Can not find DynDOLOD Resources SE Core Files

jcamp

Question

post-12775-0-69861700-1527044466_thumb.png

I manually installed the resource files and have it checked on ModOrganizer2, they are up-to-date with my standalone files, added the -sse argument and now I'm generally confused because my TextGen worked completely fine but DynDOLOD refuses to work. Can anyone help me with this?

"The first thing I suggested to check" is the log, which apparently has a suggestion to verify (it doesnt) and anyway I did reinstall the resources multiple times and the only thing that was ever overwriting them was texgen output (which should overwrite them according to all instructions I can find) however I will try reinstalling everything again see if it works.

The only files that were being overwritten were files generated by TexGen, according to the instructions those files are to be installed over the core resources. I ran texgen again (deleting the old files of course) and it still had the error, I deleted everything from dyndolod (including resources, texgen, texgen output, and dyndolod) and redownloaded and installed everything. I finally get a screen that is useful. apparently it wasnt dyndolod resources that was corrupt (or the first 4 reinstalls would have fixed it) but rather the dyndolod install that was corrupt. I dont know whether it was the exe or one of the other files. it was quite annoying however to have to redownload so much and ask why only to basically get "you didnt follow the instructions" twice when I did several times.

Since reinstalling the Standalone does not change Resource Files and the archives on the server are fine, we can conclude that key files from DynDOLOD Resources files were corrupted or overwritten when unpacking the archive or afterwards. I will add that scenario to the messages.

I also seem to have the same issue. Opening skyrim launcher didnt fix it. My actual skyrim install is  "C:\Users\ulfss\Documents\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Skyrim".

I also seem to have the same issue. Opening skyrim launcher didnt fix it. My actual skyrim install is  "C:\Users\ulfss\Documents\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Skyrim".

Here's my log:

I can not begin to imagine all  the errors and issues caused by executing programs from the documents folder. Why would you do that to yourself? So if there are file access/writing issue that would be the first to check.

Be that as it may. xEdit and consequently DynDOLOD, which is a modified xEdit, read the Bethesda entry in the Windows Registry for the game path. That path is obviously set to c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\

If the starting the launcher is not updating the Windows Registry it might be because the OS, UAC or anti virus are preventing the launcher from accessing the Windows Registry. It might have to with the fact that the Documents folder is supposed to hold data and not programs.

Thanks, I did another complete reinstall (third times the charm) of ultimate skyrim and now i'm on the DynDOLOD part again. Now my skyrim install is "C:\Games\SteamApps\common\Skyrim" and DynDOLOD is "C:\Games\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Utilities\DynDOLOD". My ultimate skyrim install is "C:\Games\US\Ultimate Skyrim 4.0.3".

and yet still the same issue. "Error: Can not find DynDOLOD Resources core files required to create improved LOD.  RTFM DynDOLOD_Manual.html requirements section.  Verify the core files from DynDOLOD Resources archive has been installed completly.  Verify the game is starting in the desired game mode. Nevermind i fixed it, Mod Organizer was still using the old setup. Thanks for your patience. I had to edit the paths of managed game in mod organizer as well as for Skyrim and Skyrim launcher there as well.

To avoid problems I suggest to follow the installation instructions in the manual:

From the DynDOLOD Standalone archive copy the content of the 'DynDOLOD' folder, which contains the files TexGen.exe/TexGenx64.exe, TexGen.exe/TexGenx64.exe, DynDOLOD_QuickStart.html and the sub folders 'Docs' and 'Edit Scripts' with all their content into a new 'DynDOLOD' folder outside of special OS folders like 'Programs Files' or 'Program Files (x86)', the SteamApps or game folders and Mod Organizers virtual file structure. Do not mix with old versions or xEdit installation.

Hello, I'm having some trouble with DynDOLOD. I've seen this topic posted a couple times here already, but the fix for those aren't helping me. I have the registry right, but it's still not working for me.

When I launch DynDOLOD from its folder it tells me I have the right mode for SE, but when I launch the same link from mo2 it says I'm in TE5 mode (I've doubled checked that I chose the right exec numerous times). I've downloaded the SE resources both manually and through mo2, but I'm still getting this issue. Sorry in advance if this is just caused by my bad direction skills.

As explained in the manual (and most likely in all the posts you found here and elsewhere) add the -sse command line parameter to start the tools in Skyrim Special Edition mode.

While the included manual is mod manager agnostic it also includes instructions how to do that with Mod Organizer. See DynDOLOD-Shortcut.txt for help.

