Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi, this might be something that is often asked.. but I haven't really paid much attention to the in game animations of drawing/sheathing with different combinations of weapons. So far I mostly did combat in first person after following the guide. I have installed the skeleton, immersive animations and dual sheath redux exactly like mentioned and have run all patchers correctly.

After the recent skeleton update I got a bit confused by the interaction between racemenu and XPMS. I got the placement of weapons sorted out eventually and started playing around with drawing/sheathing different weapons in 3rd person for a bit. That's where I really got confused..

I noticed that having a sword in your right hand and a dagger in your left gave you the animation of getting 2 swords from your back. This isn't very disturbing, but after that I tried different combinations. A sword in your right hand and a staff in your left places both weapons at the same angle on your back when you sheathe them.. which I thought was slightly weird. Animations don't seem to be consistent: for example just having a sword in your right hand and nothing in your left plays the right animation for sheathing the sword on your back. However, having a sword in your left hand and no weapon in your right hand plays a very funky animation where your sword magically appears in your left hand after doing a flip. A staff magically appears from your back in your hand most of the time too..

So as you can see I never really put much time into understanding how mods like DSR, animations (and skeleton mods?) work together, could someone enlighten me here? Does the right animation only play if you have the proper weapon in your right (main) hand? And do you need to reinstall immersive animations/DSR with other options if you want a slightly different weapon setup?

I feel like everyone understands this by now but me, lol.

The right hand weapon determines animation (period). Left hand is not taken into account by the engine. So there is one animation for each weapon type and it is determined by your right hand equipped weapon.

Ah, thanks. Just read the Immersive Animations description page which pretty much makes it clear too. Should have done that sooner :/ I wonder if there are there any mods that attempt to circumvent this in a creative way .. I've read about 'Character Behaviours Enhanced', but I don't think their work includes draw/sheathe animations. Too bad I guess

What can you do when you already created the SR Conflicting.eps but decided to delete some of the mods later? The SR Conflicting.eps will have some missing masters. Do I need to recreate the WHOLE conflicting eps or can I just change it up somehow such that the change related to the deleted mod is undone?

You can make a copy of any mod in your load order, rename the copy to be the same as the missing ESP, use TES5EDIT to go into SR Conflict Resolution.esp, remove those records (and the Master dependency), run the TES5EDIT Sort Masters option and then save the SR Conflict Resolution. Once you have removed the dummy renamed ESP, you should be fine.

Ah thanks I'm gonna try that later.

For now I have this weird bug: Whenever I walk around in 3rd person and press D to strafe to the right, the camera turns upside-down and I will look towards the back of my character (whatever is behind me). As if the camera is rotating 180 degrees forward. Has anyone experienced this before and does anyone know what the problem is here? So far I've only modded until the "Basic Needs and Survival" section of the guide, following everything to the letter.

Update 1: I have done some backtracking, enabling and disabling mods to find the source of the problem. And it seems to be occurring when I enable the UNP Blessed Body Redux Project mod, which is weird because it contains nothing more than meshes and texture (?).

Update 2: I may have accidentally selected 360 Directions instead of Default Direction. Re-installing now to see if this will fix the problem.

Update 3: Re-installed, using the nude selections this time. Problem still occurs. I tried to re-run FNIS, the problem is still occurring. I am out of ideas to try now. The problem is definitely caused by the UNP Blessed Body Redux Project mod, since disabling this mod will fix the problem. However, after several clean installations of this mod, including a re-run of FNIS, does not seem to have fixed the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting, did you install the animations section directly afterwards as well already? I saw a few old posts from 2013 declaring this problem with UNPB and it was the animations included in the installer. I however do not suffer the problem with the selections in the guide... hrm. I did using the natural breasts 360 option though which is why I changed. For giggles try selecting the other option instead of natural motion.

This time I re-installed using the 360 breasts option and I still have the same issue when strafing to the right. However, this introduced a similar bug when walking backwards with S. The camera is then pointed towards my character (which is a woman by the way) as normal, while she walks towards the camera (as expected). But the camera flips around in intervals for brief moments, similar to the problem when walking to the right. But this time it's only in intervals and not a constant thing.

I also have installed the animations section (I installed up to the sound section of the guide), ran FNIS and all the other skyproc patchers. Initially I thought the problem was caused by a combination of one of the animation mods and UNPB. However, disabling everything from UNPB and on-wards does not get rid of the problem. Whereas enabling everything I have installed so far, but disabling UNPB, does get rid of the problem. So the problem certainly lies with UNPB. And it is most likely related to some of the animations of that mod since the meshes or textures aren't really able to cause something like this I imagine.

I can also try to pick the regular breast motion by XP32, to see if that changes anything.

Update 1: Picking XP32's regular breast motion instead of DarkAngel1265's natural breast motions seems to have fixed the problem. However, as far as I can remember I have never had this problem in the past, even though I used DarkAngel1265's motion instead. However, back then I was using a male character so maybe the problem does not occur when you are playing a male character. I will be playing a male character for this playthrough as well though, I just happen to be using a save game with female character for testing.

Guys, I was just going through the guide again, and have a question about the Creation Kit.

Not so much a question, I guess its more either an observation, or a misunderstanding.

Is the Cretion Kit really needed for anything in SR:LE? As in, would the final outcome be somehow different if we were to leave out the Creation Kit altogether?

Not currently, it used to be due to some limitations of TES5Edit. Never hurts to have in case you want to mod something yourself though. Plus installing it gives you the source scripts to help investigate issues.

Ah, I see. Thanks, Neo. I'll go ahead and set it up then. :)

Swapped over the guide to the new and improved ELE version now hosted on the Nexus. This meant a big change in the CR Patch, make sure you review it and/or redownload it.

I don't play with Falskaar or Wyrmstooth, so I installed the new ELE_Legendary_Lite.esp rather than the ELE_Legendary_Fs_Wt_Lite.esp (which has Falskaar and Wyrmstooth as masters).  Unfortunately, the new CR Patch has the latter as its master.

Anyone know if I'm going to run into trouble if I just rename "ELE_Legendary_Lite.esp" to "ELE_Legendary_Fs_Wt_Lite.esp" to trick my game into using that esp?  It looks like all the CR entries modify worldspace and cell entries from the vanilla game... I don't see anything that references Falskaar or Wyrmstooth.

could someone please explain the relighting skyrim instructions for me?

an alternate download is given which only contains one esp, RelightingSkyrim-Full.esp

the instructions say that for the BOSS Masterlist Update RelightingSkyrim-Full.esp AFTER Relighting Skyrim.esp

yet no Relighting Skyrim.esp is provided

so am I to get Relighting Skyrim.esp from nexus, then?

thanks in advance
