  1. Thank you. Your STEP guide is a very expansive and well written document. I applaude the obvious time and effort your team has devoted to it. Now back to the original question of why my books lack text. As this is the issue I'm trying to correct during this install, I kept checking to verify that the text was present in the books several times during the install process. Of course I LOOTed the plug-in order before I stared the game each time. It was imediately after I had installed the "Book Covers Skyrim" mod that the text was missing. The only conflict that was showing was with the "STEP vaniilla textures" mod. Oncce I disabled that mod the book text was again visible. I re-downloaded and installed both mods in the hopes that it was an issue with the download. This did not orrect the problem. I am going to go disaible all of the mods execept those 2 and see if the issue is still present. If the problem still exists then I can assume that the conflict that I noted earlier is the root cause. If the problem does not exit I will turn on each mod in the order in which it was intalled to see when the problem reappears. I'll be back.
  2. There are more. Just so I understand. I would only have to delete these files if I'm using Wrye Bash as the mod installer, not if I'm using WB to create a Bash Patch. Is this correct?
  3. SHD-lite is one. I will find the others. EDIT: Toby's hi-res textures AMidianBorn Farmhouse AMidianBorn Solstheim Landscape
  4. I am using MO as my mod manager. I am using WB to create the Bash Patch. I never stated that I am using WB as the manager. The directions only state to remove the files from certain mods if using WB. I assumed that meant that I should delete them if I am using WB during any part of the STEP process. BTW: My grammar is fine. You can ask the principal (whom was an english teacher for 22 years) at the high school where I am employed as an educator. I have not yet Bash patched in this (my 5th) install of the STEP:extended process. I want to make sure everything is in order before I do so.
  5. Then I should delete all of the files that the directions state should be hidden?
  6. Following the STEP:extended HQ install to the letter. Nothing added nothing removed. TO THE LETTER. How many time do I have to say this. The install says install and use MO...
  7. Could I use SRO as a replaement for the STEP Vanilla textures MOD or am I mis-understanding what this STEP MOD does?
  8. No to which part? EDIT: wow its still early morning for me. Please disregard
  9. As I stated, I'm following the STEP:extended install (using the HQ varient of everything) to the letter. So "Yes" I am using MO. This is my first foray into modding other than throwing the highest rated MODs in using the Steam workshop. I have gained a great deal of undertstanding of what I'm doing over the 5 install processes but I am am still quite new to this. If I disable the STEP mods (vanilla textures and extnded patch) everything work as it should. Would it be safe to say that I could loose the STEP vanila textures and plug in another MOD (recommendations welcome) as well as install the listed patches that the STEP:extended patch covers and not use that patch? John
  10. I am in need of some clarification. The STEP guide has us creating a BASH Patch at the end if the MOD installation procedure. Is this an un-necessary step? Should I skip it? John
  11. The file is actually in the BSA fiile. I can open it with the BSA browser but I can't remove it. Worse case senario is that the book cover mod won't work. Right? I was having a difficult time finding it becaue it is out of alphabetical order with everything else in the BSA file. It seems to be the only thing that is out of order. weird huh... Nope I was wrong. It's not really alphabetized at all.
  12. Nothing but the STEP:extended HQ flavor installed. I have not Bash patched or done the DynDOLOD thing yet untill I decide whether to just do without the book covers MOD. How can I open an ESP file to remove the files stored within that are providing the conflict to determine if that is the only issue? Why does the book cover MOD even have parchment files?
  13. The conflict is clearly stated in the conflicts tab. yet the only 3 files in the mod are the bsa, esp, and ini files. I have also installed Paper HD at this pint and see those conflicts. No writing in the books with Book Covers enabled with the only conflict being that with the STEP texture pack. How do I edit the esp file?
  14. So it would seem that the issue lies in Book Cover Skyrim. There is a conflict with the /texture/clutter/dragonmap/dragonparchment_d.dds file in the STEP Optimized Texture MOD. There is no way ffor me to hide the file in either MOD (that I am aware of at this moment).
  15. If your using the HQ version of SFO then you will need to delete the Mod Organizer\mods\TreesHD\textures\landscape\trees\treepineforestbarkcomp3.dds and treepineforestbarkcomp3_n.dds. I haven't compared them yet to see which MOD has the better textures but it does corect the issue. John EDIT: The problem is definitely with the Trees HD files. I unhid those and hid the ones in SFO and the issue returned. Remember: If you are using Wrye Bash; don't "hide" ANY files. You must delete them
  16. No, I had to go to bed. There's only 4 bark files conflicting. I'll drill it down when I get home this evening.
  17. Let me know how it work out because I was going to post the same picture. Different location of course. I'm using all HD mods as well and am sticking to the STEP extended. I checked it right after I finished section 2.G in the STEP guide so it's not anything after that causing your issue. Hope this helps. John EDIT: Disabled SFO- issue gone. Re-enabled SFO and diabled Trees HD - Issue gone Trees HD overwriting something from SFO So now we need a botanist to tell us if those are pine or aspens trees because those are the only conflicting files.
  18. It was a 5 minute download. It started at 11Gb but only verified the existing files. I then had it chek the game cache. That was another 768kb. Cleaned them and I'm off and running again. Thanks again for your help. John
  19. Darn. have to go delete all the ones I hid (hided). I wonder if this was the cause of my issues in the first 4 installs. Instructions might need a revision.
  20. Some of the instructions say to hide files. Others say to delete if using Wrye Bash. I'm using Wrye Bash. I'm conflicted about what to do in the first instance. Do I hide or delete?
  21. I've been looking at the changelog and it made me wonder if SRO was all that. I did a Bing Search and found several articles/blogs about SRO; all of them praising the author on his work. "A true artist" was in some of the reviews. Has the STEP team found a replacement of equal quality or are they having to find the next best thing? Just curious as I have SRO 1.6 and was considering using it. I plan on keeping this STEP itineration for some time and would like the best graphic quality that can be had with current MODs. Thanks. John
  22. Thank You. And Thank You to you also Guard.
  23. I think my issue was when I did a Ccleaner run to make sure I didn't have any lingering settings that might have been messing up my install. I did move my Steam folder to my root directory but did game cache verify afterwards. I'm well into my STEP process (again #5) right now. But if I re-download Skyrim all I have to do is Tes5Edit the 4 files again, right?
  24. Does that re-download the 6+ Gigs of Skyrim or does it just verify that I own it?
  25. Oh oh, Loot won't work because of a missing registery entry.
