Has anyone used Mator Smash? Since it is still a WIP, it is hard to determine whether to use bash.all, smash.all, or just stick with Wyre Smash? Any ideas?

[WIP] Mator Smash
mentaltyranny replied to Mator's question in Mator's Utilities Support (archived, read-only)
Hi everyone! I have read OP, the discussion around page 15, as well as perused the rest of the thread, and I can't figure out what is the current safe use of Mator Smash? Is it just bash.all, smash.all, or stick with Wyre Smash? -
The bashed patch wiki has special instructions for WM Trap Fixes.esp, which I am guessing is because it is "Mergeable, but tagged 'No merge'". BetterQuestObjectives.esp is similarly treated by Wyre Smash. Should I re-enable it as well? Also, these mods seem especially light on tags... and there are no instructions on adding tags like in STEP FNV (god it was a terribly long process). It seems like this could benefit changes from ESPs like imp_helm_legend making it into the game. Thanks!

Thanks!

Any special instructions for ASIS with STEP? I am only going to use the AS part, no increased spawns. With bashed patch and FNIS I cannot find out which is last.

I recommend 360 Walk and Run Plus to avoid cloak clipping for CoS and WiC. Choose Backstep + Cloak for just the cloak fix. The rest seem design to prevent you from kiting your opponent.

Nebulous112, I am seriously not trying to second guess TechAngel. I thought maybe he might be interested in how I came to this version mis-understanding. I found it by trying to self-help, which is what I thought we were supposed to do BEFORE posting. I thought maybe he might want to clarify so others who are confused don't have to post, and maybe I might even learn a little something a long the way. I am even thinking of trying building the magic pack as suggested by Kelmych... I am not trying to be argumentative - but my thoughts regarding the change log came from here. This page gives the impression that there was v2.10.0 fourteen versions ago. Maybe it is mis-labeled, I don't know. I didn't find this by looking for a point to argue, I first looked at the official mod threads for points 3, 5, and 7 because I wanted clarification as to what "not necessary" met (whether it meant redundant or just not required for the STEP patches). When I saw those topics, I saw the DROPPED tag, which really confused me, so I looked at the changelogs. There I discovered it was actually dropped in what appears to be fourteen versions ago in what was labeled v2.10.0, but could not find a version where it was added back. In hindsight, I think the problem might be that current is 2.2.9.x, the next version would be 2.2.10.x. If you drop the first "2", being that is STEP v2, you get 2.10.x. One major version back could look like 2.10.0.x, but since there were not any minor tweaks, it can be called 2.10 as well - which is where the confusion is. If I am right, you may want to move 2.10.0 on the changelog to the top and labeled it as "pendng". It would be helpful to the silent self-helper lurking out there... Self-helpers like my self don't usually post very much, I didn't all all for STEP FO3, and maybe one post to FONV. I really appreciate the work you guy do, it really improves the quality of these games, and I just thought you might want to know where a self-helper might get stuck - I hope I didn't offend anyone, that is the opposite of what I want to do.
-
TechAngel, 3, 5, and 7: I was referring the fact that these mods were removed STEP 2.10.0, not the future version 2.2.10 (or possibly 3.0.0). can get to it from the main page, then changelog, then scrolled down to previous change logs, then to 2.10.0 or directly here. Its weird because according to the changelogs, these mods where definitely gone. Also, does anybody know how the Brawl Bugs Patch and EBT are related? Just curious...

Hey Shadriss, I wanted to let you know that USLEEP has negated the Conjuration and Summoning Fixes, you can confirm here (go to find on page, type "Conj" and look at the 5th entry). Also, wanted to know if you still got Immersive Winterhold working and if you still recommended those other mods? Finally, based on the revelations here, are you still recommending Balanced Magic or Better Magic? Finally, to anyone here, I really want a mod that hotkeys casting, not equipping, spells from the keyboard; no more (idealy) no less. I am planning on using AH Hotkeys unless someone can recommend a better mod. I am almost done with my STEP installation and thinking about mods to round out my Spell Sword character.

