Gopher switching to MO
AddictedxGamer replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
For me, it depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Seeing as I'm caught up in his series' though, it doesn't affect me too much. When I first started watching them though, I binged; that made me want to play! I agree about PewDiePie. As much as I respect the fact that the man's found his career and is running with it, I personally don't find his videos entertaining. They're just.... not "me," I guess. I know, right?! It's the same way for me! I start watching spotlights on Brodual, Insane0hflex, Hodilton, etc. and I'm like; "downloading, downloading, downloading..." -
Optimizing DLC confusion, Neovalen guide

I would start over, just to be safe. So, delete the BSA files. -

I'm considering making a quick (very quick) video detailing exactly what needs to be done in order to complete the process right. Just because I like to help, and I know words don't always cut it. -

I'm glad I could help! Be sure to leave a comment in that thread of mine with a link to this one so Neovalen knows someone else had the same problem I did! -
Gopher switching to MO
AddictedxGamer replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
My friend's mom is has a very strong opinion on the subject. Both her son and I are subscribed to Gopher and watch almost all of his videos. On numerous occasions she's lectured us about how we're wasting our time watching videos of someone playing a video game. She also thinks that anyone who makes a living playing video games or making YouTube videos needs to "grow up" and "get a real job." I fully support people who make a living that way! If you're good at something, love doing it, and can successfully support yourself by doing it, then more power to ya! Far too many people in this world hate their jobs. /fanboyrant -
Optimizing DLC confusion, Neovalen guide
AddictedxGamer replied to alocrius's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Check out this post of mine in the Skyrim Revisited section. It talks about this very thing! Basically, what you're doing is saving the new textures into a BSA file, which isn't what you're supposed to do. You're meant to be left with loose files in the directories you create. Check out my thread; I posted what I think the directions should say, and I think they'll help you! -
Reputation, and tracking its changes
AddictedxGamer replied to redirishlord's question in Forum Support
I'm glad you got the negative votes taken care of. I've been on forums for years now, and many of them have used reputation systems as well. Reputation is something I've always tried not to pay attention to, but can't seem to help it, LOL. On a forum a while back there was someone who did the same thing to me as someone did to you, and the Admins wouldn't do anything about it. Another forum I was on, if you left someone a negative vote, you were required to submit a comment, and include your username so the person knew it was you. I don't know if that's something that could be used here though. -

I'm wondering the same thing! As a side note, I hope once he's finished with Richard that he plans to (eventually) start a new character and playthrough of the game. I love his videos! -
I haven't played the game myself, although I'd very much like to. The only thing stopping me is the fact that it requires a subscription... Were it not for that, I'd be all over it! The only reason there's a subscription fee is because it's an online, multiplayer game; you're paying for the servers. But look at Battlefield 4 and the myriad of other online multiplayer games that don't charge you a monthly fee... Sure, Battlefield 4 has Premium that most players buy, but still... I just can't get behind the subscription idea for games.

I completely agree. Making use of the guides provided is the smartest thing you can do. That said, I still feel adding something mentioning that you want to hit "Use Folder" instead of saving as a BSA is a good idea. There's at least two people who have made that mistake and had to do the whole thing over; myself and the creator of the thread I linked to in my initial post here. It's a simple change to the instructions that could prevent people from going through a lot of hassle and confusion when it's not needed. This is just my $0.02 of course. Everyone has theirs as well, and I respect that. -

Different Profiles, or Different Installations?
AddictedxGamer replied to AddictedxGamer's question in Mod Organizer Support
Let me start by saying that I respect your opinion, and appreciate the time and effort you've put into creating and updating the Mod Organizer. That being said, I still don't understand why you're hesitant to try and create a system in which you can remove mods from one profile without removing them from another. When you hide a mod, it becomes hidden in all profiles; not just the profile you hid it from. Tagging a mod with multiple categories could be confusing in my eyes, as you may forget that you set it that way, and wonder for a second why it's in that category. If I was to use a single instance of the Mod Organizer for both the STEP Guide and the SRLE Guide, more than likely I'd set the categories with named prefixes to differentiate the two. For example: STEP 2.D. Fixes and SRLE 2.D. Other Fixes (SRLE doesn't use the 2.D, 2.E, 2.F, etc system, but I add them anyways). That way when looking at my mod list in the categorized view, it will at least be less confusing, and I can quickly find the category/mods I'm looking for. Ultimately, as I said before; it can be done. I just personally think it would be much simpler if mods could be removed from one profile without removing them from another. IF it can be done of course. I know the virtual filing system might make it hard/impossible. Sorry if I'm coming off as a jerk! I assure you I don't mean to be! P.S. - Perhaps I don't fully understand the capabilities of the categories system. If you'd care to go into a detailed explanation, show a video, etc. then feel free to! -

Yes, I'm sure. The problem was that I (and the creator of the topic I linked in my post) didn't click the "Use Folder" button in the window that pops up when you choose where to save the output. If you click "Save," you need to have a name for the file in the "File Name" box, and it will save it as a BSA file. What you actually want is for everything to be extracted and optimized to the folder without creating a BSA. In my opinion, it's an easy mistake to make. That's why I posted this suggested change to the instructions. Some people might think the current instructions are clear enough, and others might make the same mistake as I, and apparently others, have made. -

STEP v2.2.9 Official Bug Reports
AddictedxGamer replied to EssArrBee's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
This isn't really a bug, per se, but I thought I'd mention it anyways. In the guide, the detailed instructions for the Smart Souls mod in the 2.D. Fixes category mention having to create the Smart Souls.ini file by hand. In actual fact, as of the current version of the Mod Organizer, the file will be generated automatically when you launch the game. Then you drag the files from the overwrite folder into the Smart Souls mod. Either way, the desired effect is achieved, but I thought I'd mention it just in case you weren't aware. -
Yep; you guys are correct! It generated when I launched the game and closed it once the menu loaded. Then I moved the overwrite files into the Smart Souls mod. Thanks!
-
I take it it's generated when you launch the game then, yeah? Because I've got the mod activated (haven't launched the game though) and there's no Smart Souls.ini file in the mod's file tree.
-
That's the mod I tried using, but for some reason, it didn't work.
-
The STEP Guide has detailed instructions for the installation of Smart Souls that mentions creating and editing an INI file. The SRLE guide doesn't mention anything of the sort. Is this by design, or is it an oversight that needs to be corrected? Here is a link to the Wikipedia page that pops after clicking the "Detailed instructions available" link alongside Smart Souls in the STEP Guide. So, do we need to create that INI file when using SRLE, or is it a STEP-only step ( )?

You're welcome! Let me know what you decide once you have! -
Nice! I use a controller as well, but I've always just used "Extended Version" of this mod, which works well enough. It's obviously a lot more limited than the Chatpad though.I also tried using a custom controlmap.txt file that allowed the controller to work with the keyboard at the same time, but couldn't get it working properly. There was something else that I used too, but it turned out to be really, really complicated. I think it was the "More Hotkeys Please" mod.
