I couldn't find a a fix for the missing book text so I deleted all of my local conent through Steam and for good measure deleted the Skyrim folder. Then I unziped a save I made of the Skyrim folder without the mods installed. I can read the books again, Yea! Unfortunately Steam doesn't see my Skyrim installation so it wants to re-install Skyrim when I run the launcher. I have no desire to do that. So If someone can do the "spoiler" thing with everything maxed out so I can copy and paste it that would be great. Thanks. John BTW. Does this mean that Steam won't be updating ( read, possiblly breaking) my Skyrim anymore?

OK. no answers found on the WWW. I did find out that the book texts are taken care of by the file in the strings folder. I installed the "English Strings for Skyrim" MOD in hope that it would fix the issue. It didn't. So I tooled around the DATA tab in MO and found the strings folder. it showed the MOD that I installed in red with the pop up stating "Also in unmanaged: update, dragonborn, Hearthfire, Dawnguard, Skyrim." I placed the MOD both at the top and bottom of the MOD order to see if there were any other conflicts, there was none. I verified the game cache. Does that fix ALL issues that might be present in vanilla Skyrim and the DLC? Why am I showing a conflict between the MOD and Skyrim as well as all the DLC? Shouldn't have TES5Edit gotten rid of those conflicts when I cleaned the Update.esm and DLC.esm's? Any ideas what to try next?

This happens with just STEP:Extended installed. I even reinstalled STEP to fix that and a couple of texture issues I was having with coin purses and alchemy labs. The other issues ar gone but this one remains. Time to go learn some more.

I really enjoy reading the books. What MOD controls this? Thanks, John

How do I verify that STEP is installed and running correctly & fully?

A question. To take this one step further using the "More Realistic Hair" and the "Superior Lore-Friendly Hair" MODs as an example: Can I just put the 2 hairlong .dds files from the SLFH mod into the MRH textures\actors\character\hair folder? Then rename the MOD "Realistic Hair-With Lore Friendly-HQ" and repackage it? John -

Did you intall the TES5LODGen from Nexus right below the Unofficial High Resolution Patch in your load order? That's what Gamerpoets says to do in the video. You should probably put it below the STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures. I still have to BASH then I'll do the LOD. I'm on my 4th go around but I think I have a better understanding of what I'm doing now... Maybe -
Do I need the STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures
Thick8 replied to Thick8's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you. -
I read the readme.txt and it stated that this was just an update for those who would rather not re-download the main optimized texture packages. As I'm doing a fresh install and everything is shiny and new; do I still need this or will in cause conflicts? Thanks, John EDIT: The unofficial HR patch is at 1.1.9 The unofficial Skyrim patch is at 2.1.3 I'm not sure of the HR texture pack but it was just downloaded last Thursday

Thank you. This is my second full run through fixing (hopefully) ALL the mistakes I made the first time.

When installing "Realistic Ragdolls and Force" the note says: STEP Extended Patch users can remove the plugin from this mod. All other files are required. Do I do this when I'm installing the mod? Am I supposed to un-tick the "dP - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Realistic.esp"?

First view of Whiterun with STEP. -
Then I was chasing after the wrong thing. As it turns out, I had all the graphic settings at their max in the Skyrim launcher. I had forgotten that i had done that at the beginning of the STEP process. I just turned a few things down a little and viola. Then when I entered Whiterun I had to drop them a little more. Everything seems to be working great. Thanks for your help

I get this message: Patch Speedhack ENBoost turned on in ENBlocal.ini, graphic modification disabled I'm assuming this means that ENB is not working. The game does run though. Is my assumption wrong? Am I chasing my tail over a non-issue? John EDI I'd still like to know how to determine if I'm missing masters though. Thanks
-
I'm having the same issue. I verified both ini files as well as the ENB setup. How do I verify I'm not missing any masters?
-
Did a you said and am having CTD during game loading (just like with the wrapper). I'm just running ENB without any ENB presets. I followed the install instructions. Is ENB truly necessary?
-
Yes that clears up my concerns. Thank you for that. I did follow the guide to include all of the detailed instructions. The Game is BEAUTIFULL with all the HQ options installed. I didn't quite understand the ENB install but then watched the Gamepoets video and figured it out. Unfortunately the wrapper version cause the game to freeze with all kinds of weird graphical anomalies when loading. I installed the injector version but don't know if it's working. I'm not getting the confirmation during the load screen like I was with the wrapper version. The ENBseries folder is being created in the Skyrim folder though, so who knows??? I un-overclocked everything when I started having issues and am still getting 50-60 FPS (4xAA, 16x AF @5918x1080 resolution) at stock speeds. That's with all the HQ options installed. I may (or may not) put the screws back to my machine to see what it can do. I do have to start over as my last saved game had a bunch of mods that I downloaded withh NMM without any understanding of how they interacted. But that's OK. I find myself walking instead of running everywhere as it's just too pretty not to enjoy. Well I'm off to loose myself in Tamriel... John

Hello All, I'm about 40 hours into this install. Had to reinstall vanilla from the zip file twice. Cudos to the guy that put that part in the guide. There is a definite learning curve here; and they weren't kidding when they said you have to follow the directions exactly. I'm waiting on the DynoLOD to finish. thank God I have a fast SSD. I had several of those lightning bolts with the + and - by them but the game worked so I didn't try to figure them out. I did make two additional Skyrim zip files. One when all the MODs had been downloaded and another right before I started the current process. Well, just wanted to say Hi and thank you for all of your unimaginably hard work on this. Gotta go search the forum for the lightning bolt issue Bye. John
