Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Well, looks like all I do is complain about different issues :D

Finally managed to set up my game the way I want it.Since my GPU is RadeonHD 6850 with only 1gb of VRam and my system has 4GB of Ram (CPU is AMD Phenom II X4 at 3.2GHz) I went with performance options whenever possible and used DDSopt to optimize everything I could for maximum performance. In addition I used the Performance version of RealVision ENB.

Now the visual aspect of the game is where I want it to be and under normal conditions my FPS is 45-60 indoors and 25-45 outdoors.

The problem I have is when entering or exiting a building (tested it in Whiterun), normaly in Whiterun I have 0 stutter and 25-30 FPS, but once I enter and exit the Inn for example, I start getting a lot of stutter and my FPS drops to 10-15 and in 60% cases the game CTDs.

This is probably related to hardware but still, if anyone has a suggestion how to fix this issue let me know.

Well I would not advise an ENB even if it is "performance" I think on average (don't quote me) ENB uses (reserves) 200mb of VRAM so you'd probably be pushing it with Skyrim HD 2k Lite. I know I was when I had my old laptop (have to check some of my first posts on this forum). I also don't think you'll be able to use alot of the texture recommendations from Skyrim Revisited as you have such limited RAM. I'd imagine you're using about 1GVB of that for your OS so you'd likely only have 3GB to play with (at best and without anything else running)

It means Neovalen reformatted his computer and is taking this opportunity to trim down Skyrim Revisited and add texture settings' date=' make some edits here and there etc.[/quote']

This. Basically the original guide is there for people to use as is. Will not be updated further.

I've started work on the new version, estimate a 3-4 weeks for that to become "ready". Mean time, play and enjoy the game! Feedback on high level game play is always appreciated.

This is a great point actually. I recently took a character up to about level 50, and started to find problems where there had been none in the same areas at the start of the game. Clearly as your save grows organically, some instability can start to show up that you couldn't detect before. I'm not sure how to go about testing this is an efficient way though, there's just no way to get your save sufficiently complex without simply putting in a bunch of hours.

Also, since SR was frozen (and as I haven't been inclined to keep up with mod updates myself) I've found I've managed to play far more hours :turned:

Honestly, I'm not sure at this point which I enjoy more: the process of finely tuning my game to be exactly how I want, or actually playing the end result! I may have a problem.... ;)

Regarding gameplay at high levels, I still find that a mage is not as viable as a melee character (specially against dragons). I was actually looking at mods like Apocalypse (spells), Better/Balanced/Empowered/Migthy magic (magic overhauls), but I still have not decided which of them will be definitive in my load order. Just my two cents.

I've used mighty magic. And was happy. Mages are powerful with it. As they should be.

I use Empowered magic and it works nicely too imo. I decided on that since back when I put them in then empowered had dragonborn support. Also it is only 3 .esp... mighty magic has a ... mighty large number of them to produce similar effects.