Once it starts in the correct mode it does a simple check if some key files from correct DynDOLOD Resources Core Files exist in the load order.

If they are not, a message about missing DynDOLOD Resources is printed.

Obviously the tools need to be started from within MO if the DynDOLOD Resources are installed as a mod in MO - as they should.

Very annoying error and very annoying that there seems to be no straightforward solution or even an explanation online.

Trying to install DynDOLOD for the current version of SSE and for whatever reason the program has an invalid installation path. and it says not to install in the game folder or as a mod.

This is ridiculous because installing DynDOLOD anywhere BUT the same directory as MO2 results in the program being unable to locate the SE files it needs.

I've tried installing it from a folder on the desktop and the recommended way through a 'Tools' folder in MO2. The later resulting in invalid installation path and the former missing the SE files.

Completely at a loss for what to do.

Do not install DynDOLOD into Program Files x86. Do not install the game into Programs Files x86. The OS UAC and Antivirus regularly interfere. That should be common knowledge.

Do not install DynDOLOD into special windows folders, like Desktop.

DynDOLOD/xEdit/xLODGen is not part of the game or a mod manager and has no place in any of their folder structures.

The message that DynDOLOD Resources Core Files can not be found either means the Core Files are not installed completely (sometimes mod managers fail to download or unpack archives correctly) or that DynDOLOD is prevented access to read the files.

Where SHOULD I install DynDOLOD then, and where should I move the SSE folder to as well? I can't seem to do anything right and apparently the default place where Skyrim SSE is installed is incorrect.

I moved the files from the DynDOLOD download folder to a specific folder called DynDOLOD just inside my C drive this time. No sub folders, so Program Files x86. Same Error. I tried moving the SSE folder out of Program Files x86 and changing the MO2 directory. Fatal Error.

So C:\DynDOLOD for example would suffice.

I suggest to follow a modding guide how to set the game and mod organizer etc.

I have no idea what "same error" or "Fatal Error" is supposed to mean without useful information or context. Though the last one might be probably because the game installation was moved, but the Windows Registry not updated with the new path information. Start the games launcher once to update.

The 'same error' I mentioned was referencing the first post that you responded to 'Invalid Installation Path' I have been following a guide in fact. 'Nordic Skyrim Yet Another Guide to Modding Your Skyrim SE' found here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12562 The guide (which admittedly may be out of date with regards to some tools) specifically says to place the DynDOLOD folder into a 'Tools' folder within the modding the folder which is referred to as "Your Modding Folder." This information can be found under the SSELODGEN and DYNDOLOD tab in "Installation." However, I found that doing this resulted in the error 'Invalid Installation Path.' I have tried changing the install directory to elsewhere and receive a different error Missing DynDOLOD SE Core Files. I really don't know what I am doing wrong. I have followed the directions to the letter and keep getting the same errors.

... specifically says to place the DynDOLOD folder into a 'Tools' folder within the modding the folder which is referred to as "Your Modding Folder." ...

The above guide says:

"Also, I highly recommend to make a modding folder for all tools, backups, custom mods and patches, etc. anywhere on a hard drive. You will be installing there a lot of important things (like xEdit) so it will be good to have it an easily accessible place."

And he gives "D:\Skyrim Mods" as an example.

I admit that does not specifically say that the "Modding Folder" must be outside special OS folder and outside the MO folder but common sense as well as sheson's post (i.e the one right above yours) will tell you not to do so.

Did you try to use a "Modding Folder" outside the MO folder and outside special OS folders? Can you detail together the folder you are installing DynDOLOD to and the error message you are getting?

As I side note, I would advise against installing MO under program files, obviously you can get (almost) any configuration to work with proper permissions on the OS level but why choose paths which may cause problems?

The guide you linked specifically says "Mod Organizer 2 should not be installed inside a system protected folder such as Programs Files (x86). Also avoid installing MO2 inside the Game folder as this causes problems with the vfs library. Download the main file (Archive version), and extract the contents. Create a folder D: drive, name it Mod Organizer 2, and extract the contents to it. Run the executable, and select Portable, and then Skyrim Special Edition."

I do not see any reason it has to be "D:\Mod Organizer 2" but that could work, as well as "C:\MO2" or "F:\Games\SkyrimMods\ModOrganizer2" and so on. Just make sure you don't install such tools inside windows folders (i.e. "program files"). Like already stated above, also don't install DynDOLOD under the MO folder.
