  1. I might give it a go this evening, I just get a bit over my head when dealing with NPCs and characters. It hasn't been all that important until I started streaming, and people want to see pretty NPCs! Thanks a lot. Other than the unfortunate removal of mizzogs mod, the build is incredibly stable, and runs flawlessly on my machine. I've been getting compliments left and right. I'll throw some of my screenshots up on the nexus page when I get up and rolling again. Amazing work!
  2. Has there been any word on when mizzog will be adding makeovers (or it's equivalent?) back? I'm attempting to use only bijin's (Warmaidens, NPCs, and Wives) from the optional install, yet it seems no matter what fiddling I do with my load order, I am still at the mercy of the occasional "grey face bug" when dealing with NPCs that are specifically from warmaidens. If I start a brand new game in whiterun, it is pretty much a coin toss as to which NPCs from Warmaidens will have the bug, and which will be okay. It seems without the conflict resolution, I am either going to have to live with the current iteration of visual bugs, or just remove one of my favorite mods all-together.
  3. So, I am at the portion of the guide where I need to aquire/install the Merged LOTD Patches. If I am reading right, I should wait to test the build until the update to install the Merged Patches if I am using RSChildren? EDIT: Can I just download the RS Patch from the SRLE LotD page and be done with it? Do I even need it if I didn't use the Option 2 install portion of the guide? Or will the Patches Merged ESP from the Patch Central page be okay?
  4. I would remove the word "core" altogether, core usually implies necessity. I would also add a warning for Mizzog's mod until we can get an eta on the new version
  5. Thanks for the reply! I'm just going to go with Bijin's AIO esp + Mature skin and Skysight for this playthrough. Skysight does everything I want it to, I was going to try Men of Winter for a change of pace, but looking at the screens, I'm not sure it would have been to my taste anyway. And, tbh, I think having ordinary women would make for an even greater visual disparity between the updated women, and the ones still left untouched. I'm just not confident enough with modding characters/npcs to confidently troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  6. I edited my above post. It looks like I will just have to skip all of the optional NPC and skin stuff for now.
  7. Would everything work correctly if I just left the ESPs from the NPC Retextures - Optional Installation active and unmerged? I'm thinking I could just install: Inhabitants of Skyrim - NPC OverhaulThe Men of WinterThe Men of Winter Appearance Safety PatchMales of SkyrimThe Ordinary WomenBijin WarmaidensBijin WivesBijin NPCsFading Pride - SRLE Extended Edition and then move on to Skin and Body and be okay for my next playthrough. Would I be correct is assuming that? Or will I run into more issues down the line?
  8. Awesome! Thanks. Also, it appears Makeovers by Mizzog - The Companions has been taken down in the last 24 hours, does this mean that the entire merged patch is going to have to be made on our side now, making the merges and such a bit more complicated? EDIT: Or will everything still work even though the ESP is rolled into the merged LOTD?
  9. Is there somewhere I can look to find a guide on the NPC Rextures - Core, NPC Retextures - Optional Installation, and Skin and Body sections of the integration guide? I am trying this build out from scratch, and am getting pretty confused during that section. A couple examples: I can't find Windsong Skyrim Character Overhaul on the SRLE base guide or the LotD guide. Inhabitants of skyrim is there twice. EDIT: Also, (and I might just be blind and/or dumb) the SRLE Extended LOTD - NPC Retutures Core - Conflict Resolution esp has NPC Retextures Merged - Core as a master and I can't find a merge section on either guide. Should I skip the portion of the integrated guide labeled NPC Retextures - Core, and Begin with the optional installation? Also, with skin and body, are Better males and Skysight skins compatible with the "NPC - Retextures - Optional installation" section right out of the box as described in the Core guide and LotD guide? Usually I go with a more simplistic setup for my NPCs and characters, so it is one of the few modding areas out there that baffle me along the way. Hopefully this was a coherent enough description of the issues I am having with this portion of the guide. Thanks.
  10. It's been a while since I have done a fresh STEP install, and I have a question, I did a search and read through all four pages of topics here in the Wrye Bash forum. So do I have both "Install for Skyrim" AND "Wrye Bash [standalone]" checked? and should I just ignore the warning that comes up? Sorry for the n00b question but I have been playing Skyrim for a couple months now with STEP and kinda forgot come of the simple things. Thanks. EDIT: God I suck. Sorry. I'm posting from a slow laptop at work. My impatience is embarrassing.
  11. It really depends on your level, but I would go try out a leveled dungeon and see how it works out for you. I only have one or two profiles with the mod and haven't had much time to spend with PerMa, so I can't tell you how it will all play out. To be frank, however, a fight with a single, dog-sized wolf should be pretty inconsequential to even an inexperienced warrior wearing a full set of armor.
  12. To add to some of the discussion here regarding pointing out what your actual problem is/could be: In some cases, a freeze or a crash can just be that: a freeze or crash. Not everything is a symptom. Example: I was having ILS issues that were relatively consistent. Then, I was running at night fighting several enemies at night, and minty's lightning mod struck a mudcrab with a lightning bolt right as a dragon was landing in front of me, and the game froze. I immediately flipped out and spent the next two days not playing and tried to figure out what could be causing both things. Turns out, I had just misplaced my SKSE.ini and the freeze was because I didn't spend the .002 seconds reading the first few lines of the lightning mod. My problem was ILS, the freezing was not a symptom of that, yet I wasted countless hours reading and posting about it trying to find a solution that encompassed both of my perceived symptoms. It would be like trying to diagnose a bronchial infection but ignoring all of the solutions that don't include your shoulder pain from throwing a football.
