Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

You can try opening enbseries.ini and and change the value of anything with "*Quality=" to 2.

Disable SSAO. There is almost no difference with it on or off most of the time with Unreal. You'll gain about 5fps.

I also disabled Skylightning because I heard it hurt the FPS and I don't really see the difference on or off.

And make sure all the AntiAliasing setting in your enblocale.ini are set to false.

With these tweak I run at about 40-50 in exterior and 50-60 in interior.

Without the tweak I would be around 30-40 in exterior and sometime even drop below 30 in fights.

What is the exact setting to disable SSAO.  There seemed to be several lines with it when I looked last time..

Also, what is it supposed to do?

You can either do it through the enbseries.ini or in-game via shift-enter by setting EnableAmbientOcclusion to false or unchecking it.

SSAO give shadow to pretty much anything in the world and make the object blend together with the world. In some ENB it's pretty obvious when you turn this on or off but with Unreal most of the time there's really not that much of a difference so in my opinion it's not worth the performance loss. The best way to see what it does is turning it on and off in-game via shift-enter.

When I start the game via Live Another Life and Choose the Companion start the NPCs (Whiterun Guards to be specific) will not put their shields on their back as they should from DSR. The PC will do so. However, if I choose any other start then guards will put their shields on their back (including Whiterun guards if I start in Breezehome).

Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions for how to cure it? Is there something in the Companions Quest that bugs DSR shields for NPCs? (Maybe the early quest to fetch Aela's shield? Did Arthmoor modify this quest if you choose a Companion start to prevent other bugs and that has spillover affects on all NPC shields? No idea - just reaching here.)

From the Important Notes section of DSR:

"In order to avoid the "Brawl Bug", the NPC affecting portion of this mod is disabled both during normal brawls and during the initial stage of the Companions quest line (Fight Vilkas in the yard). If you leave Vilkas hanging the mod will remain disabled until you complete that stage."

As I said two days earlier, I have some random CTD close to Whiterun.

I finally have a quicksave leading to a CTD a few seconds after after the launch, every time. I have tracked which mod causes this CTD and the winner is SIC; I mean even with a vanilla game and just this mod, the CTD occurs.

Any idea of the problem I have?

I have taken the carriage from Windhelm to Whiterun, and when I wake up at the end (carriage touring mod), a few seconds later occurs the CTD. I am thus close to the stable. However no idea of what SIC wants to spawn, but I doubt that the reason is too much stuff or scripts.

Edit: My last test consists in loading the save with the full SR without SIC and the 2 compatiblity patches associated (enhanced blood et CCO): no CTD.

Neo has indicated that Touring carriages sometimes causes an issue. Do you get the same issue if you just take a non-Touring Carriage?

BTW, are you spawning extra NPCs? What is the weather like? I think that many scripts that want to apply affects on each NPC, the effective weight is the product of the number of such scripts you are running times the number of NPCs it has to act on, so adding more NPCs and script mods geometrically increases the load.

However, given the issue Neo has noted with TC, I suspect your issue is related to a bug in that mod and not trying to do too much and crashing the game under the weight of everything.

Touring carriages was the first mod I suspected to cause the CTD^^. However, in this case it seems to be innocent: loading the save without Touring carriages lead to the same CTD after a few seconds.

The weather is correct, a bit cloudy but no rain or snow. And the configuration of SIC, it is as specified in the guide (purist preset).
