Hard drive wiped but elements of LOOT remain. How to safely remove so I can reinstall?

Darklustre

Question

Some of my LOOT files got wiped. There's no longer a .exe so I can't run it. I also can't reinstall it so it adds the parts that are missing. It tells me to use Add or Remove Programs but Loot isn't seen there. I could just delete the files manually, but does Loot put files in different places?

Please let me know how I should safely remove it. Thanks!

You can try Revo Uninstaller, which is designed to help in cased like yours. Just use the free version and don't buy the upgrade, unless you really want to. I've personally used this, but I typically uninstall programs like this when I'm finished using them. This just keeps them from loading in the background after you're done with them.

We recommend installing LOOT from the 7z archive rather than the Win EXE:

LOOT(Forum)

  1. Download the 7z archive of the latest 64-bit version of LOOT (e.g., loot_#.#.#-win64.7z).
  2. Double-click the archive to open it in 7z, and double-click into the top folder to expose all of the LOOT files/folders to be installed.
  3. Create the ..\Modding\Tools\LOOT folder, and drag all files/folders into this folder.
    • When upgrading LOOT, remove all existing files/folders, and replace them with those from the latest archive.

Just move the files from the archive into your LOOT install location. LOOT doesn't integrate files into Windows or the Win registry that I know of, so uninstalling it via the EXE isn't necessary, AFAIK. Windows should give you the option to remove the LOOT installer if it isn't working.
