Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

I am working on SR:LE and I am determined! I have reached the point of enb installation. Unreal Cinema is too much for my system. How do I proceed while still using this guide?

Should I use a different enb preset, skip the enb section, or is there a way to install enb, with no preset at all.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, if you need more information to answer let me know.

Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 3.4ghz

Memory: 12gb

Video Cards NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 2mb ddr5

Hard Drive (OS): 120GB SSD

Hard Drive (Data): 1 TB

OS: Win7 Professional x64

Try turning off functions in the ENB - DoF, some of the AA, etc. If that doesn't work get a lighter weight ENB (or even one that has no visual effect and just implements the stability changes). It seems the ENB (but not the particular preset) is critical for the stability fixes all those mods will require. At least that's my impression.

Hey, thanks a lot for your reply, I am working on it now.  I found this

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12180/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D12180%26preview%3D&pUp=1

but it didn't install enbhost.exe which SR:LE mentions and I think there are changes ini files to boost the effectiveness of enbhost.  Also, its a different enb binary, that might mess things up for me later in the guide as well.

Can anyone let me know

a) specific instructions on how to "turn off" dof, ssao, ssil for unreal cinema

b) what is an example of an enb preset that can be substituted in for unreal cinema, that works well with the rest of the guide

sorry for the questions, I go and try to do my own experimentation, but when I see variables that don't line up with the guide, I worry.

Final question, and then i'm off to bed.

Clarification on:

Special Installation: Do not install the following file(s) and/or folder(s):

Main File

Falskaar1.1.2ReadMe.txt

Dawnguard Plugin

FalskaarDawnguard1.0.0ReadMe.txt

Correct me if i'm wrong on the process: download manually, extract, delete the files

Falskaar1.1.2ReadMe.txt and FalskaarDawnguard1.0.0ReadMe.txt

compress into an archive, and get MO to install the files that way.

Thx Neo. I don't use Unreal ENB so I skipped that part... :P

Its OK, we can't all have good taste.... I kid I kid. Been trying out some of the popular presets out there lately and still keep coming back. Gone through Phinix and Somber recently.

I really must applaud you for your taste, because Unreal Cinema is one of, if not thee best preset I've used as far as balancing looks with performance and least amount of tweaking needed.

I did some lite testing with a half-finished SR:LE build and Confidence Man's new Natural Lighting and Atmospherics ENB preset and weather plugin (removed CoT but kept ELFX), and the results were astounding as far as real world lighting goes. Fire/lighting was a little brownish and soft, overall definitely not as contrasting or atmospheric as Unreal Cinema. But it does produce very nice, blue skies and true ambient/indirect lighting. I highly recommend it.

I'll post some pics in a few

Ojack I highly recommend you check out JawZ's Guide to ENB:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/39742/?

Just download the PDFs, open them and then ctrl+F to search whatever you want to change, it will basically describe exactly which settings apply to it and how it affects the visuals, with pictures as examples.

It helped me understand ENB a lot. I recommend this because some things have multiple settings to adjust, and when dealing with ENBs it's usually about how it looks/performs on YOUR personal computer, so tweaking is almost essential. Also, ENB is very complicated and changing one thing can have wild affects in other ways...

If you don't want to do any tweaking at all then I suggest just trying different presets until you find the right one. Don't be too afraid to try others, you basically want one that says it's compatible with CoT (because some presets come with their own custom set of weather parameters). CoT and ELFX support are the main things you're looking for when choosing an ENB preset for this guide (Neo would know best of course).

Just be sure to FULLY uninstall ALL ENB related files before switching to a different preset; I highly recommend removing it fully and then running the game regular before attempting to install another preset, or else visuals could be wildly affected.

It's much simpler. Download mod using MO, begin to install mod using MO, when installing click the data to expand it, uncheck the things you don't want above, finishing installing.

Solsteim texture modifications added, I'm very happy with the results thus far! :)

Just some random screens from tonight, not all in Solsteim:

I hope everyone is enjoying the guide and getting epic results!

Those look great! I can't wait to get to Solstheim if that's how it's gonna look. :D

And while I'm at it ... a huge thanks for this guide, and setting it up AS A GUIDE. The stuff I've learned from this has given me so much more confidence/understanding of mods and how they work than I ever had before. I know I'd have been way too intimidated to learn TES5Edit even a little before.

-raises a glass to Neo- :)

Those look fantastic, at least someone is keeping the Unreal Orange Train alive! :p

Where did all those Solsthiem plants come from?

Before you know it you'll be reading this manual and doing all kinds of crazy things.

I also use your new guide to some extent. I've added several new mods myself and implemented the new memory patch and it works like a charm. Of course I optimized all textures (excluding armor/weapon and some other trivial ones) to 1024 and 512 normals and with Somber ENB (I didn't really like Unreal Cinema one) I manage to get 50+ fps outdoors but 45+ indoors. That's weird :P

The only thing I have difficulty understanding is the conflict resolution fixes you mention. How do I create the new SR conflict resolution.esp you mention? Can I simply drag the entries in the respective conflicting mods?

I tried Somber ENB (not Lut Sepia) and found it to be worse performance wise in the places I tested. Also, I honestly hated the look. Just personal taste perhaps but I had to uninstall it after an hour, couldn't take it anymore lol.

When you do your first edit and select "Copy as Override into..." select "" and it will prompt you for a name.

Don't know why, but I'm in a huge image mood tonight! In other news, got two Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD's coming on Saturday... my current SSD only has about 3GB space left. Need to feed the modding beast!
