Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Edit 1: Never mind, I found the problem.. It was in SKSE.ini:

This does not work:

[Memory]

Enabled=1
MemBlock1=768
MemBlock2=256

These work:

[Memory]

Enabled=1
MemBlock1=512
MemBlock2=256

and

[Memory]

MemBlock1=768
MemBlock2=256

So my question is... is it still "enabled" when the "enabled=1" is taken out?

and can anyone help me understand why its crashing out with "enabled=1" and "MemBlock1=768"?

I Don't see why skse would cause it to crash like that but that said it is an alpha....MemBlock1=512,MemBlock2=256 just makes it the default memory allocation. If you want to see if it works with Enabled=1 erased you can run the Memory blocks script. Alternately downgrade SKSE and use the SSME option instead.

Actually in Neo's guide he uses the following commands, i'm now actually unclear what the difference is (or if enabled is necessary)

[Memory]

DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768

ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

Neo is using SKSE 1.7alpha and those are the correct default values for that. Other versions of the Memory Patch use other settings.

I'm interested in knowing how many of you exits the game every time you die before you reload, and if you only save in interior cells? If you haven't done these things have you noticed any problems? I'm specifically talking about when you are running SR ofc

I run SL:LE minus Realistic Needs and Diseases (I find it tedious) though I do maintain a PURE SR:LE profile. On top of that I run a ton of scripted mods, usually well voiced follower mods, all populated lands mods, Interesting NPCs, inconsequestial NPCs, Helgren Reborn, Organized Bandits, Travilers of Skyrim, Civil War Overhaul, Cannibus Skyrim, Animated Prostitution, etc. and use RealVision ENB.  I use the Autosave Manager mod and save my games pretty much automatically and whenever/whereever I like. I do not exit the game and restart upon death. Ever since Sheson's Memory Patch, I can play pretty much without CTDs and freezes and now spend more time playing then modding or trying to fix the game. I have been following Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited (the original SR)  for over a year (it the reason I am here), including his 1st edition of SR:LE and now the current version. By doing so have I become somewhat an expert on using most of the tools used (before that I used Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). Before the Memory Patch came along, I was never able to play beyond killing the first dragon and only through suffering CTDs or game freezes every half hour (no fun at all). I no longer worry about optimizing textures (unless included in the SR:LE instructions), but I have a GTX680 with 4GB of VRAM. The only time I have run into CTDs (consistent ones) was the Shrine at Whiterun (turned out to be a bad mesh in Vivid Landscapes that the author since fixed) and a mod conflict between Helgrim Reborn and the Fight Against the Thalmor mods series (fixed by deactivating the series). I plan to deactiving Helgrim Reborn and then run the Fight and the Thalmor in my next play through. Needless to say I have a ton of NPCs in the game and tweeked BASH to have 60 active at any given time.

I'm basically a pure SR:LE with a few added features (mostly things Neo removed from the first version of SR:LE, like AV the werewolf/vampire stuff and a few animations and maybe a few of Isokus mods).  I only had to make a few changes to a compatibility patch and I too run Realvision.  Overall, im absolutely stable, even if I fly through Skyrim, and even incredibly if I load up old saves.

I was looking at Phinix ENB and it had this link.  In SRLE it says set disabledrivememorymanager=true if you have an AMD card. Tis site says  to set it to true if you have an AMD card. What is the correct answer and why?

https://www.iparadigm.org/pages/pnenb/ENBoost.html

Showing ENBoost settings for: 64-bit OS, AMD Video, 0-1GB VRAM
(Edit enblocal.ini to apply the correct settings.)

[MEMORY]
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true
DisableDriverMemoryManager=false
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=256

Good info, its so tedious to exit every time you die especially since I die all the time(using Requiem with SR). Think I'll start an experimental game and save where-ever I want without closing down between reloads.

Hey Neo,

Having doublechecked that I set up Mod Organizer according to your instructions, I still have to set "prefer" to Yes for the FOMOD installer to get Immersive Armors to install correctly. Otherwise I get like ... one ESP and that's it installed.

Not sure why that is if you aren't needing to do it, but just posting in case that was something that got left out accidentally. :)

Hey Neo,

What do you think of these tweaks for people with multicore CPUs? Will it improve the performance with your guide?

Multi-Core CPUs - These tweaks increase the power of a multi-core rig by multi-threading processes

In Skyrim.ini Add/Edit:

[backgroundLoad]
bBackgroundLoadLipFiles=1
bLoadBackgroundFaceGen=1
bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1
bBackgroundCellLoads=1
bLoadHelmetsInBackground=1
bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1
bUseBackgroundFileLoader=1

[Animation]
bMultiThreadBoneUpdate=1

[HAVOK]
iNumThreads=XX

[General]
bUseThreadedTempEffects=1
bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1
bMultiThreadMovement=1
bUseThreadedMorpher=1

[Decals]
bDecalMultithreaded=1

In SkyrimPrefs.ini Add/Edit:

[Navmesh]
bUseThreadedMeshes=1

[Trees]
bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1
bShadowMaskZPrePass=1

[backgroundLoad]
bBackgroundLoadLipFiles=1
bLoadBackgroundFaceGen=1
bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1
bBackgroundCellLoads=1
bLoadHelmetsInBackground=1
bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1

[General]
bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1
bUseThreadedBlood=1
bUseThreadedMorpher=1
bUseThreadedTempEffects=1
bUseThreadedTextures=1
bUseThreadedMeshes=1
bUseThreadedLOD=1
bUseThreadedAI=1
bUseThreadedMorpher=1

[Decals]
bDecalMultithreaded=1

For "iNumThreads" ( the XX value above) set this to the number of CPU cores your PC has. If you have 4 or more leave this as 5 (maximum).

Decreasing Script Lag - The scripting language used in Skyrim, Papyrus, is not the speediest of languages. Script queues can become lagged, and even halted, in a game using script-heavy mods. Using this tweak in my game even seemed to fix the lip synch problem that reared its ugly head again in the 1.9 update for Skyrim.

In Skyrim.ini add/edit:

[Papyrus]
fUpdateBudgetMS=800
fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=800
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000
iMinMemoryPageSize=256
iMaxMemoryPageSize=512
iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=2457600
