  1. A) I would consider it similar, but a new take. Some things haven't been officially ported over, others have, so it's best to treat it as a new setup. I never used Darth's guide because of Oldrim's instabilities, but I have to imagine (and everyone else feel free to correct me) that they started in roughly the same place, but have diverged over time. I know Darth and Lexy work together on these (how could they not?), but they really should be considered two separate things. B) Yes and No. Anything that is not a straight texture mod should have the SE version downloaded. Where one doesn't exist (and these are flagged in the guide), some can be converted to the new form 44 with relative ease. So the short answer is to hold on to all of it that you can, but know that a lot of it will be downloaded due to SE/LE differences. C) MO2 is relatively stable, and I've had no issues with it... I do miss the BSA management aspect, but this guide takes care of the 'empty' esp files by having us extract the BSAs anyhow, so there is no effective difference in how to use the program. You're safe enough with MO2, though some have had some issues getting some of the tools to work through it. D) You aren't thinking in the right terms - the guide will likely never be 'done' until the day nobody cares about Skyrim anymore... or at least, until Lexy, Darth, her team, or anyone who takes up the torch after them are done with it. See my comments a few posts back with regards to updates. Once you get a build done, it will be stable, but changes are bound to come, and you will have to either update the setup or keep playing your current game... same as everyone else. :)
  2. That's fair enough - I was a child of the 80s as well, so I knew well the idea of gameplay being more important than the graphics. And with those specs... you may be onto something. :) In other news, Lexy, I took a look at Luxor's Volkihar HD, and it completely obviates the current Volkihar re-tex in the guide. I assume you intend to remove the current in favor of Luxor, given your placement of his work into the same pantheon as Gamwichs?
  3. Can you imagine GLaDOS as a boss fight in Skyrim? As it was I was half certain that I'd find Cave and Caroline in that inn... instead I found Gordon. This also disturbs me greatly. On an aside, what happened to the voice acting in this mod? The initial ones sounded good, but the rest since I've hit the desert... they all sound like bad computer text-to-speech conversions. Take it one merge at a time. Once you've created it, go into each mod that provides an esp and double click it, go to the Optional ESP tab, and move any esps used in the merge up to optional. This does two things for you: 1) Gets all the un-needed esps out of the right pane, so they won't clutter up things like LOOT, Wrye Bash, and the like, and 2) keeps them in reserve so you can use them again to regenerate the merges if you have need later on. It's a good practice in general anyway, and I can't recommend this enough. Updates are about the size they are... which means that it varies greatly. Some are only version updates to mods already in the guide, others get rid of and add mods. The last one was mostly a version update, for example, for all the list was a longer one, but the next one is expected to add in a fair number of new ones. It's a crap shoot, in essence, so there's no predicting it. That said, I'd wait another week or so for the next major update to drop, then start. When the updates do come out (and they will...) you face a choice - update and restart your playthrough, or suck it up and wait. I've yet to see any version of the guide with any major problems (a tribute to Lexy and her team), so it's unlikely that there will be anything that changes that demands immediate update. As to graphical, I think you can safely leave them out if you choose... I think that's an odd decision, but it should work. Alternately, you could still download them, but in lower resolution versions (1K instead of 2 or 4K as an example) to at least get some of the benefits of the textures. They really do make a huge difference. If your system is having a hard time graphically, the other thing you could do is leave out the ENB, which are historically the biggest framerate eaters. If you do that, I'd still recommend ENBoost, which uses some of the ENB files, but only the memory management portions. Regardless, there are some options here, and it's likely we can help you find a happy medium somewhere to allow you to enjoy this guide to the fullest your CPU and GPU will allow. No worries here, guy - I was the only one in the office at the time. :) Thanks... but wouldn't time travelers from the future already know about this? :)
  4. As a recommendation - mark this mod (and the body skins as well) as NSFW? I almost had a minor heart attack when I went through the mod's screenshots here at work on break...
  5. Started on the Grey Cowl quests last night, and saw this. All I'm going to say is that if there is an Aperture Science facility in the area, I'm going to hide, Dovahkiin or no.
  6. I put them in with no real CR to speak of and haven't seen any issues with them at all - let LOOT sort them, and let it ride. I don't think we'll need a whole lot to make it work well with the guide... a few keyword forwards or the like, possibly.
  7. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo...............! I don't wanna end my playthrough, but I have OCD about things being out of date. The agonies of choice... Also, something that popped up on the Nexus today - may be a good candidate for inclusion.
  8. Next thing to ask, then, is if you have installed the complete guide or are still working your way through? Lighting seems distinctly off as well, and possibly LOD as well. Pic is a little small to show all the detail, but even the close in trees look off to me.
