Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Latest and greatest news:

Dual Sheath Redux is almost complete! Three things left to do:

1. Uninstall Testing / Clean Up Code

2. Meshes For All Vanilla Content

3. Dragonborn Workaround (since Dragonborn isn't readable by SkyProc yet)

This means that the mod is fully functional right now with no issues that I can find other than the above.

Sounds awesome Neo looking forward to seeing what you have cooked up!

I do have a small annoyance that I would like to ask about.

A few of the mods like wet and cold have these REALLY annoying messages when starting a new game... after having started a new game a million times I kinda know them to heart now and would like to know what to remove from the mod to make sure they never show again!

I hope someone has already done this!

I'm trying to follow your guide, specifically this part:

Open TES5Edit.

Select all Bethesda ESMs, Unofficial Patch ESPs, and DeadlyDragons.esp then click [OK].

Expand "Faction" under DeadlyDragons.esp and select the "00032D9C" Node.

Drag the "XNAM - Relation" for "DraugrFaction" from Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp to DeadlyDragons.esp.

Click the [X] in the upper right hand corner, uncheck "Backup plugins", and click [OK].

When I drag the DraugrFaction as specified, I get a warning, and click yes. However, after doing that, and closing TES5Edit, it doesn't prompt me to overwrite or backup anything.

Hrm... thats odd. Is your mod files for some reason read only or something like that?

I just did this part:

Open TES5Edit.

Select all Bethesda ESMs, Unofficial Patch ESPs, and Radiant and Unique Potions and Poisons.esp then click [OK].

Expand "Ingestible" under Radiant and Unique Potions Poisons and Booze.esp and select the "000CD883" node.

Drag the "FULL - Name" record from Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp to Radiant and Unique Potions Poisons and Booze.esp.

Select the "000E6DF5" node.

Drag the "Sound - Consume" record from Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp to Radiant and Unique Potions Poisons and Booze.esp.

Click the [X] in the upper right hand corner, uncheck "Backup plugins", and click [OK].

and it worked as expected. Gonna do some further investigating on this Deadly Dragons problem.

Okay, problem solved (maybe?)...

Instead of dragging DraugrFaction from USKP to DeadlyDragons, I dragged the GroupCombatReaction portion under the XNAMRelation field for DraugrFaction in the same section and it turned green, thereby prompting me to save the new DeadlyDragons.esp.

Is this good? lol

I have finally found the source of my most recent ctds:

Skyrim Flora Overhaul - running either 1.79e, the summer edition 1.80 or summer edition after ddsopt all result in frequent crashes.

Running 1.81a basic is far more stable. VRAM is sitting happily at 2600 -2800.

Now I have no idea how to fix that.

The texture for the trees is in HD trees not in skyrim flora... helped for me to reduce the normals in that.

Also the mushrooms mod... you would be surprised at how many fungi are in forested areas and there is no real reason that they are in the quality they are in.

Are you running DDSopt to reduce the resolution or for some other purpose? The other SFO versions you are having problems with require more VRAM and GPU as well as CPU/RAM (because of the required change to one of the grass texture parameters), so it isn't surprising that the basic version runs with more stability.

Bizarre update on SR.

Found issue with Bring out your dead. - what issue?

On the BOYD install note section there is this line after the edits.

Warning:If to edit BOYD in this way - CTD on main menu. Submitted by Iroha, seems email feature doesn't works...

Which IMO doesn't make any sense as SR doesn't crash in the way suggested with these edits. Did Neo actually add these notes?

Confused.

:o_O:

@Kelmych: I ran ddsopt to halve the size of the normals. However, this had no effect on the stability issues.

Even with the normal flory overhaul mods VRAM now stays below 3000 having run ddsopt on Skyrim HD and Serious HD to shrink the normals.

I experimented with changing ugridstoload settings from 5 to 7 with various mod combinations - this has also made no difference. Strange. I think I'm going to do some sequential stress testing by removing other mods which make graphics changes.

Do not read too much into how much VRAM you actually use, this number will always be high since the game actually stores textures in the memory even if you do not actually use them right now... but it helps reduce stuttering if you are going back to an area you where in previously.

When you say it is not stable then for how long can you play ? 1h, 2h or just 15 mins? If you can play more then 1 hour and run about the world then an SR configuration is "stable" due to the excessive amount of stuff put in. (When I say run I mean you can actually run from one major city to the next and do a cave or dungeon on the way.) Also if you save your game while you play, exit to menu and reload then you will force the game to flush the RAM usage and you can play for longer, if the CTD is related to RAM issues and not a bug or such in the mod list.

Also it is not recommended to ever run with ugrids=7 with SR... the game engine just cannot handle it since it would almost always require that you run the game at the RAM max limit. Even more so if you use Skyrim flora overhaul alone and left out everything else.