I am sure you guys are getting tired of my postings, but I think this post might actually help you guys manage and improve upon STEP. See I am the kind of person that reads both the STEP wiki recommendations and nexus page description for each mod, and I even look at the mod forum topic and web search when I run into something vague. I even looked ahead to the STEP compilation, STEP patches instructions for further guidance. I just completed section 2.M, and below is list of everything that I felt was vague or contradictory and solution I used after research. Notice that I am NOT asking for help per se, if I did everything right then you guys should know that you are on the right path. However, if I did do something wrong, please let me know! Without further ado, here is the list: Nvidia Inspector, ENBoost users should skip the driver anisotropic filtering: using ENBoost however since there were no instructions to set ForceAnisotropicFiltering=true in the enblocal.ini, I still set anisotropic filtering to 16x in inspector Brawl Bugs Patch: hard to tell if "not necessary" means not required or just redundant with Enhanced Blood Textures (absolutely no idea how these mods are related, feel its gotta be a typo) and nexus page description says "ESP is to disable/enable scripts", installed with esp enabled Double Cursor Fix: despite being removed in STEP 2.10.0, its now back, and since no instructions no set FixCursorVisibility=true in the enblocal.ini, I still installed Enhanced Lighting for ENB (ELE) - LITE: STEP wiki says "Loot after AOS.esp" but section 2.O LOOT Rules says "Global Priority: 45", which is it?; also is there any effect from this mod with no ENB preset? I not planning on using one unless I can find safe, well-compatible preset SKSE -Elys- AltF4: despite removed STEP 2.10.0, back, but since I don't have a multimedia keyboard, I didn't install Weapons and Armor Fixes: nexus page for another mod, CCO, has a note on file download tab (see Compatibility Patch for WAF True Weapons), says that it takes the the place of Weapons & Armor_TrueWeaponsLvlLists.esp, moved that esp to Optional ESPs XP32 Maximum Skeleton: but STEP 2.10.0 replaced with XPMS Extended, now back, installed; I assume the "run FNIS" instructions refers to Fores New Idles in Skyrim in section 2.N Disease Descriptions: hard to tell if not needed means not required or redundant, removed after reading this is included in STEP patches Static Mesh Improvement Mod: the STEP wiki for the STEP patches says "Disable all plugins...", yet SMIM-Merged-All.esp is not on the list below, so I moved it to optional esps A Quality World Map: didn't upgrade to 9.0.1 because STEP wiki instructions referred to a specific old version file Skyrim Flora Overhaul: didn't upgrade to 2.5b because STEP wiki instructions referred to a specific old version file Farmhouse Chimneys: STEP wiki instructions say included in the STEP Patches & not needed yet FOMOD Instructions on the same page say install, installed & moved FarmhouseChimneysCRF.esp to Optional ESPs Birds and Flocks: despite nexus page instructions saying not to, cleaned the "cleaned version" as per STEP wiki recommendations, installed but not enabling on left panel until after Dynamic Distant Objects LOD in 2.N Better Males: did not uncheck plugins HighResTexturePack01.bsa & HighResTexturePack02.bsa nor did I add them to sResourceArchiveList= in skyrim.ini, despite mod nexus page instructions, doing so made Unofficial High Resolution Patch to loss a required master, assuming that checking "Have MO manage archives" later will resolve; STEP wiki NEEDS better instructions here aMidianBorn Book of Silence: did NOT install Bonemold or Skyforge Hotfix, because STEP wiki doesn't mention these but does mention Content Addon, which is more current than the hotfixes Greatsword Sheaths and Scabbards Redux: installed the 2.7.4b update file - which is still a full version - because STEP wiki didn't mention a specific file Mage Outfit Texture Overhaul - Schools of Magic: main file mis-named in the STEP wiki, it is called and I installed Mage Outfit Texture Overhaul - MOTO - SOM - USLEEP USKP CCF Burn Freeze Shock Effects: in STEP wiki, assuming "memory patch" means the work done in [memory] of SKSE.ini Enhanced Blood Textures: installed & moved dD-Dragonborn-Dawnguard-EBT Patch.esp to Optional ESPs, recommendations say included in the STEP Patches & not needed yet FOMOD Instructions on the same page say install Improved Combat Sounds: did not install and merge the EnhancedBlood-ImprovedCombatSounds optional, as STEP official mod topic says it's included in Extended Patches Come together N Out of the way: after looking at the posts on the nexus page, downloaded and merged 1.2a update; considering removing for Better Follower or AFT or something more recently updated, the nexus posts complain about bugs so much that i would never install if it wasn't in included in STEP Convenient Horses: don't understand how this fits STEP Extended let alone Core, horses are a travel feature in Skyrim - I would rather have a major feature improved like magic or a follower overhaul Follower Trap Safety: after looking at the posts on the nexus page, considering removing for Better Follower or AFT or something more recently updated Traps Make Noise: did not install and merge the Mining Makes Noise_CCO Version optional, because STEP wiki doesn't mention this but does mention Traps Make Noise - Follower Safety Patch, which is dated the same day Even Better Quest Objectives: recommendations say included in the STEP Patches & not needed yet FOMOD Instructions on the same page say install, installed & moved BetterQuestObjectives-CRFPatch.esp, BetterQuestObjectives-DBForevertoMisc.esp, BetterQuestObjectives-NECPatch.esp, and BetterQuestObjectives-PaarDilemmaPatch.esp to Optional ESPsAlright, I think that is everything! I apologize for the long list, but I thought it better than making 25 different posts over the last week. Please let me know if this helps or if I made any mistakes. Thanks for being an awesome community for an awesome game!

