  1. Well I installed all of the aMidianBorn armor. Very nice stuff. I also have a house now with manaquins with 1 set of every armor set that I've come across so far displayed on them. Looks way cool.
  2. Did you create a Bash Patch? Did you follow all of the detailed instructions. (IE: hide files, move esp's to optional, LOOT load order, etc ...) Also, the DynDOLOD quick start guide located in the archive has an additional step that is not n the STEP instructions.
  3. Now that my STEP install is complete and I actually understand what I'm doing now; I've been considering upgrading all of the armour. The STEP process uses a lot of the aMidianBorn mods. I really like their stuff so I was planning on upgrading all of hte armour that he/they have available. Have you STEP guys started compiling an armour list for the next itineration of STEP yet? BTW: Thanks for this wonderful modding process and even more thanks for teaching me the whats, hows, and whys of modding. You have created a fairly capable and confident modder. John
  4. I researched your answer. I was unaware of the fact that the ram was mirrored. I wonder if I took the GPUs out of crossfire configuration and ran Skyrim in windowed mode across the 3 monitors (the side monitors being driven by 1 card and center monitor by the other card) if I would realize an increase of usable Vram. Something else to research it would seem. Thank you for your answer. John
  5. I have 2 R9 290 4Gb cards. I monitored Vram and RAM with MSI afterburner. BTW: Your implication is quite rude and un-necessary. Your heading states the you are a "Chatroom Supervisor". Give the respect you assume your title deserves. It would seem the issue was that the STEP install instructions are missing the part where you have to move some files from the DynDOLOD archive. I'm not at that computer right now. Read the quick start html file in the archive to see what it says. After moving the files and folder indicated in the quickstart, follow the STEP instructions.
  6. I ran into this issue when I moved my Steam installation out of the progam files folder. So the question is "Did you buy Skyrim or steal Skyrim?" . We can help if the is a valid install.
  7. I know heat is not the issue. I have a geothermally cooled custom built water cooled system. My CPU never goes above 56c and my video cards never get above 49c. I have waterblocks on my CPU, NB Vreg array, SB, and both video cards. Those temp are the highest it goes when running both Furmark and Prime95 at the same time with my FX-8350 clocked at 5Ghz and my 290s clocked at 1175/1475. Nothing like good ol' mother earth to keep your rig cool
  8. I haven't dropped down from the ultra settings and 2k textures. I too have turned off all non essential processes. Granted I game at a resolution of 5918x1080, but still; I can play Farcry 3 with every in-game visual option maxed out, 4xAA, and 16xAF while maintaining a locked FPS of 30. I think it's just Skyrim. I can live with the micro-pause when crossing borders but running out of memory resources with 8Gb of Vram and 8Gb of physical ram is a little frustrating. I find myself having to save my game every 5 minutes because I never know when it's going to freeze at a load screen or just CTD in the middle of a fight. Just last night I had a CTD and the game would not restart. In looking for the problem I ran LOOT and it said that CCO was dirty with 97 ITMs. cleaned it (tes5edit didn't find any issues) re-installed it (97 ITMs still there) and the game won't start. I thought to revive Skyrim and play through it with all the new eye candy but it doesn't look like that is meant to be. I will spend some (not much) time this evening trying to resolve this new issue. If it works, great. If not then I will probably give Witcher 3 a go.
  9. I was just playing around and set my pagefile to 1024 and received a low meemory warning about 30 seconds into the game. Does the game use RAM or disk space to store textures? just wondering.
  10. That not doing the trick. I think I'm using the wrong terminology to desribe what I wish to do. What I would like to do is decrease the size of the "menu?". The inventory, NPC dialogue menu, etc... basically anything that is displayed when I press the TAB or ESC keys. Is there a seting for this or is it hardcoded into the game. I ask because when I don't use Flawless Widescreen the book text is present. Unfortunately the "menu?" items are so large that I can only see the middle third of them. Maybe there is a menu size x,y setting that I have not found in my search for a solution. Thanks. John
  11. Tried it on medium and still having the same issue. I'm begining to think I'm installing it wrong. The directions that are packaged with DynDOLOD state to put the contents of the data folder into the Skyrim data folder. I was following the STEP directions and there is no mention of that. I'm going to have another go at it but it takes some time to complete. When I create the archive of the texture file created by DynDOLOD TexGen; then use that archive to create the STEP LOD mod, should I delete the texture file from the TESedit5LODGenOutput folder in which it was created before proceeding to the next step. Or should I leave it there to be overwriten when I run the DynDOLOD world script?
