  1. To be clear I have NOT used or tested the current version of the guide. My last install was the August 18th version. Looking at it tho looks like its a step back performance wise not a step forward. My FPS in most areas weren't bad. 40 to 50 with drops to 30s in intense scenes. I did have quite a few combat ctds tho that I believe were memory related. Played that save for 29 hours. Guide was installed exactly as written with NO deviation except the performance tweaks already mentioned. What are your system specs? Where's your mod list? No offense but i dont believe some of you guys because my experience says otherwise. with old guide i was hitting over 3GB regularly.....so something doesnt add up. did i mention i reduced texture sizes lol
  2. The authors system specs don't mean it requires these specs. If it does mean that then clearly state that in the guide. I use performance version of ENB with extra features turned off and majority of 1k textures with LOW dyndolod. I like the mod list.....I've said that many times if I didn't I wouldn't be here. It just needs tweaked so that it isn't targeting the 10 percent of users with super computers. Some of us actually want to play the game and not get 20 fps and tons of combat ctds Have a nice day
  3. Look at my PC specs. I don't consider that low or medium. But the guide is setup currently so that it requires a 980ti or better plus Windows 7 to run. It's overkill. And the textures aren't even the problem. It's all the tree and grass mods. EVT and SFO add a TON to vram usage and are a big hit. I don't care if I take heat for this.
  4. My guess would be the new landscape mods. I thought they were redoing it to improve performance but it looks like its twice as performance heavy now. :( I know..we will remove enhanced landscapes and add in even more trees and more grass...that should help lol. The most performance instensive VRAM demanding things we can think of. Lets make it so only windows 7 users with super computers can use this. (sarcasm) I am having second thoughts about even installing this again. WAAY too overboard on the landscape stuff. I havent tested the new updates yet tho. But my last install was the august 18th guide and riverwood was a rough area.
  5. I use windows 10 and latest Nividia drivers without any issues. My windows 10 is the latest anniversary update build 1607. Previous version worked as well tho. Also use the latest ENB binary......so its something on your end.
  6. In my nividia control panel i set AA and AF to application controlled and use the AA and AF from ENB. That is what SRLE advises to do. As far as what setting to use for AF just experiment and see what looks best in your game. I personally would keep it around 8x at least.
  7. yeah the stagger lock is stupid. With the full LoTD install tho i didnt find combat overly hard. Just wasnt a fan of the stagger. A wolf catching you off guard can stagger lock and kill you. Requiem is still harder than the full LoTD install. Have to say coming from requiem and trying other things really shows that nothing compares.
  8. Dont know if your aware...... but with the slider at zero UNP and UNPB are the same. The difference comes when you increase the weight.
  9. I only have one 240gb SSD. If skyrim is all you play and have installed it will be fine. Depending on how many mods you install you can even have 2-3 other games installed as well. Its really all user dependant. Everyone has different uses for their PC. I dont store pictures or videos or have any other games installed at the moment so space isnt a concern for me. If you have the disc rolling back to windows 7 is easy. Just ignore the forced update to windows 10. To really benefit from windows 7 tho you need a card with 4GB or more of VRAM. Otherwise its a waste of time. You wont notice the difference.
  10. yeah i dont know where you are in the guide but it will most definitely have you over your VRAM limit no matter what you do. I am reinstalling and just finished the vanilla item retextures and tweaks section. Again i reduced texture sizes wherever possible (all 1k for landscape and most clutter) - (2k -1k for clothes and armor) and i just tested with SPM and my VRAM peaked around 2900 and averaged 2400 or so. Again thats with optimized textures and choosing 1k instead of 2k Your best bet is to just use the guides as a guideline and or reference and pick and choose what you want to lighten VRAM load. From my testing so far BY FAR the mod with the biggest VRAM hit is skyrim flora overhaul. It increased my VRAM usage by around 400mb.
