  1. Sorry, was unaware that there was a DynDOLOD section for my issues (which was my fault)
  2. I believe my solution worked. The smoking gun test passed with flying colors. I actually followed another guide > started by installing and running Skyrim through Steam, updated to the latest, but then used 3 console downloads to revert the game back to 1.6.640. And I tried texgen early and it does seem to detect the newly added plugins I am slowly adding. Phew
  3. I've had an issue with TexGen during my 2nd attempt to follow the STEP guide (2.2.0). In my first attempt I was on latest Skyrim SE 1.6.1170 and unfortunately I got freezes randomly (no CTD). What I did not have issues with is TexGen allowing me to select HD Grass. During my 2nd attempt to follow the guide, I instead downloaded and copied Skyrim 1.6.640 to another location on my C drive. I then followed the STEP guide using 1.6.640 and all version-specific mods. All was well until TexGen. During this attempt, TexGen wouldn't allow me to select HD Grass, even thought I DID have Complex Grass for ENB installed and all other related mods from the guide. I noticed that TexGen wasn't seeing the full plugin list for my 1.6.640, and only loaded up the regular plugins (main files, CC). Here is my plan and hopefully someone can confirm it'll work. 1) I'll install Skyrim from Steam in the regular folder location. 2) I'll begin following the STEP Guide. 3) When it has me launch the game from Steam I will do so, and it'll update me to 1.6.1170. 4) After I exit out, I'll delete all data of Skyrim from the Steam folder, and swap it with the 1.6.640 backup. Doing this should work right? My biggest concern is TexGen once again not seeing my plugins (and with step guide there are like 450 plugins)
  4. So I decided to scorched earth and reset the entire PC with fresh windows 11. I realize I'll need to reacquire the basics again like the Microsoft redistributable and all that. Question now is can I: 1) Launch Skyrim from Steam (it'll then update to 1.6.1170) and acquire the AE CC content 2) Delete the Skyrim files from the Steam folder and replace them with my clean 1.6.640 fresh backup I can then disable a file in Steam to prevent Skyrim from updating. By doing this, surely the 1.6.640 guide will work 100% for me. Again, it DID work 100%, except for TexGen being unable to find my plugins.
  5. Can't I just drag and drop by 1.6.640 folder into the steam folder? Thanks.
  6. So I'm screwed because of where Skyrim is installed. I can't "run" the launcher or anything because it won't allow me to because I disabled something so it won't update. I need to remain on 1.6.640. I installed 1.6.640 outside the Steam folder because I have no intention of updating it. But this is somehow making texgen not see my plugins, my full plugins. I ran the game after post processing and everything is working fine
  7. My issue is this I think: TexGen doesn't see all my plugins. It only sees the original and CC content, nothing else. I have Skyrim installed outside the Steam folder since I'm using an older version. EDIT: This has to be the issue. When TexGen loads all it loads is the default stuff, nothing I added. But there is no config to point it to a plugin list.
  8. I always struggle with this part. I have the right settings enabled. I have level32=1, cidgrass=cid, cathedral landscape complex grass for enb, and yet TexGen only allows me to select regular grass, not HD grass. Where did I go wrong? What settings or mods could I be missing? Following the Step latest guide using Skyrim 1.6.640
  9. I can't utilize crash logs because it's -always- a random freeze, no CTD, with the sound still going. I can only Task Manager quit the game. I updated the game to the latest version and then began following the guide, doing all proper setups beforehand. Video driver is up to date, but I did not think to disable all of ENB.
  10. Ah, my mistake, let me clarify. I did a fresh install of literally everything, and it passed the smoke test. But this freezing issue happens randomly, it could be within 2 minutes or 35. I am not attempting to use old saves. I use a fresh save each attempt. I only mentioned the 360 hour save because I had no issues then. But then I realized the latest version of Skyrim came out near the end of my playthrough, and I didn't update to it. Now I am on the latest version.
  11. I've been feeling thoroughly defeated with my attempt to run a fresh install of the game. I've followed the guide to the T to the best of my ability, and yet during gameplay the game simply freezes without a CTD. I have papyrus logs but they don't offer that much info. Has anyone had success with a fresh full install on the latest Skyrim version, 1.6.711 or w.e (or has anyone had a similar issue and fix involving the game freezing with the sound still going)? I pray for a miracle. It's always possible I messed up, but I did this back in December and had no issues for 360 hours.
  12. That's great! Also one that thing, any idea on what setting I am missing that controls how FAR away the trees and grass can be seen when using lod/text/dyndolod? I know not to use ugrindstoload
  13. Thanks. Managed to get the grass to generate. Only thing left is how to make it appear from even farther away lol. Also is guide 2.3 coming this summer?
  14. So I followed the latest STEP Guide and made sure to enable these: grass;gid and level31:1 in the DyndoLOD ini, and during the dyndolod process it lets me select HD Grass, but the grass lods are not being generated. Idk what to do. EDIT: Was I supposed to use a mod called No Grass in Objects?
  15. I tried this with Enhanced Blood Textures Lite, removed the headers like in the example, yet it still says missing masters. Hm
  16. The third and final attempt to make the LODs work was a success. Thanks for the help~
  17. Thank you. I will look into this in-depth soon. Shouldn't be too difficult, like you said
  18. Bro you actually helped me out in the middle of June this year when I had questions about Parallax support. Unfortunately my power supply died and I spent the rest of summer/fall replacing each component. Been trying to get back into Skyrim since June!!!!
  19. Thanks for the advice. So far, so good. I have my eyes peeled for those grass and LOD-related mods
  20. Yeah, I've also learned new things like the fact that Parallax is not natively supported and 20X0 mod isn't a simple texture mod, so I won't be deviating or adding anything during this setup. Things like learning how to swap Enhanced Blood Textures Lite for the Main file can wait. The only thing I know I'll deviate from is using Ordinator instead of the other perk line. I just can't live without it. But one step at a time, like you said. I clearly missed a few things in my first two attempts which is why it resulted in failure. And despite how Mod Organizer manages things I always feel like a mod screwup is a death sentence for the entire run.
  21. Sigh, that might be it. I have to attempt again. I'll slow down even further. Hopefully can play by weekend.
  22. I was following the SSE Anniversary Edition guide. After getting to the very end I noticed the draw distance was ruined. Far off mountains and even near mountains looked like curvy shapes, trees popped in every 20 feet, you could see the lights of dragonsreach before the actual city loaded in. Idk what step resulted in that but I feel it had something to do with LODGen... I have all the mods downloaded but am debating if I have the energy to attempt a third time
  23. Ultimately it all fell apart. IDK why but LODGen refused to work properly. It would have things popping up every 5 feet, the draw distance was gone. I tried to follow every rule but now it seems my play of the game is over. I just cannot get this part of the setup to work, and its taken days to get to this point. xLODGen or bethini made my draw distance basically 0 and I cannot find another guide