  12. IT seems to have made a chnge but i have to go to bed like a half an hour ago. Tomorrow then.
  13. No I'm still on 8.1. I'm waiting for the kinks to go out of 10 before I make the switch. I'm playing on a Eyefinity setup. When I checked Vram usage with MSI afterburner it hung out around 6.5Gb - 8Gb. I don't think 3Gb is going to cut it. But I'll try. BRB
  14. I can cross back and forth over a border at a full run and the only time it pauses is with the first crossing. Once I cross an intersecting border it pauses again. As I have 8Gb of Vram is there a way I can use that excluively to verify if texture loading is the culprit?
  15. One of the values that I don't undertand is the "uExterior Cell Buffer=36". I did a search and found several references to it. This was one of them. General layout of your values will look like this, just plug in the number for where "X" is located and then do the math [General] uExterior Cell Buffer=(X+1)^2 uGridsToLoad=X iPreloadSizeLimit=(X*1024)^2 so with ugrids 7 [General] uExterior Cell Buffer=64 uGridsToLoad=7 iPreloadSizeLimit=51380224 And this:Using UGrids at 7 really does improve the distance drawing, it's much better than 5 but a good GPU is required. Nothing worse than chunks of terrain loading up near by like in the console version. Could this be the issue with things poping in out of nowhere? Based on this formula our uGridTo Load is WAY low. Or is there some other factor at work here?
  16. I've been following this thread because I have the same issue. I wanted to get my STEP:extended process finished prior to chasing this issue down. I just did the "TB" in console. You're right, it happens nearly every time I cross a border and only when I cross a border. That slight pause. It's more of a single full stop and go than what I've come to associate with a micro-stutter. My system couldn't be more different than yours. FX-8350@5GZ, dual R9 290s. Like you, I am using an SSD (samsung 840 evo). I'm only running 8Gb of ram right now but have 16Gb on the way. This was going to be my first swing at the issue. As school has started back this week and I have to "be the teacher"; I won't be able to devote any time to this issue. Needless to say, I'm rooting for you wholeheartedly in this endeavour! John EDIT: My motherboard is an ASUS sabertooth 990FX R2.0
  17. If there was an HQ variant, I used it; and everything is maxed out in the game settings. So, of course, I ran DynDOLOD on high. The game never got past the load screen. I fired up MSI AB and watched to see what was happening. Vram when up to 8104 and system memory went up the 7426. Heck, even some of my running processes shut down. Guess I need more memory. The game is absolutely beautiful though. I'm going to try DynDOLOD on medium to see what happens.
  18. How do you think a NOOB like me knew the answer
  19. Thank you. Funny thing is that it was working on my first 2 go arounds installing STEP. I mut have read that part a little closer then...
  20. Did you install FNIS into the mod order and make sure it's checked in the left hand pane of MO?
  21. When aplying the patch I receive the message "skyproc.exceptions.MissingMaster: Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp has some missing masters: -Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp Please activate and try again." I re-downloaded and istalled both the Dawnguard and Skyrim patches. No joy. I've read the instructions several times. what am I missing? John
  22. I don't know whether to thank you or not for showing me this ini guide Wiki. Now I'm going to loose myself in it and not have time to play the game... I've dropped a note to the maker of Flawless Widescreen. The no book text was an issue tht was fixed back in 2011. It would seem as though it has resurfaced with the STEP process. Maybe he can provide a fix. I'll let you know what his response is.
  23. I believe that the overall HUD size is based on the iSize W= resolution. If I could find a way to lock it to the iSize H=resolution that would solve the issue. I can't find anything pertaining to hud size in the ini files. Does anyone know if there is a HUD size input anywhere?
  24. F*CK ME TO TEARS!!!! Found it. This is something you may wish to include in the WIKI. MULTI-MONITOR (Eyefinity) Users If you are using the 3rd party utlilty "Flawless Widescreen", the book text will be missing from all books that are picked up in Skyrim. Quest specific notes and journals will still have the text visible though. So the *NEW* question is: How do I maintain proper HUD size whilst playing in an Eyefinity (5918x1080) configuration?
