Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Two questions, shouldn't we be able to delete the textures.bsa since we have extracted its content just like the hr dlc bsas? also, wouldn't it be a good idea to use the "Repair the Vanilla HRDLC Textures" part from the DDSopt & Texture Overhauls Guide?

No, because there are still png files for book art and other stuff still in there that is not covered by the optimization. (purposefully so)

Excited about Vividian.

Just saw isoku's iNeed. Seems very interesting. Should we switch to it or keep RND? Not an easy question to answer it seems...

Looks interesting, will need to see how it develops over time. Not willing to "jump ship" so easily as RND has other features I like and more upcoming. I do like the SkyUI widget and follower needs tracking though... maybe RND can implement similar in time.

I installed Falskaar and then the DG compatibility patch. Should I choose to merge or replace the files? And what should I do if this happens again?

Ask an expert, but what i do, is rename the DLC compatibility patch and place it immediately after in the load order.

Would be nice if we get an answer to this question, as i am concerned as you if i did something wrong :P

Bug: The file Smart Souls.ini is not created when launched through Mod Organizer, a now standardized management tool.

Cause: SKSE plugins seemingly lack the ability to create files within the SKSE/ folder when launched within the virtualized folder structure. The exact reasoning is unknown to me.

Proposed Solution: Create the file by hand

  • While in Mod Organizer, right-click the Smart Souls mod on the left-hand side
  • Select the menu option Open in explorer
  • Within the new window, navigate into the SKSE\Plugins folder
  • Right-click within the folder and select the menu option New > Text Document
  • Name the file Smart Souls.ini (make sure you are showing File Extensions - click here to see how)
  • Open the new file and copy the below contents, pasting them into the file

    [General]
    ForceSoulSoulGemSizeMatch=1
    LimitBlackGemsToBlackSouls=1
    [Notifications]
    ShowCapturedSoulQuality=1
    ShowEscapedSoulQuality=1
  • Save and close the file

Thanks!

Updated mod notes with instructions and reflected update on the changelog.

Also, I think you should check this

Kalispera hellanios,

Any optional or patch you install to a mod's main file in MO (i.e. Falskaar main file), I would suggest to merge it.

That way, u avoid cluttering MO's mod list. Drawback is that when main file is updated u will have to re-install (merge again) the optional/patch etc.

Hope this helps!

Thanks adelfe. ;) A response from Neo or someone who knows well about MO would be great though.

Personally optionals I put into a

separate mod line but updates get merged. This just makes it easier if a main mod is updated but the optionals don't need updates but does clutter the interface some. It also helps keep track of what is all installed for options if I want to try disabling one.

I am working on a fresh install of SR: LE and I just wanted to drop a little feedback in here.

I came to a problem following the guide when I needed to use BUM to write rules for overriding during the Unofficial Patches installation. I could never see them in the right pane. I ended up having to use the .txt that is linked as a suggestion in the BOSS Recognized Plugins tab.

It is entirely possible I just missed something or did not install BUM correctly. Looking back at the Prerequisites section of the guide, you never link to the MO - Third Party Programs section for installing this correctly, perhaps you might like to.

Even after following this though, I was never able to see the Unofficial Dawnguard, Unofficial Hearthfire, or Unofficial Dragonborn patches in BUM.

They are there, they are just not listed as Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp. They are covered in blue like this:

IF VAR(USKP20) MOD: Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp (Similary for the other unofficial patches)

Which is basically the same thing, just with an if-statement attached to it. You have to right click on these blue lines and select Create Override to override the rule as listed in the guide.