  11. Yes. Thats what i do and with only 2GB i would definitely recommend you do the same. The visual difference is hardly noticeable. Monitor your VRAM usage with skyrim performance monitor. Completely agree. There are a couple posters who claim to run these guides on weaker cards but i dont really buy it just based on my own experience. I have a 970 and reduced texture sizes wherever possible and with the FULL LoTD installed i was peaking around 3.3 So the guys claiming that i think are full of crap. You need a 4GB card to use these guides. At least if you actually wanna play and enjoy the game not just have a pretty mod list to stare at. Also i have installed SRLE - Base about 4 times now and it usually takes me about 3 days to install. I dont have the focus to blast through in a day working on it all day lol. I installed both SRLE and SRLE LoTD over the course of a week......took me all night almost just doing all the merges alone for LOTD......lots and lots of work......
  12. SRLE base and especially extended definitely require some previous experience. They use a lot of advanced methods and pretty much every tool out there. When installing base just do EXACTLY as the guide says and take your time. Use the integration guide from extended as a reference (particularly on what to merge and not to merge). If confused or unsure about any steps just use Rons videos as a reference. He covers most of the complicated stuff and majority of it is still applicable. Take your time and dont rush. Definitely test as you go. With or without guide i always tell people to test test test. One thing you might want to watch tho is your VRAM. 2gb i dont think is gonna be enough. After installing SFO in the base guide i was already hitting over 2gb peak....averaging around 1.5 usage. And that is using all 1k textures.
  13. If anyone tries to install this entire guide on a 3gb card they will have issues. My 970 is strecthed to the limit and i reduced A LOT of things. I am regularly around 3.3.....accroding to SPM. using lower resolution LOD. 1k for noble and vivid landscapes. Low dyndolod. also reduced some ENB settings. also for the stonewall textures i used lower res options for those than what the guide recommends.
  14. Yeah, tempting as it is i actually wanna play the game. I finished installing this on the 18th and now im quite a bit outdated already....oh well. too much work to update and start new characters constantly. plus you never make any progress. not too mention takes 30 mins to setup the MCMs. screw updating Ill update once im done with current character. (level 23 mage at the moment) using sofia as a follower and i really like her btw. Like how i can customize her combat style. made her a mage also. only issue is her randomly stripping naked. I still get crashes sometimes in combat but i have managed to reduce them. havent noticed any major bugs or anything so far during this playthrough. loading game this morning it was ctding loading the save....rebuilding all patches including scripts for dyndolod fixed it.
  15. The guide is great. Its like a complete overhaul gameplay wise. For me neos base guide was missing many gameplay elements (which is why i never bothered using it until rencetly) I did use it as a general guideline tho. I only recently heard about extended and once i looked over the mods it sold me on installing it. And i totally understand your time constraints and also as the author of the guide you constantly have to tweak and change things based on user feedback and issues. But for me as a user i wanted an "extreme mod list" but also to play the game. So i cant keep up with the updates. I will just rebuild once im done with this character.
  16. Thats my issue too. Also why ive decided to NOT change or update anything. I have made adjustments and got performance where i want it. Sounds like a lot of you (most of you) spend more time tinkering with all these mods than actually playing the game. Whats the point in doing all of this if you arent going to enjoy the game? Or cant because your redoing a large merge or section of the guide that causes a restart.....comes a point when enough is enough. I spent over a week setting this up and am now level 20......not updating anything until i am done with this character. I know its been changed in the guide as well.....but wanted to mention changing from the Bethini "ultra" preset to the "high" preset gave me about a 15% increase in performance. Pretty dramatic difference. I also turned off ambient occlusion, cloud shadows, water, and reflections. Almost no visual quality loss and more performance. That combined with using 1k textures with noble skyrim and vivid landscapes have got me pretty stable. Also playing with the custom memory block in crash fixes.....hopefully can get rid of most of these crashes during heavy combat scenes. These things are really only necessary for those of us not on windows 7 and or with less than 980tis or better.
  17. lol same here. I have like 2 mods added that arent in the guide... HD Linens (which really should be in one of these guides cause the vanilla linen textures are awful) and replaced main font with the new sovengarde font Was going to add some music but decided not to...for now. that new 60 fps interface is also tempting. Some other mods that i think should be added are the majority of hulk hagens textures. I also considered HDT hair physics for KS hairdos.... my game is already tetering on the brink memory wise so im hesitant to add much else.