  13. While I've since "modified" my modded game, and am happy with the results, I am really appreciative of the resources here, I learned a lot. I've been modding for so long, and every time I go through setting up a new playthough and modset, I am always blown away by how little I actually know about the inner workings. I wish I could see myself from three years ago talking about mods, I thought I was a genius for using NMM when all of my friends were still using the steamworkshop. Boy oh boy was I wrong.
  14. Totally agreed. I was about to rip things apart and start over after going through everything trying to fix my ILS issue. This was definitely my issue. I saw SKSE on the STEP list and just went through the installer assuming SSMP was there and just set it and forgot it.
  15. Fantastic, this will mean I'll be able to use some decent LODs and a nice safe ugrids setting to make it a little nicer for others viewing. I personally only care about what is in my immediate area, depth of field usually takes care of my gross LODs haha.
  16. So if I just uncheck then check in the correct order, I'll be able to determine which textures I want to use? That is awesome if that's the case. I love MO.
  17. Is it as simple as just installing the mods and dragging and dropping in the left pane? I just want to make sure I'm using the right textures for stuff, and if I can use it on an existing save.
  18. Hello community, I have a (hopefully ) relatively simple question regarding conflicting graphics, and new profiles. I am still relatively uninformed when it comes to how MO handles the overwriting of texture mods. I guess the best way to start out is just to explain my situation, and the result I am attempting to achieve. I have my default profile, with all of the highest possible resolution versions of the STEP recommended texture and graphics mods in the conflicting graphics section, downloaded and installed in the order suggested, and the game run flawlessly, and I am more than pleased with the results. I am going to begin recording my antics around skyrim and I would like to setup a profile using lighter versions of the graphics mods so I can record at 60fps and keep my PC happy. Now, If I were to create a new profile, would it be as simple as downloading the lighter versions of all of the conflicting graphics mods and checking the boxes in the left mod pane in the correct order in order to achieve the STEP desired result? And would this work on an existing save that has already used the textures? I would like to manually add a very early (just outside of helgen) save to a new profile and use the same mods I have installed, just with lighter textures. Could I actually just copy my current profile, disable the texture mods in the left pane, and D/L and activate the lighter versions in the correct order? I hope this was all clear, it was actually very hard to articulate through text. I did a relatively thorough search, but was unable to find what I was looking for, I even watched all of gopher's MO vids, but got no answers when it came to the overwriting of and install order of the graphics mods. Thanks!
  19. I am still clueless on how to go about removing the esp refrences from the STEp Extended Patch. After playing up to level 30 a couple times I found I was missing out on a lot of cool stuff, and I just can't, in good conscience, suggest this to a friend and tell him, "Well, if you know where a lot of the stuff is, then you'll be fine" when he hasn't played the game that much. If I was a big roleplayer, and only wanted to hit a low level and keep my character very tight along my RP rules, then I can understand this mod, or even some people's need for it. As it stands however, I would really like to not use, and more importantly, be able to learn a little bit about Tes5Edit, so I can help friends of mine who may be overwhelmed when modding or using step. When I use Tes5Edit and select only the STEP Extended patch, the only thing I know to do from there is to select the Patch, once I do that, I see the expanded patch and see a list, and the only thing I can glean from that is to look under the quests teb, and from there I don't see anything resembling the merged ESP for better quest objectives and the choice is yours. I do not know how to find the "merged ESP" that is causing CTD on gamestart. I have been told it is very simple, so I would be extremely grateful if someone could offer any advice on how I can go about removing this single mod out of over 200 that is making me not really want to load up my game anymore, or share this great modset with friends. :(
  20. Well that would be fantastic. I am usually relatively technically adept (I work in IT), but I know how fickle skyrim can be, so I am definitely trepidatious when making changes of this nature. Basically, I'm a *****.
  21. Damn. I have no idea how to go about doing that. Looks like I might be going back to the Realvision mod set :(
  22. Fantastic. So just removing or hiding that file in the file tree and the reinstall of better quest objectives will have my quests back to the vanilla acquiring style? I love everything about STEP, and having this small tweak will make my experience about as perfect as I could ask. Alright, I am not sure how to remove the ESP, and I am also assuming I will need to make a new bashed patch, and the dual sheath redux patch as well after making these changes. Correct?
  23. My issue is it is causing a problem with the step extended patch, and the game immediately CTDs without it, and LooT gives an error. Would your method allow for a safe uninstall of the mod via MO? Or am I going to have to manually edit the STEP Extended patch myself? Your help is much appreciated. If you are RPing and wish to do your own thing and know the route you are going to take, then that's fine, but as a completionist, I wish to at least have the option of doing a myriad of quests and not have to remeber the names of locations across the map every time I talk to an innkeeper. I love that you get quests from just having conversations, and navigating through a couple quests I won't do is nothing compared to missing out on quests I would like to do because a mod deemed the process of obtaining them unnecessary.
  24. How can I go about safely removing this? I can't really see why anyone would want such a mod, as the vanilla game allows you to track the quest you wish to track anyway, and I feel like I will just miss out on some of the smaller quests that lead you to new, radiant locations. With this mod, I now have to manage the smaller quests by memory, rather than by simply looking at a tidy log. Not good.