Hi everyone! I am near completing the modding portion of STEP Core and Extended, and I am planning on installing Survival Pack, CACO, and a couple other mods from recommendations in my thread here. I am just entering section 2M of the STEP guide, and I have a couple questions and revelations concerning using the Survival Pack. I know that STEP Packs are listed at the end of the guide, but when I perused the forums many recommend installing Packs after 2N and even a few have said after 2M. What do you recommend for Survival Pack? I was surprised to see CACO discussed here on this thread, because I don't see it in the Pack. Are you going to add it? Do you have any instructions I can follow to get it to work with STEP Core & Extended + Survival now? I so want this to work... As I discovered in the thread linked above, there is apparently a patch between iNeed and Realistic Water Two from STEP Core, but it is made for update in SSE nexus page only found here (scroll down and see Compatibility section). Does your Survival Patch remove the need for this RTW - iNeed patch? Do you think we can steal the plugin? Or it it not necessary at all? Thanks in advance for any help. I hope this is not considered hijacking the thread, I figured this questions could help any reader. If you want me delete and post a separate thread, let me know!

Need Mod Recommendations

Tech, did you get my message about RWT? I am wondering if I can install the SSE version or at least steal that plugin. Lmk... -
Need Mod Recommendations
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Unfortunately, RWT for SKLE is v1.11 and does not mention anything about iNeed in compatibility but does RND. While the same for SSE is v1.25 and does not mention RND but does mention iNeed under compatibility. So it looks like one is being improved but not the other. Can I just install the SSE version or is that playing with fire? -
Need Mod Recommendations
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Okay I might have figured out this whole MultiQuote thing! Awesome! Thanks for the recommended mods. Please keep me informed if anything thing drops off with the installation of Immersive College of Winterhold, please let me know. I am at the sounds section of the guide now. Oh, and would you mind telling me what IAW means? "In accordance with" or is it acronym for another mod? Yeah, it was pre-forum and website, when STEP first came out. As for CACO, I found an installation guide here, but the instructions are pretty dated. Are there more recent instructions somewhere? I am using SKLE because I assumed, without SKSE, all of the best mods would not work with SSE. Please tell me I am not assuming wrongly. -
Need Mod Recommendations
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Sorry guys i cannot seem to get multi-quote to work... Re: TechAngel85: I understand. I am actually a little familiar with xEdit from the other ES/FO games, so I get what you mean. However, I was hoping that for #2, 3, and 4 I could get some insight as why they were dropped from STEP in the first place. For #5 and 6, I was hoping to get testimony as to whether these mods work as I hope and if anybody found any mods that do it better. Since this appears to be the largest community of Skyrim modders online, I was hoping this was the place to ask. Is there a better subforum where I can get these answers? Also, Realistic Water Two has a patch for Realistic Needs and Diseases, not iNeed. I can't find anything else on iNeed's page either... am I missing something? Re: Shadriss: Thanks so much for answering #1 & 7. It is really helpful. Any opinion on Immersive College of Winterhold? For #8, I found the Testing forum topic for it, but it gives very dated instruction of getting it working with STEP. I was hoping for there are more recent instructions somewhere? What did you think of CACO? -
Need Mod Recommendations
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Oh, I forgot to add: 8. Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul - are there any recent instruction on using this with STEP Core + Extended? I would consider not using the survival pack if I could use this mod. -
