HadToMakeAnAccount Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 I just spent about 100hrs following guides and making a mod list. Everything works swimmingly (even the perks, believe it or not), except some textures (about 90% of city roads and buildings) are being covered by additional LOD textures/meshes. I used xLODGEN hoping that would fix it, but it didn't. I tried DynDOLOD hoping that would fix it, but I'm not smart enough to get that working-I spent about 12hrs trying to get it to work, but it wouldn't. From what I understand, this is a symptom of the textures and meshes I want (cleaned vanilla + SMIM) being overwritten. The problem is that I've spent so much time on getting to this point, that my brain can't comprehend this stuff anymore, and I'm at the point of permanently giving up and never trying to play Skyrim again if I can't get some sort of solution. INIs and MCMs have been set up according to the Step Guide, I used LOOT and manual rearranged the mods that have to be in a specific order according to the authors, and I rearranged MO2's left pane to match the plugin list. Any help would be appreciated, thanks everybody. The mod list: https://pastebin.com/g42sWtsP I finally got DynDOLOD to kinda work. It made some html files, but failed to generate LOD files. It says I'm missing Beyond Skyrim - Bruma textures, but I installed both of the main files with MO2. I'm not a very smart person, but I doubt Bruma's files affect Whiterun anyway.

This is likely the problem The left pane shows asset priority, while the right pane shows plugin (definitions of game mechanics and objects) priority. The two are completely different priorities and EACH can have independent and dramatic impact on the outcome. If you have mods that overlap with the Step SSE 2.2.0 guide or mods that are similar in addition to those, then simply try reordering the MO left pane to be consistent with the mods shown in the Step Mod tables. These tables and rows are organized by proper asset priority. Note the table names and types of mods included (look at the folders inside the mods ... are they just meshes and textures or do they have plugins, scripts, SKSE, interface, etc.). That should change the outcome potentially significantly. Remember not to evaluate anything with your current LOD outputs. Disable those and evaluate the landscape in loaded cells of nearby areas. Run around a log and note the rocks/plants/trees/water/etc. Once happy with that, regenerate terrain, TexGen, and DynDOLOD.

I have a separate issue with disabling xLODGen's output: MO2 gives me an error and won't allow SKSE to run. I can work around it, but it takes me temporarily deleting files. I'll report back, thank you again.

I followed your advice and modified the left pane to follow the Step guide with optional (yet helpful) separators, but I still have the overlapping and flickering mesh issues.
HadToMakeAnAccount Posted June 11, 2023 Author Posted June 11, 2023 I found the solution: A Clear Map of Skyrim and Other Worlds breaks textures for me. If anyone else has the same issue, try removing this one first.

During installation of ACMOS, you're offered the 'LOD Setup' options of with or without DynDOLOD LOD32. If you opt for DynDOLOD LOD32, you must run DynDOLOD 3 and generate LOD32 LODs, otherwise you'll get the issue of LOD textures overlapping full textures in the overworld. It's not clear if you're following a single guide or mixing several guides simultaneously, it sounds like you're improvising and putting the cart before the horse. You should put together a smaller but stable and functioning base mod list while getting more familiar with the core tools and mods, before piling up more stuff on top like Beyond Skyrim - Bruma. Each mod you add potentially creates new issues. Furthermore, if you're not strictly following the STEP Guide but are instead branching out on your own, you should read and follow the separate ACMOS installation and DynDOLOD instructions on its mod page. This goes for every other mod you install yourself without strictly following a single, self-contained and cohesive, guide. Note this warning on the ACMOS page: Quote Warning: Do NOT install the "With DynDOLOD LOD32" option if you are not going to use DynDOLOD 3! This will cause significant issues with LODS otherwise! If you're not willing to spend time learning the tools, the mods, and how to make everything work together, you may want to use a Wabbajack mod list or some Nexus collections instead.
