General Computer Nonsense

Slightly off-topic question: nVidia or AMD? I know there's no easy answer here, just want opinions as I decide which vcard to upgrade to. I've got an AMD 7800 2gb that's just barely cutting it for me.

Whenever someone asks me to get them a new GPU, I always use this site to get the current best bang for their budget.

How much you looking to spend?

I'm currently debating about parting with my 970 strix and getting a 980ti, I may be able to offer a good price but it'll have to be through some sort of third party

I am thinking exactly the same replacing my GTX970 strix with a GTX980ti

but then again pascal GPU will be out soon so might wait

How old is it?

uhh, not that old. I'll see if I dig up the packing slip

EDIT: wow, March 30th 2015, man the time passes quickly

I'm also waiting to see how the new Pascal GPUs do. Apparently the first batch 1070 and 1080 will have GDDR5 Vram with 8GB for the 1080. The HBM VRAM will be available on the second batch and will feature 16GB-32GB of VRAM. That's when I'll probably replace my GPU. No idea how much it's gonna cost though...

Thanks for moving the posts. :)

So it's a year old. Much thought. How long do GPU's usually last? I've had mine for about 3 years so far. I guess that's pretty good.

How much do you want for it?

sent ya a pm. As for life, I wouldnt know, usually fans go out long before anything else but since these cards are "0db" (I hate that name), the fans shut off when the card is below 65C which is a majority of the time.