First, I am unsure if I am listing this topic in the correct place. If not, thanks to the moderators for moving this topic to the appropriate subforum! I have been following STEP since it was a downloadable .pdf in the early days of Skyrim. Before the release of Heartfire, I stopped playing Skyrim; not because I wasn't enjoying it, but rather I was enjoying it so much that I wanted to play the earlier Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles and I was afraid Skyrim would "spoil" me. Now I am back, and I am midway in the installation a STEP Core & Extended + Survival Pack, and I am looking for just a handful of extra mods to round out my experience. I also noticed that some of my old favorite mods are no longer included in STEP, and I am wonder why? Second, experience playing the earlier SE/FO titles has taught me that couple mod features are essential to my enjoyment of the ES gameplay experience. So if any of you could please take a look at these mods, tell me why they were dropped from STEP, whether they conflict with my STEP configuration, and if there are any superior or more lore-friendly alternatives? This information will save me from the - find a conflict, diagnose, replace mods, start a new game, repeat - cycle! Without further ado: First, I want to verify that iNeed from the Survival STEP pack is compatible with STEP Core and Extended. I know that Realistic Needs and Diseases has a conflict with Radiant and Unique Potions and Poisons HD, and I want to make sure iNeed is good. Better Followers - this was one of my favorite mods for Skyrim. I really liked how it made the use of followers more interesting AND choice of followers more interesting, all while sticking to the lore (technically better than vanilla does). However, it hasn't been upgraded since April 2012, so I don't know if there are incompatibilities with Dawnguard and Dragonborn. If it does work with current STEP, can somebody recommend a mod that levels follower skills appropriately to work with this mod, as the suggested on its nexus page. Deadly Dragons, lore-friendly version - I know the full version went a little wild with feature creep, but the lore-friendly version really made dragon fights momentous and epic feeling. Unless the vanilla dragon battles were improved by Dragonborn, I really feel like this is a must. Thuumic - who doesn't want to shout shouts! This was a blast, and I definitely want it. It looks like Skyvoice is a more current alternative. Please tell me one of this will work with STEP. AH Hotkeys - I am physically disabled, and having the ability to have flame equipped, and by pushing one button to switch to restoration, cast fast heal, and switch back to flame, would really keep me competitive. I hope that is what this mod means by autocast... I know other hotkey mods use different lingo. I know this walks the line between a convenient feature and a cheat, but it really adds to my enjoyment. Any chance this is already in SkyUI? It is hard to tell from the intro benchmarks. D13 Skyrim Leveled items can level up Unique upgrade balanced - in Oblivion, nothing annoyed me more than finding out this cool unique item I have would still be competitive if I just waited a few more levels before acquiring it. I know the counter-arguments, it just really bothered me. But I really don't like this Hammer of Experience thing either; I would prefer it unique items just automatically leveled up with me, if uniques - and just uniques - were unleveled in a "more power as less accessible from game start" or at least lore-friendly way. Any mod that fixes the timing and randomness of radiant quests would be helpful. I found that the whole Radiant quests at the end of a quest line to be a letdown. They should have came first, or at least evenly mixed in the quest lines. I was also annoyed that the best Radiant quests were also "rare" meaning you had to slog through repetitive quests to get to them. I saw Enhanced Skyrim Factions - The Companions Guild, and it is close, but I am planning on playing a SpellSword, so I would like improvement to College of Winterhold as well. Is Immersive College of Winterhold similar? Any mods that improve Companions, College of Winterhold, Imperial, Dawnguard and later factions would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any help!

Better Beast Races Hidden on Nexus
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hey I know it probably won't happen, but I wanted to add that I found both Better_Beast_Races-2_00-Lite-944-2-0L.7z and XCED-1_00-21839-1-0.7z off a torrent with all the STEP mods as of a few versions back, if anyone ever gets Xenius's permission to host them elsewhere. Don't worry, I won't share or host them myself! -
Okay, I finally removed the cart flipping with gsync ENABLED and using SLI. I followed the post here, with the exception of, instead of 85, setting the FPS cap to 58.7 in nvidia inspector (which what I think he meant to say and just typed it in reverse as "set fps cap to 85") and ignoring setting -iFPSClamp=0 (iFPSClamp is not in my INIs anywhere at any setting, and looks like that is the default according to the INI guide wiki anyway). Frame rate does go a little above 58, but never over 60. Wild cart rides are no more! As for the z-fighting and pixilated shadows, I am going to use bethINI. However, considering that it makes INI edits based on mod configuration, I am not sure where in the STEP Core & Extended process to run bethINI... now? After completing STEP? Between 2 steps in the mod installation process somewhere? Any help, as always, is much appreciated.

