SkyrimSE.exe+1353771 Crashes whenever i Load something or save

Question

Posted

Like the title says my game loads in just fine to where i was and i can run around no matter if it's insider or outside. But when i try to leave or interacte with somethign it crashes after the loading screen and i can't even save anymore because it crashes before the save is complete.

The game worked perfectly untill two days ago when it just crashed when i tried entering old hroldan inn. i uses coc to get in and it worked and later just walked out and it didn't crash. I went on adventuring until sunderstone gorge where it crashed again and now when i reload before old hroldan it crashes whenever i save. i don't know what is happening but i know that it's definetly dyndolod but it's weird since dyndolod have been pretty f**king stable so far.

If the game was able to load it yesterday there should be no reason for it to not load it today. Maybe test if the safe tool can open it (assuming it support zlib)

Test with no compression, which is the same as Skyrim does it. Then neither LZ4 or zlib compression can interfere.

Maybe double check SSE Engine fixes that it really fixes the LZ4 buffer when using the default INI setting.

Hey there. I am new to the SSE modding but followed the STEP guide to a T but I have run into some issues. Originally dealing with a CTD on save as well. I found this forum post and was able to apply the SaveGameMaxSize = true which was in EngineFixes.toml not .ini (not sure if that matters), but it worked, until today. I am CTD on saving the same as before so I tried disabling DynDOLOD to see if that changed the crash log. It did not change the CTD situation.

I added the compression rule to both Skyrim.ini as well as SkyrimPrefs.ini but I am unsure how to verify its being compressed.

The compression buffer bug has nothing to do with DynDOLOD, so removing it does not affect the problem - other than the save data might fit into the smaller buffer.

If you change the INI setting to not compress the save game, the file will be much larger. AFAIK the zlip compression has no issues, so that should probably be the preferred setting.

I added the zlip compressions rule (uiCompression=1) to both skyrim.ini as w2ell as SkyrimPrefs.ini. Not sure where I added the rule previously but these two folders were found This PC\Documents\My Games\ Skyrim Special Edition. Still appears to be the same CTD on saving. I also tested and the save crashed whether it was an interior or exterior cell.

The crash log still shows LZ4Compression being the problem. You are probably not editing the right INI files, for example if using profiles in MO etc.

Errors in the papyrus log are from the script engine. They do not usually cause CTDs. The message "A catastrophic error has occurred. All threads have become unresponsive. Please debug this issue or notify the author." comes from the Campfire mod.

Since DynDOLOD is not part of the load order anymore and not causing any of these problems, this is about all the help I can offer here.

You my friend have solved it. I was not editing the correct ini files. Added it to the correct ini's and its not crashing anymore. Thank you very much for your help. Oh, and if you wouldn't mind, could you show me where in the crash log it shows the compression being the issue? I want to be able to read and understand crash logs so I can maybe resolve something like this myself in the future.

The save is probably corrupt. This is the DynDOLOD support forum. You will find better help posting at the appropriate forums for generic help and troubleshooting.
