Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Well, DynDOLOD could eliminate the need for any LOD mods like SDO, and even SkyMills. It also uses the textures in your data folder to generate the LOD atlas textures, so Vivid would get used.

I think a guide for those two might be in order.

Agreed, it has amazing potential.

I updated version number for ruffled feather - I hope that's ok.

a quality world map still says it overrides enhanced distant terrain 2

Thanks for the report, feel free to update EDT2 to The Ruffled Feather in the override list (generally put them in alphabetical order).

Neo, for aMidianborn Solsteim Landscape you advise to not install certain texture files. I understand the reason for not installing files that you'd rather have High Resolution DLC handle, but isn't it pointless to remove textures to be handled by Serious HD since Serious HD is loaded after aMidianborn Solsteim Landscape? I realize this is potAYto/potAHto, but for the sake of continuity could I revise those Special Installation Instructions? (By continuity I mean that while installing all of the other mods in your guide, it does not appear that you normally advise to not install any files that will eventually be overridden by other mods.)

Hello Neo, I understand you are very busy and I am certain you have your own TODO list :)

So only as a reminder for whenever, two older posts which may or may not need your advice.

post #4343 (relighting Skyrim is currently at 4.0)

and while I'm at it: can I add the STEP 2.2.9 Skyrim Realistic Overhaul warning to your guide (the warning about which download button should be clicked)?

and also a note about Tony's current Optimized Textures files (of which some are redundant and also that, if using his files, the official HRTP's should not be removed because his HRTP's don't include all of the files)?

(I might as well ask all at once instead of one at a time - try to save you some time :;): )

I'm using Tony's and they seem fine, though I'm not sure what you mean by calling them redundant.  They are overriding the HRTP, as shown in MO, and get overridden by other mods in my load order.  If the optimized textures are below the Unmanaged lines in MO I don't know how it's possible that they are getting overridden by the vanilla textures.

Tony's 5.0 DG HF & DB files are made redundant by the official HRTP's, so they are just wasting space. and his HRTP's do not contain every file from the official HRTP's, so deleting your official HRTP's will remove about 1000 hi res texture files that Tony's HRTP's don't cover.

Ah, I see what you mean now.  That doesn't seem to be how you were describing the problem before.  I think most all of my optimized vanilla textures are getting overridden by other mods anyway.

I really like how Vivid Landscapes has changed the LOD's and the landscape.  It looks amazing now, especially bc of the Skyfalls-SDO LOD.  Personally, however, I hate how the regular terrain textures look now with parallax enabled.  They're all distorted.  I found a couple of mods last night that do a great job of adding terrain parallax throughout the rest of Skyrim:

Tamu75 Terrain Parallax

Skyrim 2015 Parallax Terrain

Zerwas1's Skyrim 2015 covers most everything and look amazing but, of course, they're in 4k so they're needlessly large.  I used the Ordenador to quickly and easily cut them in half and they still look amazing throughout the game.

Well I knew what I meant.... :P

Yes, a lot are. Just figured it'd save some people some space on their SSD's if they need it. :)