After restoring to "pre-second gpu" settings, and verifying that all three problems were still there, I pulled out the second card. While I no longer had the cart flipping issue, I did have z-fighting and pixilated shadows. Guessing that I just didn't notice before... So I decided to pop back in the second gpu and go with it. Okay, I am having trouble turning off gsync. I can do it globally through the control panel, and that works fine. But I play other games so I prefer to do in inspector. Yet I can't figure out which combination of gsync in the Skyrim profile. Every gsync setting I mess with leads to CTD immediately upon game load. I even turned off gsync through the control panel, looked and wrote down the settings in inspector, turned gsync back on, entered those gsync settings into Skyrim inspector profile, and CTD! Any ideas? Also, looking at BETHini, the installation instructions seem to be installing it post mod installation, is that correct?

I have been installing STEP and STEP extended over the lat couple days. I had no problems (other than finding Xenius mods) until after I completed 2.I. However, on this step I also installed a second Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card to my Asus - Z97-A/USB 3.1 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (yes, I just found out that the PCI-e x16 slots become x8/x8 with 2 gpus - rookie error). I enabled SLI (gsync has been on before AND after) and went to test my Skyrim setup, and BAM my cart flipped in the intro! After a wild ride, I noticed that I see z-fighting in the mountains above Helgan and once the sun comes out, the character shadows from their heads to their clothes looks pixilated and crappy. Now it could be that I just noticed the z-fighting and pixilated shadows because I became really aware after my cart flipped, but I am 90% sure that they were not present until I installed my second gpu. After loading Skyrim Performance Monitor I noticed that the frame rate was jumping insanely high when the cart started shaking, despite v-sync... What is going on?! I did manage to fix some of it. I stopped the cart flipping by disabling gsync, which is strange because it definitely worked fine before with the iPresentInterval, nvidia inspector, and ENBoost all enabling vsync as well before the second card. Confirmed with SPM that fps stayed < 60. I reduced, but did not eliminate, the z-fighting by setting fSplitDistanceMult=2.0000 in SkyrimPrefs.ini; I was afraid to try fSplitDistanceMult=2.5000 because of texture clamping I read about in the STEP z-fighting guide. I have no idea how to handle the pixilated shadows. After much angst, I decided to pull out my second gpu later tonight and confirm that the z-fighting and pixilated shadows are gone, as well as cart flipping. I am hoping that someone here has a brilliant idea that makes it unnecessary to do so. I have considered installing BETHini, considering it was made by a STEP staffer, but I am afraid of messing up the inis I carefully edited and confirmed during the STEP mod process. I am surprised that it isn't already in the guide somewhere, and I take the fact that it is not as a sign of trouble using it with STEP.

Better Beast Races Hidden on Nexus
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Ok. I am trying not to be a jerk, hope I have not breached protocol here. BTW: I noticed some inconsistency in Texture Resolutions for baseline STEP. Some recommended mods are 1k, other 2k, and I believe Realistic Water Two was 512 resolution. What is the working theory here? -
Better Beast Races Hidden on Nexus
mentaltyranny replied to mentaltyranny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Okay, I understand. I am not trying to be difficult, and fact I am trying to help. I have been following and endorsing you guys since you were .pdf guide, and I want you to succeed. I loved the community work on FO3 & FONV as well. If you look at XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement, the one mod still available on Nexus, it says the following in the readme: >> Distribution Permission The content of this mod is open source and can be used freely on the following conditions: - You will credit me- You will notify me - You will only use it for Skyrim For XCE - Dawnguard I found, it says the same. For version Better Beast Races I found it says: >> Distribution Permission - You may use the content for your own mods, permission from me is required.- You may not redistribute this mod in any way or claim it as your own. So I guess that one is out of the question, but again this appears to be an un-Lite, possibly older, version. So I think we are OK posting XCE - Dawnguard & XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement, as back up - if we can come up with a way to notify him. Unfortunately, his premium user account on Nexus doesn't accept messages. Is he a member here? Can someone please tell me some more about the Lite version? Maybe what files were removed? Again, file size and even file name help; as you can see above I am pretty savvy with Google... Please let me know if I can at least post XCE - Dawnguard.
