Question

Hi,

In the STEP installation guide for MO2 it says this:

  • Go to the Plugins tab and click Basic diagnosis plugin on the left and double-click true next to check_modorder and change it to false.

However there is no "check_modorder" in there as far as I can see (as of MO v2.1.5). Was this command removed, renamed, or does it not matter?

Think that was removed several iterations ago, and was never in MO2. You can ignore that. What it USED to do was analyze you load order and try to help you set up the files in a good order, much as LOOT does automagically... I think the intent was for it to replace LOOT eventually, but it was never robust enough, and often created more problems than it was solving... thus the removal from the program.

Okay, thank you. I am a complete noob at this, only returning to Skyrim and STEP after a six year (!) absence. Another obstacle I'm encountering right now is that I can't find where MO2 stores the profile I created. STEP installation for BethIni says:

  1. In the INI Path box, browse to the profile previously created when installing Mod Organizer: Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Mod Organizer\profiles\ProfileName. Select the INI and click [Open]. BethINI will restart.

Only, I can't browse to the profile I created in MO2 because there is no /profiles folder in the directory where I installed MO2. I named the profile STEP Core, as suggested, but can't find that anywhere outside the actual MO2 program. I'm sorry for being so clueless, but any pointers, here?

Depends on how you installed MO2 - in portable mode, the profile will be in the same directory you installed MO into. If you did instance mode (which is what is sounds like...) you need to set it to C:/Users/<user name>/AppData/Local/Mod Organizer/Profiles to find it instead.

Note that most guides either tell you or assume that will use portable mode. You may want to shift over to it, and this can be done fairly easy if you need to.

Thanks again. I am just following the main STEP guide, letter by letter as far as I am able. Meaning I chose the installer version of MO. I'll switch over to the portable for ease of use, then.
