danielleonyett
so I see that NEO actually has a link to the optimized textures mod - I don' t remember seeing that previously, I had always just used them anyway. but since it's in the guide then I guess I can ask my question here (I had posted my issue on the mod but have yet to receive a response). anyway, has anyone noticed that the 3 major dlc files from that mod are redundant according to MO? danielleonyett
I noticed I had my skyrimprefs.ini iRadialBlurLevel=2., when Vividian says it should be iRadialBlurLevel=1 What is it supposed to be set at for SRLE? (what difference does it make?)hey, did anyone answer this? I did a quick google search "what is radial blur". found a before and after pic. but i think it's only applied during combat. I would guess that a setting of 2 would make it more blurry. Link to comment

I installed each one as separate mods: optimized textures for skyrim, dawnguard, hearthfires, dragonborn, hrtp1, hrtp2, and hrtp3. in MO, the optimized textures dawnguard, hearthfires, and dragonborn all show as redundant (initially covered by official hrtp's, then also partially covered by optimized hrtp's once they are installed). I've dl'ed the files a couple of times and still get the same results (thought maybe I had a bad dl or something). Oh yeah, one important note - I have the official hrtp's unpacked so maybe this is why I am seeing the redundancy where others are not. Edited March 9, 2015 by danielleonyett Link to comment

But if you have the official hrtp unpacked, it will take preference over tony's, You should uninstall the official hrtp and install tony's. Link to comment

danielleonyett
Reposting this since I had so many edits. If i'm not wrong, You're supposed to completly replace the official hrtp bsa with tony's. But if you have the official hrtp unpacked, it will take preference over tony's, You should uninstall the official hrtp and install tony's.If you uninstall the official HRTP's and only use Tony's then it seems that you will lose a bunch of HRTP textures (about 1000 en total) because Tony's 5.0 files don't contain every single file (as evidenced by looking at the folders in explorer). Official HRTP1 (unpacked) = 1214 filesTony's HRTP1 (unpacked) = 1045 files And there is more than a 400-file difference for HRTP2 and an almost 400-file difference for HRTP3. However, I think if you were to optimize the official textures yourself and have DDSOpt set to "Copy unprocessed and ignored files (passthrough)", then I believe the folders would match texture-for-texture and you could then delete the HRTP bsa's without losing any hi-res textures. Tony can't legally include those "unprocessed and ignored files" in his mod so if you delete your official HRTP's then you're losing those files (which, of course, is inconsequential if they are later provided by another mod). Yes, I understand about loose files getting priority over bsa's, but a mod contains the same files whether in a bsa or loose, no? So the reason I brought up that I had unpacked my bsa's was because of MO and how it compares files: when I install Tony's DG HF & DB bsa's (and keep them as bsa's) then MO doesn't show ANY conflicts and we can go on (wrongly) assuming that there are texture files in there that are being used by our game (but we know that all of those textures are overriding others and some are also probably being overridden by other mods). But when I UNPACK Tony's DG HF & DB bsa's, then MO shows their conflicts and (in fact) shows that they are made COMPLETELY redundant by my official HRTP's (which are also unpacked). So, to test for yourselves: unpack your official HRTP2 and unpack Tony's HF bsa. This will allow MO to compare texture file per texture file and show their conflicts, and you should see that his HF files are redundant according to MO. If you were to do this with Tony's DG & DB files and your HRTP3, then you should have the same results. So it's pointless to install them even if you keep them in bsa form (especially if they are just taking up space on an SSD). And I do want to note that I did the exact same thing with Tony's 4.1 files (unpacked them and MO compared them to my unpacked HRTP's) and Tony's 4.1 files were not completely redundant, so it seems as though these new files contain fewer textures. (I have commented on the mod author's page regarding this issue but he has not been active in the past few days so I am still waiting). Edited March 10, 2015 by danielleonyett Link to comment

I'm still working on the guide anyway, so I can wait for that :) Link to comment
statmonster
So um - Who is LOST and what are all the revisions he just made to the guide? Especially the one that said "aMidianBorn_ContentAddon.esp gets deleted - so these steps are redundant" Link to comment
statmonster
Note the sneaky update to one of the Vivid Landscapes patches. Vivid Landscapes - Tundra Ground from Skyrim HD 2k 2.8 was first loaded on 3/7 or so and then uploaded again on 3/9. The first version downloads a 5989 KB file called Vivid Landscapes - Tundra Ground from Skyrim HD in 2k-49344-2-8.7z. The second downloaded a 9890 KB file called Vivid Landscapes - Tundra Ground from Skyrim HD 2k-49344-2-8.7z. The second one has two additional folders in it called "lod" and "terrain". Given the timing of his updates I don't think Neo used the second larger version - it might be worth checking whether this is worthwhile. Link to comment