  18. Destruction and restoration are always slow to level. I just buy training for those. The rest of the magic skills are pretty easy to level. So yeah your right those compared to like two handed level super slow. But its like that even in the vanilla game. Also destruction levels easier once you use higher level spells (they give more EXP). Using ice storm gives more exp than frostbite. I think removing EVT would help vram and FPS A LOT. it has clipping issues anyways. In college of winterhold. Personally not a fan of it. I also dont think Vividian is the problem performance wise...unless you just want a different look. Just cant jam 10lbs of you know what in a 5lbs bag lol
  19. I have been playing too. Im level 18 and i find combat pretty good too. Not really a fan of the stagger lock tho. But coming from requiem i dont find combat super hard at all. I am playing as a mage. Seen pages back someone said leveling was slow.....i am using all recommended settings and havent had any issues leveling. I do some power gaming tho buying training and abusing my horse lol. Again just used to requiem...and requiems leveling IS super super slow. I do however get many crashes during intense combat scenes indoors and outdoors. But i think its a memory issue on my end. I am guessing the intense combat scenes overload my memory (windows 10 and 970). Will need to test with SPM. Overall the mod list is very nice. More fun than requiem but definitely easier. I just ran through bleak falls without breaking a sweat. My issue with requiem was it was too much of a grind. Claims to be a role playing overhaul but actually forces you to do a lot of power gaming or else you will get slaughtered. Also really limits where you can go. I also dont like the college days mod. Too much missing dialogue. And standing there getting EXP watching people cast spells in college of witherhold seems kinda cheap and cheating ish lol. I know that isnt college days tho. If there is one mod i wouldnt mind being removed its definitely college days. Performance wise i rarely dip below 30......falkreath im always 30-40. Solitude i am all over the place 30-50 depending on where i am. Majority of outdoor locations outside of citys im capped at my cap of 55. Its good overall just wish i could reduce the very annoying crashes during combat.
  20. What is the highest level you guys and gals have reached playing extended..can be this or the version before LOTD? Just curious how much people actually play rather than mod and update lol. I am currently level 15. Difficulty isnt really that bad to me. But i am also coming from requiem which is brutal in every way possible. I am up not changing mods or updating anything until this playthrough is done. Time to actually enjoy the game.
  21. I fixed it by making sure the m.dds textures arent selected for optimization only do the .dds and n.dds not sure what the m.dds are.....i dont know anything about texture types or optimizing them. (maybe mip maps) anyways i just made sure to not optimize those and from what i can tell so far...no more issues. EDIT: nvm i see you didnt unpack bsa...we had completely different issues.
  22. The texture optimization for immersive weapons caused purple textures.... did it exactly as prescribed. unchecking the optimized textures in MO fixed the issue. I will try it again but i dont think its gonna make a difference. Other than that im good to go. Just played for about 4 hours and no ctds or freezes.......just two crashes trying to load saves after dying. But those are about the only types of ctds i get.
  23. They have a premade merge you are supposed to use in the guide now.
  24. Exactly. Thank you. The ENB textures has a 2k option if i remember right. Neo says to choose the high option in the guide. I dont really remember what resolution that is. I only mentioned it just in case he picked 2k. 4064-350=3714. Thats the correct formula for windows 8 and 10 users. I learned that straight from this site lol. A link is also in neos guide......if things have changed then i stand corrected.
  25. Reduce noble skyrim and vivid landscapes to 1k textures. Thats what i did and my VRAM peaks around 3.2 Compromise on texture resolution whereever possible. if you didnt do it installing neos base guide make sure you have optimized vanilla textures installed as well. The High res DLC in particular look like crap and are very wasteful of vram. Also did 1k for realistic water. I also choose the "Low" preset for DynDOLOD and choose 128 for the TexGen LOD. My game doesnt freeze but for some reason i do get the occasional infinite loading screen every now and then. Another thing to get smoother performance is to make sure your enblocal.ini is configured right. If your on windows 8 or 10 with a 4gb card you have 3714 available VRAM. I also set compression to true. I find it gives me smoother gameplay (less stuttering).
