Question

Posted

I answer a lot of questions in the comments (and when I can't answer them I refer users to STEP)... some one posted this (comment) with a statement of "recieving a warning when running FNIS":

NIS Behavior V6.3 6/28/2016 10:25:41 PM Skyrim: 1.9.32.0 - C:\Program Files (x86)\TSEV Skyrim LE\ Skeleton(hkx) female: Default (99 bones) male: Default (99 bones) Patch: "GENDER Specific Animations" Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix" Reading FNISCreatureVersion V6.1 ... Reading FNISSpells V5.0.1 ( 0 furniture, 0 offset, 9 paired, 0 kill, 0 chair, 0 alternate animations) ... All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files.... No GENDER directory male 16 GENDER modifications for Animations\female 0_master usage: 3.8 % ( 9 paired, 0 kill, 0 alternate animations) Alternate Animation mods: 0 sets: 0 total groups: 0 added file slots: 0 alternate files: 0 Create Creature Behaviors ... 94 animations for 2 mods successfully included (character) 1 Warning(s).

is the TSEV Skyrim LE executable in the top line a cracked .exe?

I couldn't find dinfinitive information on this anywhere and I wanted to make sure it wasn't a game disc .exe or something that I just haven't heard about. I state in the video in 2 places to not waste peoples time with cracked version question, that cracked versions are not supported and if this is a cracked version of the game either this person didn't watch the video or didn't care. I don't spend 100's of hours creating these videos and posting warnings to for my health lol. I don't want to block and ban someone's account from GP due to me not having the proper information but I've banned people for less lol

Im pretty sure that the LE PC version is only distributed on steam.

There were a few early versions of the original game that were not though.

I also think steam's games directory has several hard coded folders like steamapps and common.

In other words, I think it is.

That was my gut instinct. The only thing that came up with the TSEV line was on a forum where someone said something like "Let's just say that I didn't purchase my game on Steam". lol If people want to get cracked games, so be it. But to either not watch the video or not heed the explicit warning and then try to get someone to troubleshoot something for them when it was specifically stated not too... sort of rubs me the wrong way lol. Anyways.. thanks man = )

No, you can install Steam games in their own locations, they don't have to be in the Steam folders. They do have to be installed on a different drive from the one Steam is on, though.

It's a bit hard to say with this, because you could install Steam on the E drive and your games on the C drive, but I'd definitely err on the side of caution and say it's probably pirated. The folder name definitely looks like something that was more pirated than a custom name someone set.

Thanks for your input as well. I know it may seem silly that a youtuber cares that much about 1 comment or viewer but I work extremely hard to provide an environment both free of trolls (for the others who comment) and free of BS in any form. I rather have less viewers and more quality people "around".

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Looking back on some videos this particular person was actually pretty "kind" and encouraging so I may send a private message to him/her, explain my take on things and just remove the comment depending on the response that I get. But that... is for another day lol I'm going to sleep.

Fore has a couple methods of determining whether the games were cracked besides the install directory. I have seen him state as much on his Nexus posts page. I'm guessing it is something in the error logs, but I'm not sure.

The man offers a ridiculous amount of support for his tool, but he absolutely refuses to help those who have cracked games. The responses can be pretty entertaining. :-D

I don't think Steam is allowed in every country so games have to just come out the old fashioned way on one of those flat circular discs all the old people talk about.

You mean the optical thingy that movies used to come on? I still have one of those in my computer, but I haven't used it in several years so I'm not sure it still works.
