)

Also, double check the file size of your Update.bsa file. Version 1.5.26 is ~13MB. Version 1.6 is ~16MB.

Yeah who knows what the trigger is, it took a couple weeks for mine to finally delete and attempt to update my stuff, was even longer for Z and you. Watching water boil is just so damn exciting though :P

Nothing has tried to upgrade my Skyrim installation, so I'm beginning to think that whatever did it the first time remembers that it tried to upgrade and thus doesn't attempt to do it again. With patch 1.7 looming, I'm going to update SU to fix the exceptions (going to trap them all even if they should never be encountered), fix the remaining issue with uninstalling Skyrim before enabling updates, and apply an extra DACL to the skyrim folder itself.

In trying to determine path information in a consistent manner, I have a small test program that I would like folks to run if they are willing. It will attempt to determine wither Skyrim and Creation Kit are installed from most preferred source to least preferred source, and spit out some information in two different text boxes.

If you do run this, please reply (or PM me) and paste the information that you received as well as if you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit OS (I need this information as it determines the registry path that is taken). The purpose is to determine if the most preferred source of install information is consistent or not.

SkyrimInstallTest.exe

Thanks.

Install Source: Software\Valve\Steam

No path data found for CK (it is installed and works fine), I guess that's where the error occurs
