Please help!! Random CTDs

I spent the money on my pc to have the (better than) necessary requirements so I could run Skyrim with the overhauls and beautifications that I have seen in these videos and screen shots.

 

I have no idea what I am doing wrong or what is going wrong with my skyrim but I cannot get past 45 seconds of gameplay before I get a CTD. The only mods that I have installed are the mods from the STEP list (core and extended) and an ENB preset.

 

It took me 23 hours straight of googling and wiki/reddit searches to finally figure out why I crashing because of the ENB and the macrostuttering, but I finally got those issues fixed. Now however, I'm getting CTD after a max of 45 seconds of gameplay (loading a clean save just before character creation just to get that). If I start a new game, I do not even get to Helgen before it crashes.  I'm at 69 hours now and I can't take it anymore.

 

I followed the step guide and recommendations to the letter. I have run Wrye Bash, TESVEdit, Loot and just for the sake of saying that I have done it...Merge PLugins and Memory Block Logs. I am simply at my wits end here and cannot figure out what is going on.

 

I have fixed ini's for skse, enb and skyrimprefs. I have verified game integrity with steam. I have even done a complete uninstall and reinstall of skyrim and the mods to see if that helped and still get the same thing. (Granted that the few seconds that I'm in the game it looks amazing...thank you by the way for that.) 

 

Please could someone help me figure this out before I no longer have any hair....

The fact that you've only got STEP mods should help narrow things down!

 

Until someone more experienced comes along, I've only got a couple of basic suggestions for you :/

 

 

1. Instead of loading a 'clean save', I personally would use 'coc qasmoke' from the main menu
 

2. If you haven't already, might be worth checking the CTD section of the STEP Guide

 

3. For the sake of problem isolation, I'd disable your ENB / reset it back to just the STEP recommended settings

 

4. I'm sure many have no issues, but I personally found 'Footprints', 'Wet & Cold', and 'Enhanced Blood Textures' caused a lot of crashes for me...

I'd recommend copying your current MO profile, to a new 'test' profile, then disabling those 3 mods (and any dependencies(such as the STEP patch)) to see if you can go longer 45 seconds!

No, you have quite a few mods in there that aren't STEP mods. So you've clearly not just followed the STEP Guide. Merged Plugins is also not part of the Guide. We HIGHLY suggest new users follow the Guide explicitly until they are familiar enough with modding to be able to adventure out on their own. Once you have a pure STEP installation, then we'll be able to help you better. As it is right now, there are too many unknown mods in your install for us to be of much help.

I feel like I'm always bothering you. This will be my second plea for help. Ok, the first one I did figure out on my own, but still. Again, I apologize if I'm asking too "needy"

I did follow the guide. I didn't use Merge Plugins. I am experiencing ctds. HOWEVER, I do believe it's some old scripts and broken code left over from previous playthroughs causing this issue for me, and I couldn't find it. So, I completely deleted EVERYTHING, including Skyrim saves, inis, backups, and downloads. And I'm going to just start from scratch. Saves don't matter to me. Sorry if this horrifies anyone. I really am not that kind of a person. The thrill for me is modding and the "Hack & Slash" of coding. HOWEVER, I screwed up ONE tiny thing. I "installed" SKSE this time. And for the life of me, I can't remember if the Skyrim Data folder starts out with a "Scripts" folder. The issue came up when I couldn't locate ANYONE from SKSE.

Really, Listen to Akatosh, on this one. You don't want to swim in CTDs. You don't need to be as drastic as me. Reinstalling is not that big of a deal, and you can actually do it quite quickly. Uninstall all your mods and through MO. Create a new profile in MO (I always name them Basic Step) Follow STEP 10 precisely, which will be easier because you've already done it at least once before that I know of. Do NOT add anything of the other mods. Now, start up the game make sure everything is gtg, do whatever it is you want. Run around, explore. (I do like to do that). Then quit.

NOW, go back to MO, and COPY your Profile Basic Step to something like Omnis Step. I have to be honest here, Its probably a bad habit of mine, but I copy mine outside of MO and tweak it before I start up MO. It will probably easier for you to just COPY your Profile Basic Step IN MO though. NOW Add the mods you would like to have additionally in your game. You will need to Run, in this order preferably, TES5Edit, Loot, WyreBash, Dual Sheath Redux, and FNIS. Really, you don't NEED Merge Plugins with Step because, I don't know if you noticed, but a lot of STEP are Textures, Meshes, and Sounds. These are not things that count against you. I've used Merge Plugins a few times when I bundle my own creations together just so I didn't lose my own home grown mods. 

Oh, also, This particular mod "Shadowmarks for Player Homes" Only the Textures are needed. NOT the esp. 

Just from scanning take ALL this below OUT for your Basic. Consider using something other than Climates of Tamriel. I love CoT as well. But, all the dang patches just doesn't make it worth it.