  9. Everything in that shot looks like a comic style. Any ENB installed or leftover ENB files? Additional thought on this - would not xEdit and DynDOLOD cull anything that's not visible and make it playable anyhow?
  10. From that, I assume it wasn't just you who had issues with the FPS?
  11. On a seperate note - there has been a series of mods being released that are complete overhauls of the 'minor' hold capitols: Falkreath, Morthal, Dawnstar, and Winterhold. Has anyone looked at these in game, or have any opinions about suitability for use with the guide? The screens for Falkreath look pretty good, but I'm unsure that using Winterhold would be a good idea, given how many mods we have that affect that place already. THoughts?
  12. WRT ETaC - the updates MissJennabee provides are largely expanding the list of towns or fixing bugs in areas she's already covered. Updating to the latest version won't be a problem (as Lexy mentioned) so long as you use the same install options as shown originally - IE, Riverwood and associated patches only. That way, nothing new is inserted into the guide, and you get any bugfixes for the mod associated with Riverwood as well. As a general statement, this is true of MOST mods in the guide - so long as something fundamental in mod doesn't change, the updates can be inserted using the same installation instructions that are in the current guide.
  13. I am running a non-standard version of Phoenix ENB - one of the other forum goers here applied the nighteye fixes to it (which sorta work), so the settings I'm using may not be overly useful to you, though if you still want them, I guess I could post the ones I changed at some point. Just had to get the caveat in there. Well, assuming that everyone here is still using the pre-update version of SSE, it's not even a problem to update the guide. It's just very version specific at the moment. :)
  14. It's... different. Maybe the lighting isn't helping much, but neither of them honestly looks good in those pics. That said - the Frankly at least looks more like metal plates on leather, which I think is what it's intended to be.
  15. Fair enough... though I still think it looks more like really dark leather and not anything metallic or crystalline. *shrug* After looking at it more, it is still better... but mostly because of detail, not in the 'materials' used.
  16. Personally, I kinda hope we don't swap them - normally I like Gamwich's work, but this one looks very... grainy. Ebony and Daedric are still a metal-crystal fabrication, and these new ones look almost organic in the way they look. There's no metallic sheen or crystal shine to it at all. Granted, the one we have now has similar traits, but it seems much less noticeable, maybe because its also so much darker. Anyhow, Lexy will decide, and we shall all prosper, I'm sure.
  17. Mentioned in the post above yours. Also, for once, not sure I prefer Gamwich's retexture to the one the guide currently uses...
  18. Do you want it to? Honestly, you can change all the settings for this inside the game by using Shift-Enter to fine tune it - I finally did that, and got great results. Think of those as a starting place. I place all things non-guide at the end (unless this would change something I don't want to change, such as a texture). Just be sure to run Finishing Line with those mods in the lineup, and treat them as you would any non-merged mod. Also, Gamwich is at it again... and it covers one of the glaringly missing things from AMB. Honestly, though, this may be one of the few times I say I like what we have better than what Gam came up with.
  19. Just as a general question, are you testing each section as they get completed? If yes, that is likely part of the problem - the guide doesn't work that way. It assumes that all mods are installed, all merges made, and all Finishing Line actions completed... anything less than this, and there are going to be issues similar to what you've experienced. If no, then there may be more troubleshooting to be done (which is fine), but we're gonna need more information that what you've posted thus far.
  20. Noted this on Nexus today - may go well with the Keep it Clean mod. I don't use it myself, but I thought it may be of interest to the rest of you.
  21. This... and I'd recommend her second answer of making the esp Optional, which will keep it handy in case you need to rebuild the merged file later on. I described the process a few pages back, if you need instructions. Didn't create a new character, but everything appeared to be working as expected with only the exe file put back in. The two other files that got updated are overwritten by your MO2 cleaned versions anyhow (if you've set things up right) so are unimportant to this process. As Lexy mentions, only the MCM version should be used - unlike the ESPs for merges, these ones can be deleted from their mod (just the esp file though - the rest of the files are still needed for proper operation). Fair enough, my only question is what, if any, items from this mod carry across to the museum... I'm keeping a copy of each note and book specifically to put in there. If I'm short just this one, ok, no problem, but I figured it was worth an ask. @Lexy - Freedom Looms Closer. Soon, they shall be in school...
  22. Found a way (through Steam, no less) to get the old EXE back. SO I'm happy. I'd link it, but I'd have to go hunting again. I ran across the method by searching for patch notes for SSE, so if you take that route, it might help. In completely unrelated items - I recently finished Forgotten City (very well done, BTW), but still cannot get Cassia's Notes out of inventory. Any ideas on how to do this?
  23. Well, so much for playing the game for the next few days. Crap... I don't keep backups of the main files, and never expected any updates to the game at this point... this is going to be mildly problematic.
  24. Here to help... if I'm not complaining about my own problems, anyhow. :)
